SuperBowl Quiz

January 24, 2020 by nflinlondon

Where are you going for the SuperBowl? Are you watching at home? With friends? Or hitting the town to paint the town red, white & blue?

If you’re in London or close by, please feel free to join us at the Long Acre pub in Covent Garden for an epic night of NFL.
We will have loads of great food, cold beer & plenty of TVs to watch the big game.
They will also open up the basement for fans should we sell out the top floor.

What are you going to do before the 11:40pm kickoff?
If you’re joining us at the Long Acre, feel free to sign up for our NFL Quiz, an interactive, video quiz that we will beam across the pub.
Just watch the screen, and the questions will appear in video form.
Cool, huh?

Our quizmaster is none other than our very own Wade McElwain.
Wade actually writes and produces quiz and trivia shows during the day, so this is a perfect chance to see his mad skills in action.

It costs £10 per team to play (you need a ticket to get in as well) & you can win some fab prizes thanks to BetRegal, DraftKings, and the Long Acre.

Make sure you get your team together now!

Tickets for the quiz can be found here, as well as entry tickets.

Frank ‘F%C#Kin’ Clark

January 21, 2020 by nflinlondon

You gotta love Frank Clark. He gives 100% when he plays, and zero F#cks when the cameras are on him.

Luckily the smart folks at NBC had the ‘beep’ button ready, because they knew that Clark would go off on one of his many rants.  This is one of those times.

Clark went off on how the Chiefs were able to handle Derek Henry, who was only able to gain 68 yards on the day, when he had gashed for 377 yards the previous two games.

Clark didn’t let loose, dropping 8 words that needed to be bleeped.

He still rates the Chiefs D as the ‘best in the world’, but he will have to see for sure when they play the 49ers on Feb 2nd.

NFL Player Trivia

January 21, 2020 by nflinlondon

How much do you know about the NFL?
Would you consider yourself a genius of the gridiron, or a straight up novice?
What is your QB IQ really like?

We have created a fun quiz for you to test your knowledge of NFL Players.
You need to be able to correctly identify the players in the quiz to get full points.
Can you get 25/25?

Some of these pictures are pretty tricky, so you will need an encyclopaedic knowledge of the players of old to be able to successfully get perfect on this quiz.
Answers for the quiz are at the bottom of this page.

Here are some of the top players we think of when we think of NFL GOATS.

Jim Brown

Jim Brown was an unstoppable beast. Not only did he crush everyone he ran into during the late 50s and 60s, he was also a badass mofo. Brown was intimidating on the field, as his running power was so strong, NFL weaklings of the era struggled to contain him.
Brown would be nightmare for the League this days, as he was always vocal about the calamity of events that were happening around him.
Whether it was segregation, the Vietnam War, or economic disparity-Brown always had an opinion.
Heck of an athlete and not a bad actor as well!

Walter Payton

‘Sweetness’ was not only one of the toughest, most fluid runners in the NFL, he was also a remarkably humble man as well. Payton was an iconic Bear, who was nearly unstoppable on the field. Despite the fact that he could easily rush a 100 yard game every week, he didn’t trash talk, didn’t gloat, didn’t rub success in others faces. A truly class act.

Joe Montana

Could there be a more iconic QB that Montana? He won so many awards, that many are now named after him. One of the most solid QBs in the SuperBowl, he was nearly perfect in several big games, and was a terror in the fourth quarter. If you have never watched any of his games, go back and watch them!

Barry Sanders

Another RB who could be considered the ‘classiest’ guy in the NFL. Sanders played with a quiet intensity that was terrifying. He could easily gash oppositions for tonnes of yards, yet he too has one of the most humble players on the planet. He retired before than he really had to, and when Barry talked, the world listened. Always tough to try to make a career in Detroit, but he never turned his back on the city, and gave them everything he had.

Make sure you come and join us for our SuperBowl Party at Long Acre Sun Feb 2nd.
We will have a quiz prior to the big game.

Good luck on the quiz.

DraftKings Picks

January 19, 2020 by nflinlondon

Conference championships, only 4 teams, so who do you pick?
Obviously there is a lot of value to be had on the top picks, but DFS is also about finding value in the other WRs, RBs and Flexs in the bunch.

Wade McElwain makes his Conference Championship picks on DraftKings, to make your life easier.
Here are some of the top picks he likes his week.

QB

Patrick Mahomes-$7700

Dude came back from a 27 point deficit to chuck down 51 points. He could have score close to 70 if he didn’t take his foot off the gas. It’s hard to see anyway that Mahomes ISN’T the best QB stats wise this weekend.
Even if they lose (big leap) Mahomes will still put up 40 points and 300 yards.
He is at home with a wealth of talent to throw to.
He is the best QB this weekend bar none.

RB

Tevin Coleman $5700

The 49ers have several RBs at their disposal, and will have plenty of opportunities to use them in the Redzone, and to gash the Packers throughout the night. It’s a wealth of guys to choose from, but Coleman is one of those guys who can really blast it through for the score. He should get at least 1 TD Sunday.

Aaron Jones $6700

AJ is the Packers running game. While he was kept to just 38 yards the last time these 2 played, he should be able to get more Sunday, since he is their only solution. Jones should have a 120yd night, with at least 1 TD.

WR

Sammy Watkins $4600

There are so many weapons at Mahomes disposal, how do you pick just one? Watkins is one of those guys who seems to score in pressure situations. This veteran is a solid choice when it comes to the Redzone, as well as finding separation from defenders in the game. Watkins is a good value for someone who might get you an extra 8 points.

AJ Brown $5200

Brown has been a beast for the Titans this year, so it was a bit surprising to see him only go for $5200. He should have a good game, despite the fact that the Chiefs should smother him in coverage. They will need to go deep if they fall behind, and he is the one that they will target the most.

TE

Travis Kelce $7100

Kelce is THE TE to fear this Sunday. The Titans don’t cover TE’s that well, so he should be able to gash the Titans for loads of yards and a few TDs. Sure, $7100 is pretty high, but when you know how many score he should get (3?) then you know that he will pay off in points.

Make sure you join our DraftKings League, and play in the numerous contests we have on for Sunday.

Good luck, and see you at Long Acre tonight!

Sunday Picks

January 19, 2020 by nflinlondon

And then there were 4.
2 from the AFC, 2 from the NFC in the final battle to determine who goes to the Super Bowl.
We have been here every year since the NFL began, but Sunday is particularly sweet because there are no New England Patriots playing in this one.
It seems…nice.

So who wins the two games tonight?
Wade & Ryan break down their thoughts on the game, and make their predictions on who wins the games on Sunday.

Make sure you visit BetRegal to bet on the games, and play in our DraftKings Leagues to make your DFS picks.

Titans (11-7) vs -7 Chiefs (13-4) +53

The Titans have finally made it to the AFC final. Through some plucky plays, and the legs of Henry,  the Titans finally have a shot at the big game. Or do they?
Do they have a chance against these Chiefs who came back from a pounding to thrash the Texans?
Maybe.
The Chiefs can be scored on, which was evident last week.
The real question is can the Titans compete in a game when they go down by a few scores?
Then they have to rely on Tannehill, which won’t go well.
Both Wade & Ryan have the Chiefs downing the Titans comfortably and moving on to the SuperBowl.

Packers (14-3) vs -7.5 49ers (14-3) + 45

When these two teams met in Week 12, it was rather ugly. The Niners beat up on the Pack 38-7, and chased Aaron Rodgers all over the field.
Could the same happen again this week? Maybe.
But you can see how the Packers would have learned from that game, and applied some other routes to get Adams open.
Bosa will have his hands full of Bulaga, which should give Rodgers some more time.
Jimmy G had a stellar game last week, but doubtful if he will replicate that after the Packers D’s performance last Sunday.
The Packers should be able to keep it close, but both Wade & Ryan have the 49ers nudging out the game for a victory.

Both guys see the Super Bowl being made up from the Chiefs and 49ers.

Join us tonight at Long Acre where we will be watching the AFC contest. Bar closes after the game.

See you tonight!
