The NFL hype-train is in full effect, as fantasy fans start making their predictions as to who will be the best rookie in 2024.  But who are some of the players who had the Best Rookie Years?
Let’s take a look at the list at several rookies have made an immediate impact, leaving their mark from day one. These athletes didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them, setting the stage for illustrious careers. Here, we take a look at seven NFL rookies who had truly breakout seasons, capturing the attention of fans and analysts alike.
Who knows, maybe someone in 2024 will crack it as well?

1. Randy Moss (1998, Minnesota Vikings)

Randy Moss burst onto the NFL scene in 1998 and quickly became one of the most electrifying wide receivers the league has ever seen. Drafted 21st overall by the Minnesota Vikings, Moss made an immediate impact with his unique combination of size, speed, and athleticism. During his rookie season, Moss caught 69 passes for 1,313 yards and an astonishing 17 touchdowns. His ability to stretch the field with deep routes opened up the Vikings’ offense, helping them achieve a 15-1 regular season record. History of the NY Giants

As we continue our look at the history of NFL teams, we turn our attention to a franchise that will be turning 100 years old next year, and they do look good for their age. The G-Men will turn 100 in 2025, as we dig deep into the History of the NY Giants  

The New York Giants, one of the most storied franchises in the National Football League (NFL), have a rich history filled with triumphs, iconic players, and unforgettable moments. This journey through time will take you from their early days to their remarkable appearances on the international stage, particularly their games in England, which have been a thrill for UK Giants fans.

 The Birth of a Franchise

The New York Giants were founded in 1925 by Tim Mara with an initial investment of just $500. Little did Mara know, his modest investment would grow into a powerhouse of American football. The team quickly made a name for itself, winning its first NFL Championship in 1927, just two years after its inception. The Giants’ early success can be attributed to their rugged defense and a roster filled with talented players who played with grit and determination.

Little did he also know that one his great granddaughters would star in a flop of a ‘Fantastic Four’ remake, that would literally have him rolling over in his grave.

Championships and Legends

The Giants dominated the NFL in the 1930s and 1950s, becoming synonymous with championship success. Under the guidance of legendary coaches like Steve Owen and later Vince Lombardi (as an assistant), the Giants built a legacy of excellence. Key players during these decades included Mel Hein, Frank Gifford, and Sam Huff, whose contributions cemented the Giants’ place in NFL history.

One of the most memorable moments came in the 1958 NFL Championship Game, often dubbed “The Greatest Game Ever Played.” The Giants faced the Baltimore Colts in a thrilling contest that went into sudden-death overtime. Despite losing 23-17, the game’s excitement and the national television broadcast helped popularize the NFL across the United States.

Struggles and Rebirth

The 1960s and 1970s were challenging decades for the Giants. They struggled to find consistent success on the field, and their once-proud franchise experienced numerous losing seasons. However, the arrival of head coach Bill Parcells in 1983 marked the beginning of a new era.

Under Parcells, the Giants won their first Super Bowl in 1986, defeating the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI. This victory was followed by another championship in 1990, where they triumphed over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV, a game remembered for Scott Norwood’s infamous missed field goal attempt. Giants Across the Pond

The Giants have not only made their mark in the United States but have also played a significant role in the NFL’s international expansion. The team participated in the league’s International Series, playing games in England to promote American football abroad, much to the delight of G-Men fans in Britain.

Their first trip to England came in 2007 when they faced the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium. In a rain-soaked contest, the Giants emerged victorious, winning 13-10. This game was a historic moment as it was the first NFL regular-season game played outside of North America. The Giants returned to London in 2016, where they faced the Los Angeles Rams at Twickenham Stadium. Once again, the Giants showcased their resilience, securing a 17-10 win in front of an enthusiastic international crowd. 2022 was an even better result for the Giants, as they were able to topple Aaron Rodgers and the Pack 27-22 in an October 9th game. Three visits and three wins for the Giants in London, something other teams would love to boast in the UK.

As the New York Giants continue to build on their storied legacy, they remain a team steeped in tradition and excellence. With a dedicated fan base and a commitment to success, the Giants are poised to create new memories and add more chapters to their illustrious history.

London Games 2024

We can all breathe a collective sigh of relief as the NFL has finally released the upcoming schedule, allowing us to know who is playing in the London Games 2024. Once again it looks like the UK is in for another set of great games, Germany-not so much.

The 2024 has given us a whole new set of viewing parameters for the season, with the Chiefs playing on six different days of the week, the Jets feasting on primetime games, and the Panthers sucking on a big old bag of nothing. So much to think about, and the season hasn’t even started yet!

Let’s look at the London games we have lined up for October 2024.

Jets vs Vikings-Oct 6-Tottenham

Aaron Rodgers is coming to London folks-if he’s healthy, as the first game up is an AFC/ NFC contest.
Minnesota has moved up at QB, and with the talent they have at wide receivers , this could be a matchup between two winning teams.

Early October in London is usually sunny and sweet, so we should also benefit from some balmy temperatures, and great events hosted by the NFLUK.

As the first up of the trio, this one will certainly be of media interest, as Aaron Rodgers is a constant celebrity, and full of soundbites that should tickle the UK media.

Jaguars vs Bears-Oct 13-Tottenham

Bears fans all over Europe will be salivating over this one, as they finally get to see a potential franchise quarterback in the making. Chicago already has a home nation status for England, which means that the Bears will go full out to make sure that this game will go down in the history books.

Jacksonville went 2-0 in their 2023 London games, even busting down the Buffalo Bills in a dramatic game. Then their season went downhill, so it will be interesting to see if Trevor Lawrence will be able to rebound in 2024 as they look to play in London twice again.

Patriots vs Jaguars-Oct 20-Wembley

The Jags host a second game at home, as they take on New England in an AFC showdown. Ok, maybe not a showdown, as the Pats have been less than stellar without that TB12 magic.

The Patriots are committed to Drake Make, and with the recent social image of him looking like Tom Brady’s son, there is hope once again in the loins of Boston. They have a tough division though, so they might be walking into London with a few wins.

It might not be the most popular of the games, but with recent news of new international destinations, this could be the last time that London sees a 3 game set for a while.

Internationals

Other NFL global games to watch out for are the week 1 match between the Packers and Eagles in Brazil on September 6th. This will be a tough test for Jordan Love against an Eagles squad looking for some NFC respect, and they have been starting strong the past few seasons.

Germany gets a bit of coin flip from last year’s AFC behemoth, as they get saddled with a lowly game between the Giants and Panthers in Week 10 on November 10th. Again, it’s easy to make quick snides like this, but who knows what could happen this year with two QBs with massive chips on their shoulders.

Other news this week tips Ireland and Australia for other upcoming potential international destinations.
Tough luck for Canada, who probably ruined their chances by hosting atrocious games in the past, and will probably never see one again unless a billionaire is able to buy a team.
