Week 14 Picks

December 8, 2019 by nflinlondon

Week 14 is here already, and brings with it some tough games to bet on.
I hate week 14 because the teams struggling in the middle will often outpace their previous opponents and leave a might beatdown on some otherwise close games.

There are quite a few lines this week that are at +10 points and above. As you may know I am always adverse to these huge spreads, but then Week 14 brings with it desperation for divisional superiority. There are a few games today where the spread just might get covered because they really NEED it.

Take a looksee at some of my picks, and click away to join with our BetRegal promotion.

-6 Ravens (10-2)  vs Bills (9-3)

Ugh, this is a tough one. The Bills are at home for a totally craptastical weather forecast. It’s hard to score loads of points when it sucks like that, so maybe focus on the under. The Bills have a tight squad like the 49ers. The can shut you down on D, and Josh Allen moves the ball to some favourite targets. The Bills should stay in this one, but the Ravens should win in a tight one.

49ers (10-2) vs -2.5 Saints (10-2)

Some people were surprised at this line, with the Saints being the fave. They are at home, and have started to lead a dismantling defence and an offence that is starting to find its funk again.
Brees is rightly favoured at home, and should load up loads of points to Michael Thomas. The 49ers will keep it close if they can punish with the run. Saints win.

Bengals (1-11) vs -7.5 Browns (5-7)

The Browns are in a weird freefall. It’s like the Myles incident and their poor play have compounded on the team in a malaise. They don’t seem to be a solid locker room team. Things will get worse this week when they face an Andy Dalton led team that is looking for vindication. This is a big divisional game, and one the Bengals can even win. If Joe Mixon can get into a rhythm, they can really pound the poor dog pound into a whimper. Bengals win.

Dolphins (3-9) vs -5.5 Jets (4-8)

5.5 points for the Jets? Not sure about this. They have been very inconsistent, and Darnold can either shine or shudder under opposing defenders. Leveon Bell is out for this one as well, which will limit the ground options and put more pressure on Sam Mono-arnold. FitzMagic is feeling it, and they have a coach who is ready to mess around to get points. They can be cagey, even if the crappy weather in NY will be a limitation. Miami covers.

Chiefs (8-4) vs Patriots (10-2)

Tom Brady is old and dead. That’s what recent performances have made critics claim as they bemoan the death of a GOAT. But this is TB12 in Foxboro, in December. Historically it doesn’ t go well for opponents, and this match will echo the heralds of history. Mahomes will be chased all night until his knee pops or he tosses INTs. They will need to use Kelce and a solid running game to mess them up, but Tom is too good at home. Patriots win it.

Thanksgiving Picks

November 27, 2019 by nflinlondon

Gobble, Gobble y’all. It’s time for Thanksgiving NFL!

The NFL and Thanksgiving go together like a stuffed bird with no feathers. The tradition dates back to 1920 when the NFL first came into existence. Of course the tradition of Thanksgiving football games is a American college tradition that dates back to the 1880s’, but like all great traditions it was adopted and marketed to the masses.

Detroit was the first team to be tagged with Thanksgiving hosting duties in 1934, and has continued on this symbolic gesture every year. Many AFC teams have complained about them not being able to host any of the games, but where were you in 1934? Huh, punk. Don’t mess with Detroit.

Dallas Cowboys joined the turkey-fold in 1966, 6 years after they were welcomed into the league. There are numerous myths as to why the Cowboys ‘had’ to host Thanksgiving, but it all boils down to ‘there was nothing to watch on TV that day.’ Good enough for Dallas, good enough for me.

I am a huge fan of the Thanksgiving games. As a Canadian, it always felt nice to have 2 turkey eating holidays-even if your Thanksgiving only had NFL football.
My dad use to always take off work every ‘Black Friday’, which was nice as well.
It was only years later I learned he did this because he was incredibly hungover.
Still got quality time with him and McDonald’s!
Boom.

This year is a bitter sweet game, as my Bears play my dad’s Detroit Lions. I wish more than anything that I could watch the game with him, but sadly dementia is a bitch.

I will be watching the games on Thursday ay Belushi’s in Camden, come join us for some fun.

-3 Bears vs Lions +39

Chicago Bears
The Bears won! The Bears won! Mitchell Trubisky continued to struggle, but somehow found his mojo in the 2nd half. He still has the QB vision of someone who was kicked in the head by a goat, but he was able to check the ball down field. It flabbergasts me how many open targets he misses every week. Almost as much as being able to use the word ‘flabbergast’ when talking about Mitch.
As much as he takes the bulk of the blame, a depleted o-line has also not given him much time to get the ball off, or Montgomery the pace to get open.
Montgomery was used more effectively last week, but they still need to get the momentum going and build on a pattern of 1st downs.
The defence continues to play well, despite being let down by Mitch.
They handled the Giants last Sunday easily, & this depleted Lions team will offer far less of a bite.
Driskel is in for an abysmal day.

Lions
Poor, poor Detroit. I am talking about the city, not the team. The Lions are Stafford-less, and it looks like he doesn’t seem to mind as he ‘backs’ his way out of the season. Jeff Driskel couldn’t get picked for a tema in a league full of asthmatic children, so starting for the Lions is a leap. He made some truly crap-tastic passes last week, & was fortunate the Redskin receivers could barely hold onto their balls.
Their running game will rely on Bo Scarborough running into the Bears defense, who will be relentless.
The Lions D will be tasked with not only covering the Bears speedy receivers, as well as trying to block a surging running game.
Luckily, Mitch Trubisky can’t throw that far.

Bills vs -6.5 Cowboys +45

Bills
Buffalo is 8-3, and Dallas is 6-5. If you told most fans that this is how it would go down by week 13 of this season, they wouldn’t believe you. Well, maybe Ryan would.
Josh Allen has been playing incredibly, and they have really squeezed the value out of their stingy defence. Of course, it helps when you have the EASIEST schedule in the NFL this year.
Will they be able to get their running game and wide receivers firing against ‘DemBoyz?
It will be tough, but with the amount of injuries on the Cowboys side, there is a chance the Bills win this, if not just keep it close.

Cowboys
The Cowboys is trippin’ after their loss last week to the Patriots. It was a rather low scoring affair, that had the refs surprisingly side with the Patriots on many calls. What? They can choose sides? They sure can! Amari Cooper looks hobbled and Zeke is struggling to get back into form. They are at home, but with that 4 day loss-hangover following them back.
Dak will be able to put up points, especially with his feet, but look for the Bills to keep this one closer than people think.

-7 Saints vs Falcons +49

Saints
A few weeks ago these two met, and the result was unpredicted. The Falcons smoke-showed the Saints who looked lost as they took a pummelling. Will it be the same this week? No way, Jose. The Saints had a few more injuries then, including Alvin Kamara. These guys are back and healthy. Brees is now on form, and in another dome. A dome where the Falcons lose a lot. They should get use to that.

Falcons
Despite playing putting together a string of wins, the Falcons aren’t fooling anyone. They identify as sucks, suckies, and suckers. They got slapped around by the Bucs last week, as their tough defence was penetrated numerous times without consent by Jameis. The fact that Hooper and Austin will be out this week means Matt Ryan will have hardly anyone to throw to, and even less time. If Marshawn Lattimore returns to the Saints D, we could see even more ugliness. This is the latest of the games, so hopefully the Falcons fans will be wasted.

Where are you watching the games? If you’re in London-join us at our fantastic BetRegal Thanksgiving party at Belushi’s Camden. Sign up ahead of time, or on the day and get a welcome beer! We have plenty of space for all of your NFL viewing needs.

We are also running a DraftKings Thanksgiving contest as well. It is free to join and fun as all get out.

Don’t forget, Friday is ‘Black Friday’, so make sure you don’t drunk shop when you are watching the games!

Good luck, and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

DraftKings-Week 12 tips

November 24, 2019 by nflinlondon

It’s Sunday funday, when you need to frantically set all of your line-ups, chase down any missing pieces in your squad, and if you have to…draft players in.

DraftKings is fun, because it’s daily-so even if you have been sucking in your League this season, you can turn it all around in a fun play contest.
You don’t even need to play for money, there are loads of fun free play contests, including one in our League as well.
Here is our Sunday Funday Weekly Contest. Join now and pay for free each week.

https://www.draftkings.co.uk/draft/contest/81268625

So who do you have in your DraftKings contest this week? Here are some of my top picks to help get your contest sorted.

Ryan Tannehill-QB-TEN-$5300

Ryan Tannehill? Wade…have you lost it? Yes, but that’s not the point. You want to find someone who has value against and easier D, and that’s what old Tannehill has. It’s no secret that the Jags have been playing defensive poo lately, so this should be an easier match-up. Tannehill will hit Derrick Henry in the backfield a lot, which means he could 100 yards just from him. Tannehill hasn’t been playing that badly as of late, and should be of good value to balance out the rest of your squad with a $5300 price tag.

Kareem Hunt-RB-CLE-$5600

Kareem Hunt has been a shell of his former self this season, barely making an impact this season. But that will change this week for a few reasons. They are playing the Dolphins. That’s only one reason, but there are a lot of factors involved in this. The Dolphins will struggle to stop a Browns team that is still smarting from the Myles Garrett incident last week. The Browns are going to want to establish the run to punish the fish, and Hunt looks to play the big role here. The Dolphins will struggle against a power 2 of RBs bang into their line all day. Hunt should factor in at least 1 TD and at $5300, is a steal.

Robbie Anderson-WR-NYJ-$4800

The Raiders & the Jets face off in NY, and the stakes are high for the Jets. They have been able to muster a few wins, and might be able to shake off the mono-rail like performance earlier this season. The Raiders are horrible when it comes to stopping the deep ball, and this is where the Jets should be able to find some momentum. Anderson has got some wheels on him, which means he should be able to find separation to get into the open. At $4800 he is a good deal, just for the amount of yards he will plow through as well. I like him to at least get 1 TD here as the Jets will look to exploit the weak secondary of the Raiders.

Michael Thomas-WR-NO-$9300

Michael Thomas is straight up shattering records this season. He is chucking up the yards and TDs as he continues to have a stellar performance. No one seems to be able to stop him. Given the anemic defense of the Carolina Panthers, he should have another smoking game at home. Once he gets those legs rolling, and uses his height advantage, mere mortals are helpless. He should have a few TDs in this one.

Here are some other dudes you might want to target.

Mike Evans-WR-TB-$7300-Evans looks to have a great game against a Falcons team that can pass rush, but can’t defend deep. Jameis is still putting up big yards, and he should be getting the bulk of the looks.

Joe Mixon-RB-CIN-$5900-The Bengals can’t do anything right, but they can run. In fact, Mixon does most of the work for cats. He should gash some yards in the slot from Driskell as they look to avoid that pass rush.

Make sure you join our DraftKings League, which is aptly called NFLinLondon so that you can join in on all the fun.
