Week 4 Preview

October 3, 2020 by nflinlondon

Week 4 of the NFL is here, and oh what a doozy it is. Or is it dizzy? Number 19 Covid has lined up in this weeks formation, and things just got a whole lot virusy.

Wade & Ryan are at the hot mike mess, breaking down some of the games from last week as well as offering some top tips to help you win this week in fantasy and on your bets.
Wade bested last week with an 11-5 record against the spread, while Ryan potted a nice 7-9.
We learned that the Jets suck, Giants suck, hell most of the east coast of the US is sucking a big one. It’s going to be tough for some teams to turn it around down 4 games to start a season.

Colts vs Bears
Colts -2.5  +45

The 0 and 3 Bears are underdogs to an inconsistent Indianapolis team led by Philip Rivers. Is it fair to up the Colts when they have shown that they can beat by teams like the Jags? The Colts have shown a solid D and fast paced running game, but playing the Bears is not like playing the Jets. Chicago are swelling with pride after Foles came in to save the game, so a home game should be factored in their favour.
This should be either be really low scoring, or really high scoring, but given recent weeks look to the latter.
Ryan-Colts 27-23
Wade-Bears 28 Colts 24

Jaguars vs Bengals
Bengals -3  +48

Minshew versus Burrow in an important home game for Cinci. Minshew looks lost without DJ Chark, so his absence will put all the heat on Robinson. Jacksonville has played some tighter D, and some of their injured players will be back to bolster the secondary. Tyler Eifert might look to offer a ‘screw you’ touchdown to his former club.
Ryan-Bengals 24 Jags 16
Wade-Jags 24  Bengals 21

Browns vs Cowboys
Cowboys -4.5  +56

Oh Dem Boyz are off to a weird start of 1-2 despite chucking up loads of points every game. They have comebacks and beat downs, so the Browns will offer an interesting contest. Cleveland has some injured players returning on D who will be much needed in the pass rush to help Miles get to Dak. Baker has to prove himself in this one as he hasn’t really shown the zip he use to. Maybe playing in his collegiate state will help fire the loins of his youth.
Ryan Cowboys 34 Browns 24
Wade Cowboys 28 Browns 26

Patriots vs Chiefs
Postponed

Bill Belichick plays his best player this week, sending #19 Covid onto the field to take down all of the best players. It was a bold move for Belichick.

Watching NFL Games

October 1, 2020 by nflinlondon

Looking to watch the NFL for week 4 in London? Not going to lie, things have changed dramatically thanks to Covid 19, so watching the NFL the way you use to is going to be tough.
Bars and pubs have to close by 10pm, which means drinks and food are cleared even earlier.
You will also need to book seats in advance, and table time is generally limited to 2 hours, which isn’t ideal for NFL fans.

The Premier League has also had to adapt to the new normal, which means there are now more games on a Sunday. In previous years the PL would be done and dusted by 5:45, which was perfect timing to get the start of the first series of games.
Now football/soccer has games at 4:30 and 7:15 pm, which totally screws the NFL over. Most pubs will be packed with punters looking to watch footie, so you would have a better chance of buying a Sun newspaper in Liverpool than you would getting them to switch channels.
Week 4 competes with Man U vs Tottenhams at 4:30pm, and Aston Villa vs Liverpool at 7:15pm, so it will be very hard to get a pub that shows the games with sound.

There are some pubs that will be showing NFL, we thought we would point you to a few we know.

Princess Alexandra-Crouch End

This North London boozer is one of our faves, and is an NFL venue with a traditional pub feel. Only 10 minutes from Finsbury Park station, this pub has 4 TVs, loads of room and two patios.
The Alex shows both the Sky game, as well as Redzone.
The owner Nick is a real gem, and his staff are very warm and accommodating. They also have two Alaskan Malmutes, who will help you clean your plate.
The pub is usually open until 1am, but with new Covid it must close at 10pm.
You will need to make a reso, and football rules, but he will deffo have Sky or Redzone up by 6:20pm.

Maple Leaf-Covent Garden

You like Canadian pubs eh? Well this little hoser is a real treat of a pub. Located smack dab in the middle of Covent Garden, this Canucklehead bar has lots of TV, and traditional Canadian fare & beer.
The pub also must close at 10pm, and you will need a reservation, but its central location means that you can meet with friends, and all split to grab the tube home.
The Maple Leaf shows the Sky game and Redzone on numerous TVs, so you have lots of angles to view the games.
Say hi to Zach the manager, he’s the man.

Sports Bar & Grill-Farringdon

Farringdon is usually a dead zone on the weekends, which makes going to the SB&G a perfect place for your Sunday Funday. Just a short walk from the tube station, this sports bar is heaving with TVs and loads of beers on tap. They also have a pool table, great outdoor space, and plenty of wings to make your Sunday stuffed.
They show both the Sky game and Redzone, and you will need a reservation. Like all pubs, it closes at 10pm, so you will need to book ahead.
Luckily they have loads of TVs, so you will be able to get a game on if you ask the manager Martin nicely.

Leicester Arms Pub-Piccadilly Circus

In the heart of central London, this traditional pub has sports galore on the weekends. It is more of a football/ soccer pub, so you will need to book ahead to see if you can secure a space to watch NFL.
The food is traditional pub fare, and they have loads of beers on tap so you can wash down your team’s loss.
The pub does close at 10pm due to Covid, so you will only be able to watch the first set of games.
Book your table here.

We will continue to update the list of bars and pubs that show the NFL. If you’re a bar or pub who shows the NFL in the UK, or would like to in the future, please get in touch.

Have a great week, and hopefully all this virus nonsense is behind us soon. Stay safe and sane!

Sky Week 4

September 30, 2020 by nflinlondon

UPDATE-New Game announced!
Are you ready for some Sky NFL? They have released their games for Week 4, and there are some great games and a few stinkers.

Thursday is a real stink fest as the NY Jets host the Denver Broncos. Both are 0-3 and have been riding the suck wave since the start of the season. Luckily it’s on at 1:30 am so you can sleep.

Sunday brings us Steelers vs Titans at 6pm…or does it..NOPE. You know get to watch the Browns vs the Cowboys. You know you want it.
9pm is the Patriots vs Kansas City Chiefs, which should factor in as one of the best of the week and high scoring.
Just a note that these games are unavailable on NFL Gamepass.

Late Sunday/ early Monday is the Eagles and 49ers in another snooze-a-thon, so you might want to wake up for this one.

Monday Night/ Tuesday morning is the Green Bay Packers hosting the Atlanta Falcons in a high scoring affair. How much of a lead will the Falcons blow this time?

Passing Leaders-Week 4

September 30, 2020 by nflinlondon

Dak Prescott might not be able to get all the W’s, but he certainly is racking up the yards heading into week 4. The cowboys have face some tough opposition, but Dak has been able to keep games close by torching weak midfields with his relentless attacks. He’s facing a tough Browns D this week, so we’ll see if he can hold onto number 1.

Josh Allen is more like ‘Josh Alien’ with his out of this world passing and runs. He needed to pull it all together last week to stop the Rams from ruining his parade. Josh will face the Raiders this week, which has enough holes for Allen to exploit.

Matt Ryan is on fire, too bad it’s like one of those bag of dog poo fires that gets all over you. Matty Ice has been connecting downfield, but not enough to give them the scores. He faces the Packers this week who are tough to pass against. Matty might drop this week.

Russell Wilson is the man, and he could have jumped higher up the rankings had DK Metcalf not been a silly-willy-nilly and let that ball get knocked out in the end zone. He will look to feast on a Miami D in week 4.

Patrick Mahomes might be only the 4th rated NFL player by his peers, but heading into week 4 he’s #5 in passing yards. He’s playing Bill Belichick and the Patriots this week, so let’s see if he can carve those stats even higher.

Who will have the best passing yards this week? Make sure you play along in our fantasy contests to win big.

Karen Falcon

September 30, 2020 by nflinlondon

What happens when you anger a Karen from Atlanta? She burns all her Falcons gear and gives you an ear full that’s what.

The Falcons are off to an atrocious season, and have been victim to more cumbacks than Jenna Jameson in the 90s. Matty Ice has been playing well, despite the fact his team continues to be crippled by injuries.

Not sure why someone would spend thousands on merch only to toss it into the flames a short time later. Don’t hate the players, hate the game.

The Falcons should bounce back in week 4 when they face the…Packers. Really, the Packers? Yeah-they’re going to be 0-4 next week.
Get your jerseys ready Atlanta, red and black might be burning on Monday morning.
