Wild Weekend

January 20, 2022 by nflinlondon

And we move on in the NFL, as the wildcard is now behind us as the post season heats up.

Wade and Ryan are back with another great podcast, as they look at the Wild Weekend that lays behind us.

Have a listen, a laugh and a lather to our latest episode to see how it tickles your fancy.

NFLinLondon · Wild Weekend-Ep 185

Among some of the things that the guys discuss in this week’s podcast.

Big Bloated Ben

Ben Roethlisberger seems to have played his last game in the NFL, are swelling his way to his final post season game.

There’s no doubting the legacy of Big Ben, and the Super Bowls he chased and won. Sadly father time has other plans, and they involve keeping Tom Brady alive.

Pittsburgh Steelers are going to be in a world of hurt for the next few seasons if they can’t get a QB whose name isn’t ‘Rudolph’.

Fitzmagic

Fans seeing Ryan Fitzpatrick at the Bills game, shirtless in the frozen tundra all have a bunch of more respect for the dude.

Class act Fitzmagic has always played his heart out for every team he has been on, and has had a magical connection with the fans.

Knowing how loyal Bills fans are, they will probably build a statue to him, only to use the statue to launch themselves onto folding tables.

Card Carrying

The Arizona Cardinals were truly horrible heading into the post season game. They looked lost in the game, and Tyler Murray was suddenly shook by a 4 front that bugged and bothered him all day.

If wee Tyler can’t deal with these types of games and shone through, then maybe he should go back to baseball.

Arizona fell apart when it mattered, and there aren’t many signs to show that they wouldn’t do it again if given the chance.

Burrows

Joe Burrow is getting that swagger as Cincy puts together wins.

After a close call against the Raiders, the Bengals will look to take it to the Titans at home.

Fans have to admire the confidence of Burrow, as he takes his incomplete team to Nashville, for an exciting Saturday game.

Even if the Bengals get stuffed by the Titans, fans know that JB and the boys will be back next season to build on an already great foundation for this team to get more wins.

Meet Jason Bell

The Sports Bar & Grill Clapham will be hosting a Superbowl preview show with ex NFL player Jason Bell on Tuesday Feb 1st.

Initial tickets are £5, but those tickets are limited, and you will want to get them quick.

This is a great chance to ask Jason about the Superbowl, and any other NFL related questions that you might have for the former Texan and Giant.

Then event is being promoted by Budweiser UK, and Give Me Sport.

Get your tickets here!

Wild Picks

January 15, 2022 by nflinlondon

The regular season is over, and it’s time to get ready for the post season, as we look ahead to the weekend ahead in the NFL in our Wild Picks podcast.

Wade & Ryan are ready for the big weekend ahead even if the games are really late, and the bars are all closed.
The NFL is town, time to get sorted.

The guys look at the five big games on tap for the Wildcard Weekend and make their predictions for the spread, score, and more.

Have a listen and laugh at this new episode, exclusive to NFL in London fans!

NFLinLondon · Wild Picks-Ep 184

Among some of the guys picks for the Wildcard Weekend.

Raiders (10-7) vs -5.5 Bengals (10-7) +48.5

Two AFC teams who are bruised and battered after a lengthy regular season, as well as the shortest time to play games of any of the post season teams.

The Raiders have been humbled by injuries, arrests, suspensions, and drama this season, so its any wonder that they have emerged to be able to take a run at the playoffs.
Derek Carr has carried on the team on his back, but how long can his back hold out given the circumstances?

The Bengals pushed towards the playoffs by being absolute beasts, with Joe Burrow ripping the field apart thanks to Chase and the boys.
It’s hard not to see how the Bengals won’t continue their winning ways, with a home town weather forecast that will scare the black and silver off the Las Vegas team.

Wade & Ryan both like the Bengals to win, but predict a closer game than the pundits in Vegas.

Ryan- Bengals 30 Raiders 27
Wade- Bengals 30 Raiders 28

Patriots (10-7) vs -4 Bills (11-6)  +43

It’s going to be another cold night in western New York, as the Bills host the Pats for a second time this season. The first game didn’t bring joy to Buffalo, so hopefully they can get that happy step in action to take out another win against these division rivals.

Bill Belichick will erase one part of the Bills squad, but which one? And does he have enough rubber to burn out more than one Buffalo player? Seems unlikely.

Wade & Ryan are both nervous about this game, but given that Ryan is a massive Bills fan…his nerves are a bit more frayed.
They both have the same score though!

Ryan-Bills 27 Pats 20
Wade-Bills 27 Pats 20

That’s it for the Saturday scores, we will have our Sunday predictions up tomorrow, or you can just listen to the podcast to hear it all.

Memes 18

January 13, 2022 by nflinlondon

And just like that, the 2021 NFL regular season is done and dusted.

What a crazy and wild ride this season has been! COVID, lies, injuries, COVID lies, and more injuries have led to a truly stellar season.

This was the first NFL season to add a Week 18, which has either tickled or infuriated fans.
Giddy fans are happy to have an extra week of football action, while purists are pissed that records will change, new legends will rise without merit.

One things that hasn’t changed, is our love of NFL memes. Those perfect combinations of picture, and text burn all in one lovely piece.

Here are some of our fave memes from Week 18, please enjoy them!

18 Candles

January 9, 2022 by nflinlondon

It’s finally the end of the NFL regular season, as we head into the playoffs.

There is particular reason to celebrate this year, as the league was able to overcome COVID, fake vax certificates, Aaron Rodgers, AB, and the addition of another week of regular season play to topple all the old records.

In honour of making it this far, we offer up our 18 Candles podcast, where Wade & Ryan celebrate this extra week of games, by making their picks and predictions for all the games.

Make sure you check out our podcast here, where you can listen to all of the guys predictions for the Week 18 games.

NFLinLondon · 18 Candles-Ep 182

Among some of the games that the guys look at in this podcast includes:

-4 Packers (13-3) vs Lions (2-13-1)  +44.5

The Packers have secured the top seed again, as they coast into the playoffs that have thwarted them for the past decade. With Aaron Rodgers and most of the starters expected to rest, this is a great chance for some of the backups to get some field time.

The Lions have had a woeful, yet inspired season thus far. Despite being the worst team in the league to start the season, the Lions have had some emotional games that have had fans applauding their resilience.

Wade & Ryan both think that this game will be close, although Wade has the plucky Lions winning the game off the inspired play of Jared Goff and the St. Brown.
Ryan likes the Packers to still win the game, but thinks that Detroit could keep it close.

Ryan- Packers 23 Lions 20
Wade- Lions 21 Packers 18

-15.5 Colts (9-7) vs Jaguars (2-14) +44

Indianapolis needs this win to keep them in the playoffs, as well as to upset much of the seedings heading into next week. Carson Wentz and the boys are ready to tumble these division rivals, and put the boot on their throat to move on.

Jacksonville is the worst team in the league…again. The Jags have played the Colts well though this year, keeping the games close despite the running phenom Taylor putting up some MVP like numbers.

Ryan thinks that the Colts will go out here, thrashing Jacksonville, and sending them limping home like Urban Meyer.
Wade points to the fact that the Colts tend to screw up big chances, and this is as big of a chance as any. He likes the Jags to keep it closer than expected.

Ryan- Colts 35 Jags 10
Wade- Colts 30 Jags 23

Bengals (10-6) vs -5.5 Browns (7-9) +38

How can the Browns be favoured in a game against their superior stat rivals?
One of the teams is going to the playoffs, and the other is going to play this game, and hope that they can figure it out in the offseason.

Joe Burrow and the Orange Cat gang can take it easy this week, as they throw out some of the back ups to try to get some field time against their Ohio foes. After an inspired win over the Chiefs last week, they have time to nurse their wounds and prepare for whomever they face on Wildcard Weekend.

Baker is done, Case is on it as the Browns shake and shimmy their line up for Week 18.
The Browns will likely rely on their running game, which has been effective and under used all season.

Ryan and Wade both like the Browns to get a more ‘needed win’ here, as many players might look to outshine their time under the Mayfield microscope.

Ryan- Browns 27 Bengals 10
Wade- Browns 24 Bengals 16

New Tears

January 6, 2022 by nflinlondon

Happy 2022 NFL in London fans! Did you have a cracking start to the new year, or has it all been a confusing jumbly mess, like last week in the NFL?

To commemorate the start of a new annum, we look back at the insane week 17 in our New Tears podcast.

Wade & Ryan look back at all of the wild and wacky week that was 17 in the NFL.

NFLinLondon · New Tears-Week 17-Ep 181

Antonio Brown

In a selfish, meltdown moment, AB lost the ply, jumping up and down in the end zone in the Bucs comeback against the Jets.

Team-mates were quick to interject that AB needs compassion for his mental health at the moment, and that he would no longer play for the team or the NFL.

AB came back to say that the team was drugging him through injuries, and he in no way felt in any condition to play. So he jumped up and down on his ankle in the end zone.

None of this makes sense, but what is becoming apparent is that TB12 has a lot of work and glue to use to get this Tampa Bay team back on track.

Bye Big Ben

In a teary goodbye game, Big Ben said goodbye to the Pittsburgh faithful in a home win against the sad sack Browns.

An emotional victory for Ben, as he waddles off into rehab pool of retirement-despite his Steelers technically in contention for a playoff spot.

Bakers Cooked

Trying to steal some of that retirement thunder was Baker Mayfield, who also quietly kind of retired on Sunday.

After Ben’s tear-jerking goodbye to the Steel City, Baker jumped into say that he is now done for the season, after playing through so many injuries.

Fans know that he should have NOT have tried playing through injuries, but that he also might not be back in Cleveland next season.

Chase Him

Jamaar Chase exploded last week, putting up over 40 points in some leagues with an epic demonstration versus the Chiefs touted D.

Breaking Justin Jefferson’s rookie record from the year before, the tandem of Burrow and Chase has been absolutely electric heading into the post season.

Washington Admirals

WFT has slowly been erasing all traces of ‘Redskins’ from their records, they made an announcement this week that they will finally be changing their official name in February this year.

Internet sleuths were quick to check domain registrations for potential team names, and low and behold the Washington Admirals pointed back to the team.

Is this the new name? Looks like it.

Giant Pains

The NY Giants took a beating from the Bears D in week 17, and limped off into to the post season with way more questions than answers.

The head coach has to go, the QB might need to be traded, and star running back Barkley might have more injury weeks ahead than playing weeks.

Both New York teams were horrible this year, but at least the Jets showed some signs of life, and have impressed with loads of rookies stepping up.

Playoffs in London

NFL Playoffs are coming up, and we will be working with the Sports Bar & Grill to promote them.

COVID has been another kick in the nutters, with many bars still struggling with consistent numbers and government information.

You can help by booking tickets ahead of time, so that the bar knows how many people to prepare for.
