New Tears

January 6, 2022 by nflinlondon

Happy 2022 NFL in London fans! Did you have a cracking start to the new year, or has it all been a confusing jumbly mess, like last week in the NFL?

To commemorate the start of a new annum, we look back at the insane week 17 in our New Tears podcast.

Wade & Ryan look back at all of the wild and wacky week that was 17 in the NFL.

NFLinLondon · New Tears-Week 17-Ep 181

Antonio Brown

In a selfish, meltdown moment, AB lost the ply, jumping up and down in the end zone in the Bucs comeback against the Jets.

Team-mates were quick to interject that AB needs compassion for his mental health at the moment, and that he would no longer play for the team or the NFL.

AB came back to say that the team was drugging him through injuries, and he in no way felt in any condition to play. So he jumped up and down on his ankle in the end zone.

None of this makes sense, but what is becoming apparent is that TB12 has a lot of work and glue to use to get this Tampa Bay team back on track.

Bye Big Ben

In a teary goodbye game, Big Ben said goodbye to the Pittsburgh faithful in a home win against the sad sack Browns.

An emotional victory for Ben, as he waddles off into rehab pool of retirement-despite his Steelers technically in contention for a playoff spot.

Bakers Cooked

Trying to steal some of that retirement thunder was Baker Mayfield, who also quietly kind of retired on Sunday.

After Ben’s tear-jerking goodbye to the Steel City, Baker jumped into say that he is now done for the season, after playing through so many injuries.

Fans know that he should have NOT have tried playing through injuries, but that he also might not be back in Cleveland next season.

Chase Him

Jamaar Chase exploded last week, putting up over 40 points in some leagues with an epic demonstration versus the Chiefs touted D.

Breaking Justin Jefferson’s rookie record from the year before, the tandem of Burrow and Chase has been absolutely electric heading into the post season.

Washington Admirals

WFT has slowly been erasing all traces of ‘Redskins’ from their records, they made an announcement this week that they will finally be changing their official name in February this year.

Internet sleuths were quick to check domain registrations for potential team names, and low and behold the Washington Admirals pointed back to the team.

Is this the new name? Looks like it.

Giant Pains

The NY Giants took a beating from the Bears D in week 17, and limped off into to the post season with way more questions than answers.

The head coach has to go, the QB might need to be traded, and star running back Barkley might have more injury weeks ahead than playing weeks.

Both New York teams were horrible this year, but at least the Jets showed some signs of life, and have impressed with loads of rookies stepping up.

Playoffs in London

NFL Playoffs are coming up, and we will be working with the Sports Bar & Grill to promote them.

17 Thoughts

January 3, 2022 by nflinlondon

What another wild penultimate ending to the NFL as we cruise even further towards the playoffs.

With some truly bizarre incidents that went down, we offer some week 17 thoughts on the whole shebang.

AB

What can you say about what happened with Antonio Brown? In a truly sad meltdown in the third quarter against the Jets, AB took off his shirt and quit football.

A public mental health breakdown spiralled into AB leaving the Bucs and the NFL.
Whatever it was that transpired in the game, the selfish shutdown of his team was felt in shock as we all witnessed a collapse under pressure.

As Tom Brady said, now is the time to feel empathy for Antonio Brown, and he’s a grown man who needs to own up to his feelings and responsibilities.

Tom Brady

Tom Brady took an early punch to his beautiful chin as the Jets took a quick lead against the stunned Bucs.
He then had to watch in disbelief in the meltdown of AB, a guy he vouched for, stayed at his house, played with his kids.

TB12 did what he does, delivering a last minute knockout to the Jets, and offering perhaps the classiest and touching take on the AB situation. Be nice, and leave him alone.

Rodger That

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers won again, beating another depleted team at home and securing a spot in the cheddar tundra.

Making it look easy against a Cousins-less squad, Green Bay only have the plucky Lions left in a final fun blowout.

All this to lose in the NFC final.

Chase

Jamar Chase is just awesome. The rookie blasted his way to another Sunday of stats, making any fantasy final a blowout thanks to his crazy day.

Leaping over last seasons’ rookie Jefferson, Chase was a beast this season in fantasy points and looks to do the same heading into the post season.

Chase and Burrow are truly going to put on a smoke show heading into the playoffs.

Bears

Was it that the Bears were awesome or that the Giants truly do suck, as Chicago Bears romped to a Nagy-happy win on Sunday.

The Bears put up 29 points, but the win really went to the D, who absolutely trounced poor Mike Glennon and the hapless Gmen.

Chicago had a really bad season thanks to injuries, coaching and coaching through injuries, so hopefully the owners will steer the ship in the right direction.

Pats

Your friend from Bawstawn is loud on the Sam Adams again, as the Patriots are once again headed to the playoffs looking like a threat.

Sure, they beat the Jags who suck harder than a gas station vacuum, but by putting 50 points on the legs of 2 running backs, New England is solid again.

No one is going to want to face the Patriots the first round, but they won’t have the legs to vomit all the way to the finish line.

Rammy

Matt Stafford and the Rams continue to look average, as he has been completing more passes to his D than he does to his receivers.

Sean Mcvay should be nervous, as his only game plan is to rely on the legs of Sony Michel. The Rams have been iffy since they lost Robert Woods, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get better.

Saints

How bout dem Saints? New Orleans put up an easy win over the ruined Panthers.

Taysom Hill was able to eek out a low scoring win as the Saints look to snag one of the last playoff spots of the season.

It’s the Saints D that really is the difference here, as them with the solid legs of Kamara could really put a dent in one of the first rounds if they can get the slot.

Auld Langs

December 31, 2021 by nflinlondon

Happy New Year everyone!

We hope that Santa was good to you, that you avoided this nasty flu that’s going around, and you made it to the finals of your NFL Fantasy Playoffs.

Wade and Ryan are back for another cross-Atlantic podcast, as we bid adieu to 2021, and hope for better things in 2022.

Week 17 is almost upon us, and the COVID exemptions are already starting to pile up, with over 200 players expected to be affected by Sunday.

If you’re in the know, and good at betting, you should be able to find some juicy picks out of the rumble of games slated to kickoff for Week 17 in our Auld Langs podcast.

We’ve got our podcast locked and loaded for you, so that you listen, relax and let the Joe Average aura of the guys take you to your happy place.

NFLinLondon · Auld Langs-Ep 180

Among some of the games the guys look at this week.

Dolphins (8-7) vs -3.5 Titans (10-5) +39.5

Tua and the fopping fish have had a heck of a season, winning seven straight games after losing 7 straight games, the only team to ever accomplish such a feat.
They sunk the Saints, but now look to a desperate Tennessee team who need the home crowd to help them take it over the top.

The Titans have suffered since losing Derek Henry earlier in the season. Without a smack in the face running game, they have had to rely on a Ryan Tannehill who lost most of the tools in his belt.

Ryan and Wade both like Tennessee to win, but Wade thinks that Miami should be able to keep in close with some of their receivers returning to health.

Ryan-Titans 23 Dolphins 16
Wade-Titans 21 Dolphins 18

-3.5 LA Rams (11-4) vs Ravens (8-7) +47

Matt Stafford and the Rams have everyone scratching their heads.
What was thought to be a wham bam, thank you kick in the West coast, has many wondering if Matt can carry the load he was expected to.
Bad back, defence that allows plenty of points, and losing Robert Woods took notch out of their depth.

Baltimore has been a steaming hot mess since Lamar went down, losing most of their D in the process.
Huntley was good, until he got injured, and hopefully one of them should be back this week.

Wade & Ryan agree that this is going to be one heck of a game, but that for the Ravens, this might be the more desperate time.

Ryan likes the Rams to grab and hold a good lead, while Wade figures the Ravens to be feisty enough to keep it close.

Ryan-Rams 27 Ravens 20
Wade-Rams 26 Ravens 25

-3.5 Eagles (8-7) vs Washington FT (6-9)  +45

Jalen Hurts is starting to play like his career depends on it, as the Eagles desperately chase one of the final playoff spots.
The Eagles have found some nuggets of gold in their roster this season, but have failed to develop their fortitude when it matters.

WFT is coming off a blowout by the Cowboys last week, in a game where they played every string left in the roster. They will have some of their main dudes back for Week 17, but with season slipping away, the motivation might be hard to come by.

Ryan is all over the Eagles in this one, taking Hurts and the boys for a smooth ride over a roughshot Washington team.

Wade believes that in these key moments, some teams just poop the bed, and this will be the case this week. When you want a win that bad, you often mess it up to spite yourself.

Ryan-Eagles 27 WFT 17
Wade-WFT 21 Eagles 20

That’s it for Week 17 picks, hopefully you find some wisdom in the ramblings.

Santa’s Slay

December 23, 2021 by nflinlondon

What a wild wicked week in the NFL as COVID, injuries, winter and Christmas all had a kick at the league.

Could things get worse for week 16? Who knows?
Hold my beer, as Wade & Ryan break down their week 16 picks in this Santa’s Slay podcast.

NFLinLondon · Santa’s Slay-W16-Ep 179

If you’ve made it thus far in your fantasy season, congrats!
If you’re already out of your league, no worries…you have another 10 months until the season kicks off again.

Among some of the games Wade & Ryan look at in this podcast, includes:

Browns (7-7) vs -8 Packers (11-3) +44.5

Cleveland steams into week 16 with loads of of issues and plenty of room to screw up.
Baker’s play has been as bad as his acting, with the Browns struggling to make anything happen in another dismal year.

Aaron Rodgers is on his farewell toe tour, watching his MVP chances slip away the more airtime that he gives to Pat Mcafee.
Despite all of this, Rodgers keeps the Packers in the hunt, only to eventually tank in the NFC championship.

A-Aron should continue his winning ways here, as the Browns have been a stinky butthole all season.

Ryan and Wade both think that 8 points is a bit of stretch given that the Browns have quite a few players returning form injury.

Ryan-Packers 26 Browns 23
Wade- Packers 28 Browns 24

-3 LA Rams (10-4) vs Vikings (7-7) +49.5

The Rams continue to trudge towards the playoffs, losing players to COVID and injury along the way. Stafford is trying to carry the team on his bad back, but it’s the defence that has been providing the glue in the tight games.

The Vikings are pains in the butts for many teams. Despite not being good enough to go all the way, they are good enough to play havoc with some of the better teams in the league.
They have enough talent to rip seams in the fabric of better teams, and ruin their chances of spotless playoff play.

Wade is big on the Vikes on this one, as they always play games close, and add a bit of flavour to the proceedings.
Ryan agrees with Wade’s passionate prediction, making both guys big on Minnesota on Sunday.

Wade- Vikings 30 Rams 28
Ryan- Vikings 30 Rams 27

Bills (8-6) vs Patriots -2.5 (9-5) +43.5

Weather this game will be close or not, should be down to the wind, after the last contest was a freeze out.

Mac Jones was perfect in his 3 passes, as Bill Belichick continues to lead penalty free football into the post season. The Patriots will be lucky to face the same Buffalo team, who started to adapt to Bellicose Bill in the second half.

Buffalo needs this win like a wing needs sauce. Dry rubbing their skin into the playoffs isn’t a good idea, as they continue to slide down the ranks of playoff potential.

Ryan is big on Buffalo this weekend, and has all the faith in Josh Allen to thwart the pugnacious Pats in a tight Sunday.
Wade agrees, and thinks this the chance for Buffalo to right the ship into the clear harbour.

Ryan-Bills 24 Patriots 20
Wade- Bills 21 Patriots 18

Deck the League

December 18, 2021 by nflinlondon

And just like that…COVID is back in the NFL!
Did you miss it?

Still more entertaining than a Sex & the City revival, COVID is the Carrie Bradshaw of the NFL, shredding the careers of fully grown men.

So what does this mean for Week 15 in the NFL?
We will break it all down for you in our Deck the League podcast.

Wade & Ryan are back and virus free, as they offer you a Christmas Party of a podcast.
Don’t worry about missing out on the pub, just crank this up to 11 and see what knowledge drip feeds into your lineups.

NFLinLondon · Deck the Halls-W15-Ep 178

COVID Games

Thus far, 3 of the NFL games for Week 13 have been moved due to COVID, but more could come.

Sean Payton is already out for the big game against the Bucs after testing positive, too bad the trailer for his new Netflix movie had no tests of positivity.

We will let you know anything that we hear about the games, and when they might be played.

Among some of the games the guys look at in the episode include:

Patriots (9-4) vs -2 Colts (7-6) +45.5

The Patriots are one of the few teams not to get sidelined by the virus this weekend, as we all know that Bill Belichick plans for the biggest threat against them.
See ya virus.

The Colts are favoured by 2 points, despite having a worse record than New England? What does Las Vegas know that we don’t?

Ryan and Wade both like the Pats to keep moving on here, as they seem to dink and dunk enough to get the job done.

Ryan thinks that the game will be a low scoring one, and Wade thinks it will be a back and forth, tight chess match that could get boring for a late night UK fan.

Ryan-Pats 21 Colts 17
Wade-Pats 27 Colts 24

Panthers (5-8) vs -10.5 Bills (7-6)

Oh how the mighty have fallen, a statement that echoes for both of these teams.

Carolina started strong on the back of Christian Mc, and a solid defence.
Now the Panthers are struggling to stay in games, and Cam Newton is atrocious.

Buffalo has gone from number one on the division, to hoping to make a shot at the playoffs.
They need to win this one to stay in it!

Ryan likes his Bills to blow out the lowly Panthers, and get back to their winning ways at home.

Wade struggles to see the Bills covering such a large spread given injuries, COVID and western New York weather.

Ryan-Bills 35 Panthers 13
Wade-Bills 24 Panthers 14

Seahawks (5-8) vs -5 LA Rams (9-4) +45.5

Russ is cooking once again on the back of a rejuvenated running game, and Tyler Lockett getting his groove back.
The Seahawks are in a deep playoff hole, and the chances of them making a post season run fall deeper every week.

LA Rams finally got a win, batting down the pesky Cardinals in a game that saw them still stay in contention for a solid playoff chance. They also got COVID. A lot of it.

Ryan thinks that Seattle will continue their winning ways, sticking it to Matt Stafford and his bad back of infected team mates.

Wade thinks that even an LA Rams team covered in COVID is still better than a healthy Seattle team.

Ryan-Seahawks 30 Rams 24
Wade-Rams 26 Seahawks 23
