Home Marketing

December 17, 2021 by nflinlondon

The NFL announced this week that they have granted marketing rights to 18 teams across 26 territories around the world.

Global NFL fans were left to ask themselves, ‘what the heck does this mean? Am I getting a VHS tape of NFL games?’
Not really, you’re getting Home Marketing!

With this new acronym (IMHA), the NFL is allowing teams to reach out directly to the fans, and fan groups to help promote their team(s), as well as develop more of a global following.

If you are looking for some old VHS tapes of NFL games, now you can ask the teams directly!

What Does it Mean for NFL Fans?

Being an NFL fan around the world, means you don’t get as much ‘love’ as the average NFL fan stateside.

Not only do fans have to watch the games at an ungodly hour, but they must suffer through some of the more popular local sports like soccer…rugby…or The Masked Singer. Uggghh!

With this new Home Marketing plan, now fans and fan groups can directly work with the teams, and their marketing departments to offer a more comprehensive fan experience to those outside the country.

It means that fan groups can grow organically, and leaves less chance of fan groups being bullied by the league, local TV networks and bars for trying to support their favourite team(s).

UK Bound

The UK was one of the territories to be a part of this new program, with 6 NFL teams being selected to dance with the fans.

Although slightly less than Mexico’s 9 teams, the UK has once again been rewarded for having fans that not only truly the game, but also support it, no matter what kind of craziness is going on in the world.

NFL in London is one of the largest NFL promoters in Europe, so we will let you know what we hear, and any important news to NFL UK fans.

The six teams that have been selected to take part in the home marketing initiative in the UK includes:

Chicago Bears

Boasting one of the UK’s biggest Bear fans in our man Wade, this is exciting news for all Chicago fans.

The Chicago Bears are one of the few teams in the UK without an active social scene like some of the other fan clubs.
That could change with the Bears now able to pinpoint English fans, and provide them with plenty of Chicago Bears merchandise that has never been seen across the pond.

Welcome to London Chicago Bears!

Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s no surprise that the Jags were included in this list, given their boots on the ground policy from over a decade ago.

Jacksonville has continued to grow their UK fanbase, even while the home numbers dwindled.

Jags UK fans have suffered through expansion hiccups, the Bortles era, Minshew-Mania, and now Urban Decay…but they still keep coming back.

Shad Khan and the Jags team should be happy to reward such faithful fans over the years.

Minnesota Vikings

Tapping into their Scandi heritage, the Vikings have never shied from their European roots.

Minnesota has a new miracle, as the Vikes are another lucky team to be welcomed into the British fold.

The Vikings are another NFC north team to slip across the pond, and the fans couldn’t be happier!

Minnesota Vikings have a solid UK and European fanbase that truly deserves this honour, and will definitely not let the team down!

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have had a grip on the UK since the Marino and NFL Channel 4 years.

Miami has a surprising amount of fans in England, and might have something to do with the fact that the weather is exactly the opposite to the UK.

Poor Dolphins fans have also had a tough decade in the AFC East, watching TB12 and Billy Boy take title after title, despite a slew of draft picks.

If you needed a second NFL team from Florida, you got one now.

NY Jets

Ever since Jets owner Woody Johnson put the ‘ass; in Ambassador, the New York Jets have circled around the capital.

While Jets fans stateside have been wearing face coverings even before began, English fans have been able to travel in relative anonymity.

This will all change as the New York Jets are another team to grace our shores with their football.

It’s been a rough few years on the Jets, so be nice to them. Who knows you might even be able to make the team?

San Francisco 49ers

San Francisky? Hoo yeah!

Ever since Joe Montana did his thing in the 80s’, the 49ers have been a popular team logo to see on the streets of England.

San Fran and the 49ers are not only hugely popular in the UK, but they are also the most recent of all the teams to go to the Super Bowl!
So there’s that.

Welcome to the United Kingdom San Fran! Mind the gap.

NFL in London

For all those teams that don’t know us, why not reach out.

We love to host parties for all the fans, as well as get communities of fan groups involved in exciting activities.

Here we grow again NFL!

Biden Time

Joe Biden was out and about, and quick to remind NFL fans the need for health safety.

Or else he just hates Aaron Rodgers and wanted to make a fool of him.

Panto Week

December 16, 2021 by nflinlondon

What a week of performances that was in the NFL, as some of the top teams soared, and the crap teams continued to get stuck in the quagmire of mediocrity.
End of the season ‘am I right’?

To recap the silly week that was 14 in the NFL, Wade & Ryan break down all of the past slew of games, plus NFL news in our Panto Week Podcast.

Among some of the other things that the guys discuss in the episode.

NFLinLondon · Panto Week-W14 Review-Ep 177

COVIDITY

Hey remember COVID? Well, it’s back and better with a whole new upgrade.

The Omicron is here, and it has the unique the ability to distinguish between ‘immunised’ and ‘vaccinated’. And it’s good at it too.

OBJ and the Rams took a slap on the face from the virus this week, as many teams might have their playoff run curtailed by the nasty.

Let’s add even more drama to the NFL playoffs!

Bengals Lancers

What’s up with Joe Burrow and the Bengals?
After a finger issue led to his weekly slide, it looks like Cincy might indeed be in trouble to actually make it to the big show.

Joe Mixon can only carry the team so far, before the D and the rest of the team needs to step up.

The AFC North is in freefall, and the Bengals had it all within their grasp.

Bills Bills

Remember when the Buffalo Bills were the number lock in the AFC?
Now they are ‘in the hunt’ as their playoff chances are about as likely as a balmy Christmas day in Western New York.

Perhaps having a running game is essential to an NFL team?

Ryan Cull is in nail biting mode, as the Bills are in danger of getting stuck against some tough teams moving into the post season.

Get Up Lamar

What are the Ravens without Lamar Jackson?
No, really…what are they?
Because they seem like they are screwed without him.

Injuries Galore sounds like a great band name, as well as the diagnosis for the woes of Baltimore.

A shot at the playoffs is a getting harder and harder every week, especially when they lose to divisional rivals.

Gold Strike

The 49ers are playing some exceptional football thanks to Deebo Samuel and a slew of San Fran running backs.

Now boasting a 7-6 record, the 49ers now face a gauntlet of tough divisional games to round out 2021.

Let’s face it, no one really wants to face San Fran right now…as they are able to throw an ‘L’ into anyone’s season hopes.

Refs

What the hell is with the refs this season? Are they trying to suck? Trying to ruin the game? Or are they just idiots?

There have been some truly shameful calls by refs this year, which seems odd given how technology has gifted us with replays, close ups etc in recent decades.

Maybe the refs know that they are in danger of being replaced by robots, and that they want one last chance to screw it up before they hand it over to their digital overlords?

Either way, they suck…and we’re watching you.

NFL Weekend

It’s a great weekend of NFL ahead, as we welcome games on Saturday night to add a little flava to mid December.

Make sure you join us every weekend at the Sports Bar & Grill, where we will be cooking up all the games you need this weekend.

TNF is the high flying Kansas City Chiefs vs the struggling LA Chargers at home. Another easy win for Mahomes?

Saturday night brings us the Las Vegas Raiders visiting the Cleveland Browns at 9:30pm GMT. A perfect way to avoid the crowds and cuddle up on the couch with someone you loathe.

The late Saturday (early Sunday) contest is a real cracker, as the Colts dome it up to protect themselves against the dangerous Patriots. This game doesn’t kick off until 1:20am, so hit the Sports Bar for a boozy breakfast and watch it then.

See you Sunday at either Clapham or Old Street. Book a table so that you can watch the games on your own TV.

Tips Ahoy-Week 14

December 12, 2021 by nflinlondon

It’s Week 14 in the NFL, which means that some of you are now totally out of your fantasy season.
Does it burn?

Now that pesky fantasy is out of the way, you can focus on some of the more important NFL things, like making some money off of it in time for Christmas.

Wade and Ryan have made their top picks for Sunday, in their Tips Ahoy-Week 14.

Ryans Tips

Ryan has been nervous for all of week 14 given that his Bills are playing the Bucs in south Florida on Sunday evening.
Will a total lack of a running game spell the end for the Bills?

Ryan’s first tip is for those Lions (+10) to keep on roaring. Fresh off a win last week, Detroit is getting itself high in Denver on Sunday.
He likes Goff and the steady play of the Lions to wreck some havoc on Teddy B and that injured Broncos team.
Lions to cover.

‘Dem Boys (-4.5) are confident that on Sunday they will prevail over the Washington FT. So confident, they guaranteed a win over Ron Rivera and the WFT.
Ryan still thinks that Dallas can’t fail in this one, and should easily cover the small spread en route to victory.

Matt Stafford and the LA Rams (+3) have a problem, they can’ win convincingly anymore.
Ryan thinks that this will end on Monday night, as the Rams will hold off the tenacious Cardinals for a big win.
He likes the Rams in a comfy win.

Who Dat at QB? No really? Who is it? It’s Taysom Hill! And he’s going to lead the Saints (-5.5) to a big win over the lowly Jets on Sunday.
New York is missing most of their receivers, so Ryan thinks that the Saints and their D should easily crush whoever suits up on the Big Apple.

If you take all of Ryan’s picks of the Lions, Cowboys, LA Rams & Saints, a £10 wager will pay out a lovely £151.20.

Wade’s Picks

Did you make some money off of Wade’s picks on Sunday? He did, with some nifty parlays that paid out on losers.

Speaking of losers, lets’ take a look at some of Wade’s hot tips for Sunday.

Urban Meyer is about to find himself isolated, as reports of bullying, calling coaches ‘losers’, and groping are just the tip of the problem in Meyer’s pants.
Luckily the Jaguars (+8.5) are facing a woeful Tennessee squad that is still hobbled by injury.
The Jaguars may not win this divisional game, but they should keep it close.

Close is how the game between the Falcons (+2.5) vs the Panthers will be on Sunday, as Matt Ryan is hoping for a win against SuperCam.
Both of these teams have been beaten by the injury bug, but Matty Ice still has his burn from TB12 etched into recent memory.
Cam is bad, Matt is better, and ATL should be it close.

Houston has more than a problem, it has an epidemic.
The franchise continues to slide, as another top coached was fired this week for no reason.
The Texans (+8.5) host Chef Russell Wilson on Sunday, and will most definitely lose, but by how much?
The Seahawks will struggle to bridge the 8.5 point gap, allowing the Texans to not get totally blown out.

The Giant neck of Mike Glennon is back, as New York (+10) heads to LA for a Sunday night game under the coastal sun.
The Chargers will be looking for blood, but let’s not forget no one really scores more than 20 points on the Giants, as their D keeps them in games they shouldn’t be in.
10 points is a lot to give to a Chargers team that took it on the chin from the Bengals last Sunday.

If you want to make some dosh off of Wade’s picks, all you have to do is select the Jaguars, Falcons, Texans & Giants. A £10 wager will net you £154.70.

Week 12 Reflections

November 30, 2021 by nflinlondon

With only 6 more weeks left in the NFL regular season (and 3 in your fantasy), it’s starting to look like some teams might emerge from this seasonal sludge to move on to a successful post season.

It also looks like that there are a few teams that have the potential to ruin another teams run just by their very nature of play.
Looking at you Colts and Eagles.

So join us, as we take a look at some Week 12 Reflections.

Steel Curtained

It certainly looks like the season might be over for the Steelers, after taking a heavy beating from the division rivals Bengals on Sunday.

Puffy Big Ben struggled to get it down the field, and the much vaunted defence may have lost TJ Watt for a few more games.

Pittsburgh has struggled to play with any vigor as of late, dropping its second in the series to Cincy, and it looks like they are ready to limp off to the offseason.

Brown Town

Baker Mayfield has been playing like an anus of late, most likely due to injuries that have plagued the QB for weeks.
There’s nothing to be gained from Baker ‘toughening’ it out, as he’s not tough, and not a hockey player.

The more that Cleveland allows Baker to suit up despite his myriad of injuries, the more likely that their experiment with Mayfield looks in doubt.

Let’s see if a Bye week fixes this situation, or if the Browns will continue to slide.

Russ is Cooked

Have you ever microwaved your food to much and seen the result?
This is what this season is feeling like in Seattle.

Russell Wilson looks tired, the O Line seems to have checked out, and Pete Carroll might be just calling it in, as the Seahawks took another lump, this time at the hands of the Washington Football Team.

Either Russ or Pete needs to go in Seattle, but maybe, it could be both of them.

Ramming Speed

The Rams continue to slide, after getting bitch smacked by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

Something is wrong with Matt Stafford, as he seems to have lost some of that zip on the ball, even with the addition of OBJ.

The Packers were totally in control in this game, despite lacking some key O line personnel.
If LA can’t beat Green Bay when they’re down a few men, how would they be able to face them in the post season with a fully functional squad?

Sean McVay had some truly horrific play calling on Sunday, if you want to know where to start posting the blame.

Cam Damn

Superman is back! Superman got benched!

The Carolina Panthers were playing ok before they brought in Cam Newton a few weeks ago, now it looks to be going all downhill again.

Cam was horrible on Sunday, throwing awful passes downfield that were rightfully picked off as garbage.

Add to that was that the often injured Christian McCaffery was injured again.

And with that, the only thing that the Panthers have left to play for is that D…which will now probably also fall apart.

Vikes?

Who are the Minnesota Vikings this year?

A team that can beat the Packers one week, and then get stuffed by the 49ers the next.

Whoever the Vikes are this season.  the one thing that they are not are playoff contenders.

Dalvin Cook is now out for the season, leaving the Vikings to try to cobble together some wins with a skeleton crew of Mattison etc.

Minnesota still has the ability to upset a lot of the main contenders heading into the post season, which sometimes, can be just as exciting.

Sunday Funday

Join us every Sunday at the Sports Bar & Grill Clapham and Old Street, as we rock out to NFL all night long.

Sundays will get busier in December, so make sure that you book a table to ensure that you can watch all the games on the comfort of your own TV.

Turkey Hangover

November 27, 2021 by nflinlondon

The gobble gobble is done for 2021, as the Thanksgiving slate of games are now leftovers, as we look ahead to week 12 in the NFL.

Wade McElwain and Ryan Cull are back with another exciting NFL preview podcast, as the boys digest their Turkey Hangover in this Week 12 preview.

Make sure you listen, laugh and love this new podcast episode.

NFLinLondon · Turkey Hangover-Week 12-Ep 173

Turkey Bowls

The Bears look aging and toothless as they fought off an equally inept Detroit Lions squad to get the first Thursday W.
This game was ugly on all fronts, as the only big winner of the night were penalties.
Matt Nagy holds onto his seat for another week.

‘Dem Boyz were lassoed by the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, in a frustrating game for Dak and the home fans.
This OT thriller was not only a big win for the Raiders, but also the highest watched Thanksgiving NFL game in history.

Ryan was thrilled as his Bills made short work of a depleted New Orleans Saints team on Thursday night.
Buffalo were able to show the AFC who still could be boss, in a game where they lost one of their biggest D pieces for the season.

-3 Bucs (7-3) vs Colts (6-5)  +53

Everyone is in love with the Colts again after Jonathan Taylor boot stomped the Bills last week in an easy victory.
Given this massive performance, all the pundits are pushing Indy on Sunday to give Tampa a tough game.

Let’s not forget it’s TB12. He is a fear factor in every game, and moving ahead to the playoffs, the Bucs only look to get stronger.
Tommy and Bruce will look to make statement here, looking to shut down Taylor, and bury the Colts in points, so they’ll be forced to make throws.

Wade likes the Bucs here to make short work of the Colts, and show Indy for what they really are…a team lacking depth.

Ryan on the other hand is sniffing the Wentz, picking them to give Brady and the boys a tough contest en route to victory.

Ryan- Colts 33 Bucs 30
Wade- Bucs 30 Colts 23

-2 Falcons (4-6) vs Jags (2-8)

Matty Ice and the birds are coming off a TNF beat down at the hands of Bill Belichick and the Patriots, and will be looking to add a much needed win over this sad Jags squad.

Will Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville team be able to respond to keep this game close?

Ryan thinks that the Jaguars at home will be too much for this Atlanta team, especially since he has been clean from betting on Falcons teams for 3 weeks now.
He likes the Jags to upset the flow of Matt Ryan, and reward Urban Meyer with a home W.

Wade on the other hand thinks that Atlanta is too much for this putrid Jacksonville team.
While both teams have really bad D’s, the Falcons have a marginally better one.

Ryan- Jags 23 Falcons 20
Wade- Falcons 24 Jags 21

Steelers (5-4-1) vs -4 Bengals (6-4)  +45

Big bloated Ben struggled against the mighty Chargers last week, despite gooning for four fourth quarter touchdowns in a loss.
The Steelers D is finally getting some healthy bodies back this week, as TJ Watt looks to rejoin the Pittsburgh fold.

Cincy has struggled and Joe Burrow looks a former shell of himself from last season.
The Bengals have taken some bad losses, and Burrow showed weak form in some games, but should look to rebound in this divisional contest.

Ryan likes the heroics of Big Ben to lead the charge here, in a big win for Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Wade thinks this is a get right game for Cincinnati, and Mixon and the boys should have an easy victory against Pittsburgh.

Ryan- Steelers 30 Bengals 26
Wade- Bengals 27 Steelers 18

That’s it for the picks this weeks Turkey Hangover podcast, make sure that you join us every Sunday at the Sports Bar and Grill Old Street and Clapham for our Sunday Funday spectacular.
