SuperBowl Food

February 1, 2020 by nflinlondon

Crafting a perfect SuperBowl menu is an art. Knowing your guests, your palate, the teams, and what tools you have at your disposal are key to making a kickass party.

Figure out how many people you have then double it. It’s a long night. Cook big or go home.
Like the game it’s good to prepare well in advance and have all of your meats chilled and ready to grill.

It’s February, if you don’t have your BBQ cleaned, gleaned, and bedazzled you’re a pussy.
Grab some charcoal and a selection of late offering, discount meats and soak them in some brine, coat them in dustings of rub, and ready your process.
It’s time to BBQ!

Here are the best SuperBowl foods to make.

Wings

Wings will probably made illegal or bio manufactured in the next 2 decades, so you might as well enjoy them now. No one wants to know how we get them, but keep them coming.
If you’re cooking wings, we suggest baking them first.
Don’t put any sauce on them, just a few spices, perhaps with a rub a bit of flour to coast the crisp.
Bake them on a rack if you can so they don’t stick.
Turn them every 7 minutes, and coat them with mayo if you have a brush.
Sounds gross, but it actually crisps and moisturises the skin.
After they’re baked, toss them in a sauce. They key is to not sauce when you cook, only after.

Nachos

Britain doesn’t do nachos well. The tortilla chips are old dust, just like their popcorn. You need real corn quesadillas to make good chips. Make your own if you can.
When you’re baking your nachos, keep it simple.
Don’t load your ship with sides, give it time.
Chips, cheese, topping. Chips, cheese topping.
Get it.
Plan ahead.
It’s your wall, be the ice dragon who eats & destroys it.
Layer and lay waste to your guests.

Hot Dogs

All beef or no question. Britain likes to do pork dogs and they taste like ass. Only go with a quality dog. Loads of butchers are happy to oblige. If you’re in the UK, try a boerwurst. A lovely South African beef sausage that is sure to satisfy your fans.

Popcorn

Always have popcorn ready. It is a staple, and a salty elixir to drink. Soak it in butter like the dirty corn that it is, or just salt it & let it work for you. Popcorn is easy, cheap, salty..just like your mom.

What are your fave recipes?

Wades Late Picks

December 29, 2019 by nflinlondon

Greetings from Canada, where the games are a reasonable 5 hrs behind the U.K.

As I sit in a WildWings bar, scoffing some of the 101 flavours of chicken wings, I am struck by the crazy 1st game scores. Loads of teams are playing out of their heads, while others are trying to steady theirs.

Upon looking at the scores & spreads I have adjusted some of my 4pm game picks.

-9 Titans vs Texans

This game first came up as a 3 point spread, then rocketed to 9. The Texans are sitting loads of players, so you can see why. 9 points though? That’s just a bit much for my taste given how low these first game scores have been. I can’t see them making it that high. Texans cover.

Redskins vs -13 Cowboys

The Redskins have been like herpes this season, infecting & itching the opposition. The Cowboys need a win, but 13 points against a team who has been getting under the skin of every team? Doubtful. Heck, they might even win. Redskins cover.

-3.5 Eagles vs Giants

Go Daniel go! These two teams have had a wild season with each other, & this game will be the same. But remember the adage that ‘a team that needs to win, rarely does.’ Giants will make this game tough. Giants cover.

Steelers vs -1 Ravens

The Ravens will barely care about this game as they want to stay healthy. The Steelers want to go out with a bang, boom & happy ending. They will be motivated to finish 9-7 for the season & they should. Steelers win.

Make your bets on BetRegal, & see how you do with my picks.

Put down a tenner on these & make a nifty £124.90!

Good luck!

Bleak 15

December 17, 2019 by nflinlondon

Yeah, that’s right. Bleak. What a woeful week in the league, as some teams played off their head, while others looked like they had their heads taken clean off.

I went 4-11-1, which is one of the worst beatings I have taken all season.
Why did I suck so bad?
Ask some of the teams I picked, who couldn’t score in the NY strip club ‘Scores’ with a wad of Benjamins.

Let’s take a look at some of these games to see what the heck happened.

Bears 13 Packers 21

And just like that, it’s over for the Bears. Despite their 3 recent wins, they weren’t able to muster much offence in the face of the Pack. Rodgers attempted to gash the Bears with a few deep ball options, but it was Aaron Jones who did the leg work, rushing for 2 big TDs.
Near the end, it looked like the Bears might threaten, but that didn’t last very long.
The Packers move up in the NFC thanks to the win, but they still don’t really seem like contenders in the face of the opposition.
Mitch Trubisky might want to move out of Chicago as soon as the off season starts.

Broncos 3 Chiefs 23

Let it snow! Let it snow! What the hell? You don’t expect much when it comes to snow games in KC, as the under points are pretty much guaranteed. I had expected the Broncos to cover the 9.5pt spread, but no. They had to suck dramatically on Sunday.
Drew Lock looked like he could use some WD40, as Travis Kelce had more yards that then whole Denver team heading into the 4th quarter.
For a team that had been so dominant in previous weeks, it sucked to see them fall apart like that.
Mahomes was on fire in the snow, and he will use that arm to melt December opposition.

Eagles 37 Redskins 27

Dwayne Haskins was putting the Eagles to sleep heading into the half, with a dominant performance that kept the Eagles on their back feet. Then the choke started to wrap around the throat of the Redksins, like Lord Vader himself was taking their breath.
Greg Ward was an absolute beast, and Miles Sanders ran all over the hapless Redskins.
I liked McLaurin in the game who had a great game.
I wrongly thought that the Redskins would keep it close, and they did…until they started fucking up.

Browns 24 Cardinals 38

This one I got right. I had the Cardinals to beat the bad bad Browns, and they sure did that!
Kenyan Drake had a 4 TD day, as the Cardinals snapped a 6 game losing streak.
Kyler Murray had a great game on the field, and on his feet.
Baker Mayfield and the Browns looked like they were playing on their backs…while hungover.
You can even hear numerous Browns players chatting to Cards players saying they want to be traded.
Reminds me of when Soviet athletes would visit America, then just leave their hotel at night to defect.
Cleveland has another full decade of losing seasons.

Texans 24 Titans 21

This was Tennessee’s game to lose, and boy did they lose it.
They were down 21 points in the 3rd quarter, and rallied to make it look closer than it was.
They now need help to win the division if they want to stay alive in the next 2 games.
Derrick Henry was choked out of another 100 yard game, as the Texans effectively put the clamps on him.
The Titans looked unstoppable in the past 4 games, now they are going to have to refocus and figure out what they need to do to get back to winning ways.

LA Rams 21 Cowboys 44

‘Dem boys were back at home on Sunday, and they delivered an ass-whopping to the Rams.
LA had been on a roll for the past 2 games, and it looked like they were starting to get their form back.
Despite Dak having a brain fart during the coin toss, they were able to dehorn the Rams in an epic fashion, erasing the big wins the Rams put together in the previous weeks.
Zeke looked on fine form, and Dallas out-rushed the Rams 263-22.
The Rams could barely find their legs all game, and Goff was Goff’ing it up once again.
Both of these teams have playoff hopes, but making it past the first round is VERY hopeful for both.

Falcons 29 49ers 22

What a week to lose a game! The flashy pants 49ers went from a first round bye, to needing some wins to guarantee that they can actually make it in.
The 49ers not only shot themselves in the foot in this one, they then shot themselves in the head while looking down their own smoking barrel. The Falcons were able to score 2 touchdowns in 2 seconds, winning the game and shocking the double denim stadium.
Jimmy G and the whole O didn’t look good against the Falcons. Yeah, you heard that right.
There was a sense of dread at the middle of the season that the 49ers didn’t have the ‘right stuff’ to win it all, and this game may have brought that discussion back.
It was good to see Julio Jones smile, but this game was ugly.

Ugh.
I now feel nauseous watching recaps of Week 15.
It reminds me of when I use to text and drink. (I don’t do that anymore)
I felt bad the next day, Monday and even Tuesday.
This was an NFL betting hangover.

Week 15 Picks

December 15, 2019 by nflinlondon

Week 15 is here like a December blizzard, are you ready for some football?
I am always hesitant to bet big on the final weeks of the season, because of how some teams will play above their ability to push for the playoffs.
Add to this some teams just don’t want to go out with a whimper, and you have a recipe for unpredictability.
But let’s take a stab at some of the games this week.

-6 Eagles (6-7) vs Redskins (3-10) +40.5

The Eagles are hurting. They have been so riddled by injuries, they have guys playing roles that they wouldn’t normally do.
The Redskins on the other hand are having some fun. They know that they suck, but they refuse to go out like a limp biscuit.
Do the Eagles actually believe that they really have a playoff chance here?
I like the Redskins the go deep on the Eagles, just like the Giants did.
The home town crowd are really going to go wild, and the Redskins are going to give themselves a Christmas miracle.

Bears (7-6) vs -4.5 Packers (10-3)

Are the Packers really a 10-3 team? Sure, they have beaten some losers, but not by much.
They have lost that zip of second half dominance and just seem to be coasting when they build up a bit of a lead.
The Bears on the other hand have started to find a rhythm now.
Trubisky looks like he can finally see the field, and it looks like Nagy has given him permission to be able to use his legs again.
This will be a different result than it was in Week 1, as the fierce Packers D seems to have settled down a bit.
Aaron Rodgers will still be the difference, but a 4.5pt spread seems a tad high here.

-9.5 Patriots (10-3) vs Bengals (1-12)

Will there be any surprises in this game, or did the Pats video everything they need to know. This is obviously going to be a point of contention here.
The Bengals are the worst team in the league, but with Andy Dalton back, do they have a little chance?
Maybe.
This is a pretty high spread this late in the season.
The Patriots don’t have a lot of offensive weapons, so I don’t see a lot of points in snowy Cincinnati.
Patriots will win, but look for the Bengals to cover this one.

Texans (8-5) vs -3 Titans (8-5)

One of these teams will be on to the playoffs, the other will be licking their wounds.
The Texans have had some great wins, but some brutal losses to losers.
The Titans are now finding their grove, pushing further into the playoffs with some great plays by Henry and Tannehill.
Playing at home will give them an advantage here, and with Fuller a gametime decision, the Texans don’t have as many weapons at their disposal as they would like.
I like the Titans to cover this spread and move on to glory.

-6 Seahawks (10-3) vs Panthers (5-8)

What in the Russell Wilson is going on with the Seahawks? They were coasting with some solid victories, but then got absolutely handled by the Rams.
Are they for real, or do they have too many problems as injuries take their toll?
The Panthers have been a real embarrassment this year. Kyle Allen has led them down the loser path, and McCaffrey has been dragging the team on their back.
They do play well at home though, and a good holiday showing will be something important for the Carolina crowd.
Panthers should be able to cover, as the Seahawks will be focused on next week.

Jaguars (4-9) vs -6.5 Raiders

It’s the final game at the LA Colosseum, and the Raiders will want to put on a home show.
If Josh Jacobs can get his wheels going, there will be trouble.
The Jags meanwhile have given up.
They are officially out of it, their D sucks, and the only real threat they have is Fournette-who may not even feel up to it.
The Raiders will look for a big win here, as they say farewell to the fans and off to Vegas.
This will be one last party.
