Wade’s Week 8 Picks

October 27, 2019 by nflinlondon

You ready to win some money betting on the NFL?
Great!
Our man Wade is here to help with some of his tips to parlay this week if you are looking to make some serious cash!

Here are Wade’s top picks for a great week 8.

-13.5 LA Rams (4-3) vs Bengals (0-7)

Welcome to London, where public beatings were once coming practise, and looks like another one is in store this weekend. The forecast calls for sunny skies, which won’t do anything to help Andy Dalton and the struggling cats.
Goff will relentlessly torch their depleted secondary, hitting Woods, Cooks and Kupp for loads of points.
Loads of tickets still available for this stink show.

Eagles (3-4) vs -2 Bills (5-1)

The Bills are more surprised than anyone that they have a winning record like this. The Eagles had high hopes this season, but Carson Wentz is playing like garbage.
The Eagles will look to fly high in this one, as Buffalo probably won’t be prepared for a hungry team in need of a .500 record halfway through the season.
Eagles to upset.

Jets (1-5) vs -6 Jaguars (3-4)

It’s Darnold vs Minshew. A guy coming off of mono vs a guy who looks like he spreads it without consequence. Darnold will see less ghosts this week, as he looks to exorcize the demons from the Patriots. Jets will be fired up, and the Jags will be slow moving targets.
Jets will cover, and probably win.

-8 Seahawks (5-2) vs Falcons (1-6)

Matt Schaub is QB for the Falcons tonight. Wait, who? The guy who hasn’t played since 2005? Yep-that guy. He will struggle against a Seahawks team that is coming off an emotional loss last week. Look for Russell Wilson to rebound and punt-chucking the ball all over the field.
Seahawks to cruise comfortably.

If you wager $10 on this parlay-you should get odds of 13.6
So you will gross $136.00, for a net profit of $126!!
Easy money!

NCAA Saturday

October 25, 2019 by nflinlondon

So you want to watch college football on Saturday, but where are you going to watch it?
In short-no where.
The UK isn’t big into college sports, and NCAA football would be the least likely thing on their agenda, but there are a few places that will show the games.
So we’re here to help.
There is a selection of games on BTSport/ ESPN- so if you are in a pub or hotel, you can always find the games on that channel (Sky 434).

Football

Football is Saturday in England, and you have zero chance of a pub turning on the game for ‘American Football.’
There is a 5:30 match between Burnley and Chelsea, so that is going to go on until 7:30.
You might be able to catch the 8:30 games at some places.

Princess Alexandra

Crouch End’s own sports bar will be showing college football as well as the ‘soccer.’
They will switch to both NCAA games after the conclusion of the Chelsea game.
Which match do you want to watch? Just talk to the bar & they can help you out.

Bodean’s

This BBQ joint is usually packed at most of its Saturday locations. They will be showing football at most of the locations, but if you ask nicely-you might get them to switch it on.
Best chances for this would be the Soho, and Old Street locations.
You may not get sound on, so be prepared.
bodeansbbq.com

Belushi’s-London Bridge

This place traditionally shows NCAA football in a sporadic manner. Sometimes it’s on, sometimes not. They will generally book in large groups, so you might have trouble getting a table. It is always busy-so get there early if you want to get a table.
Not sure what games they will show.

Hotel Bars

If you have a big group of people with you, and you’re staying in a hotel..try the bar!
Hotels love to take care of their guests, so they will go out of their way to accommodate.
As the concierge to set it up, and get them to switch to the BT Sport channels on Sky.
Good thing about hotels, is that their own bars will stay open late.
Enjoy the games!

A few late night Sunday thoughts for your consideration.

  • London is not a 24 hr town, plan ahead. Download a tube map app, Uber (or other taxi), Citymapper, Buschecker & what3words.
  • Leicester Square is very busy and grimy. You probably won’t get in, and you might get pick pocketed.
  • Football rules. Premier League games start at 4:30pm, which means they end at 6:30pm. If you go to certain bars-they won’t switch the NFL on until after the match. Plan ahead.
  • If your table has a number on it, order from the bar. Table service is not like home.
  • The tube shuts around midnight at most stations. Late buses go 24 hrs. Download Citymapper so that you can plan your route home.
  • Watch yourself. Keep your eyes up, your phone in your pocket, and don’t take unlicensed taxis. Or rickshaws.
  • If you’re too drunk, go home. It’s bad for everyone.
  • Have fun, treat people nicely and enjoy. It’s a gorgeous city, and we’re glad you’re here!

London-This Weekend

October 23, 2019 by nflinlondon

Welcome to London NFL fans! Any plans on tap aside from the big game?
Well we have you covered with some extra fun stuff you can do this weekend prior to the LA Rams vs Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley stadium.

Whether it’s food, fun, drinks, laughs or sporting fun-let us help you out with the lowdown of fun.

Rugby World Cup

NFL rules the roost this Sunday, but it will be all eyes on the Rugby World Cup on Saturday morning as England face the beasts from the south-New Zealand.
The match kicks off at 9am on Saturday-so get yourself to a local London pub to watch it over Bloody Mary’s and breakfast sandwiches.
There’s more rugby on Sunday-as Wales take on South Africa in an epic match.
There will be loads of lovely Welsh folk out Sunday morning for this 9am kickoff.
Make a new Welsh friend and see if you can spell the name of the town their from!

Comic-Con

Hey you geeks! Love cosplay, comic books  & random celebrity stuff?
Then head on down to Comic-Con and get your Nerd-On!
Simon Pegg will be there, as well as a whole host of other celebrities you kind of might know.
Wear your NFL gear there and convince fans you play for the team.
There’s a pretty good chance none of them watch sports.
www.mcmcomiccon.com/london/

Country Music Week

Did you know that London has a huge country music fanbase? Or that every year it hosts C2C, the largest country music event in the country?
Boom!
There are oodles of venues across the city showcasing US and UK country artists.
Get into the spirit of it with great food, cold beer and lots of dancing.
Saddle up buckeroo, it’s getting country up in here!
c2c-countrytocountry.com/country-music-week/

Haunted Pub Crawl

It’s a drinking event…with ghosts!
Everyone loves to be paranoid when they’re drinking so get into the spirits.
There are loads of London tour companies offering this type of thing, so with Halloween approaching these are very popular.
Most tours are around 2-3 hours for a pub crawl (doesn’t include beer) and they are a fun way to meet new people, see the city and get pissed.
Here’s one to check out.
www.london-walking-tours.co.uk/the-haunted-london-pub-walk.htm

Football

Call it soccer to their faces. I dare you.
Get into the English spirit by watching Premier League games this weekend with a whole host of games being played.
Games generally start on Saturday at noon, with matches going on til about 7pm.
Sunday games start at 2pm and continue on til around 6:30pm.
If you plan on watching the NFL game in a pub…you probably won’t get to see it until at least half-time.
Pubs WILL NOT switch football over to NFL, they may not turn on the sound, and they will close early.
We will let you know what to do after the game Sunday.
Liverpool play Tottenham on Sunday at 4:30-so expect a busy one.
Also because Arsenal, West Ham, & Watford all play Sunday, getting home from the stadium will take a LONG TIME!
Plan ahead.

Phobophobia

Ready to have the crap scared out of you?
Then head to London Bridge and the vaults for Phobophobia, a collection of some of their scariest experiences.
With pulsating lights, holograms, zombies, and more monsters this is surely expected to scare the crap out of you.
It’s 16+ and if you’re epileptic-this will surely put you over the edge.
www.thelondonbridgeexperience.com

Day Light Saving Time

Damn farmers and their stupid rules.
The time change happens this Sunday at 2am, which means the clocks fall back an hour.
Sure you will get a bit more sleep, just don’t miss the game!
Normally NFL games start at 6pm in the UK, but this week they start at 5pm.
That gives you a bit (not much) more daylight.

That’s just the tip of the London iceberg.
Feel free to contact us about things you might want to do, and hopefully we can help you out!
Join us Sunday at the Princess Alex in Crouch End for loads of NFL fun.
Open late!
See you Sunday.
