Super Bowl 57

February 11, 2023 by nflinlondon

After 20 something weeks of exciting play, it’s finally time for the big game, as we make our predictions for Super Bowl 57 in Arizona.

It is a Super Bowl of historics, not only featuring two brothers playing each other, but also the first time that two black quarterbacks have faced each other in the big game.
It does feel that we are on the precipice of the new dynasty of heroes to emerge.

To make your life easier, Wade and Ryan have compiled all of their thoughts on the big game in this easy to listen to podcast.
All you have to do is sit back, kick your feet up, and listen to two Canadians in London try to figure out the big game.

Here’s the link to the podcast:

NFLinLondon · Super Bowl 57-Ep 236

Kansas City Chiefs (14-3) vs 1-.5 Philadelphia Eagles (14-3) + 51

It’s the teams with the best two records in football, as it feels right that these two are battling it out on the final game after both teams showcased dynamic play throughout the season.
The Chiefs come into the big game as another underdog, a role they seemed to have thrived in during the playoffs.
Mahomes was able to shake off the curse of Burrows, but he wasn’t able to shake off an ankle injury, which will have all eyes on his mobility on Sunday.
The wide receiver corps is a bit a broken toy syndrome, with all of them in the workshop trying to cobble together their bodies before giving it there all.
Kansas City was even more short-handed against the Bengals, and were somehow able to thrive on the back of their D, and the stellar play of Chris Jones.
Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the league right now, it just depends on whether the rest of his team will play at the top of their game.
Philadelphia Eagles are technically in a ‘rebuilding’ year in 2022, but oh look at them go.
Philly was able to do what most teams failed to this season, make incremental gains to be a bit better than they were last year.
Their O line is top notch, boasting the best protection in the league.
Philly’s D is also humming, notching up 70 sacks, spread out amongst a dynamic team of pass rushers.
The only thing that seems to have dropped as of late is QB Jalen Hurts.
Hurts started the season on fire, but a mid-season injury seemed to take not only a bit of a spring our his step, but also the deep-ball out of his game.
If it turns into a shoot-out, the Eagles are going to need to find ways to get that ball DEEP, because this is where Mahomes thrives.
Ryan is picking the Chiefs in this one, as his AFC faithfulness believes that Mahomes and Kelce are just too good to be stopped.
He likes this one to go down to the wire, but that the red, white and yellow will be hoisting the Lombardy Trophy.
Wade is going with the Eagles, as the strength of their D, the protection from their O line, and the various running options at their disposal makes them too much to cover for a spread out D.
He thinks that the game will be close, but could actually see it get out of hand in an Eagles blow out if the Chiefs can’t keep their composure.
Ryan-Chiefs 27 Eagles 23
Wade-Eagles 26 Chiefs 23

56 Review

February 21, 2022 by nflinlondon

Congrats to the Super Bowl winning LA Rams for holding out for the big win at home to win Super Bowl 56.

The Bengals came close, Eli Apple got burnt, OBJ got hurt, the commercials suck, and the whole world has gone crypto in our 56 Review podcast.

Wade and Ryan break it all down in this podcast, as it has become evident that their love of the NFL will take a hit over the next 6 months, as the game hits its off season slumber for the next 6 months.

Here’s the podcast you filthy animals.

NFLinLondon · SuperBowl 56 Review-Ep 190
Among some of the other things that the guys talk to in this episode includes:

TB12

Adam Shefter might have ruined the news, or even inspired Tom Brady to come back for another shot at the title with a different team.
The rumour mill is churning that SoCal boy Tommy wants to end his career playing for his childhood idols, the San Francisco 49ers.
With Jimmy G riding off to the sunset, the Niners are holding out for Trey Lance to hold the keys to their future.
Will San Fran invest in the diminutive Lance, or will they crack open the wallet to welcome TB12 back to Cali?
When it comes to Tom Brady, nobody knows what to expect.

Jackson Mahomes

Was he banned from attending games? Was he caught doing cocaine at a concert? Does he actually do anything?

Jackson Mahomes was in the news again, like a stunted Kardashian.

Patrick’s little brother (and fiancee) have denied that they are being banned from attending future games, but it would really help us all if they were.

Can you still send someone to the ‘Russian Front’?

A-Aron

You can’t mention Tommy without throwing a bone to Aaron Rodgers.
Despite his desire for a ‘Last Dance’, Rodgers was once again interrupted in his journey for trophy glory, by those pesky Niners.
Add to this a separation from his fiancee (he really hates rings), and a world of wonder emerges as to what they fate of Aaron will be in 2022.
The Packers have no money, and will most likely leverage their foreseeable future trying to chase a title like the Rams did.
Will Aaron stay in Lambeau, or will he test the waters in Denver, Pittsburgh, or beyond?
Wherever he goes, just know he’s smarter than you.

Crypto Crazy

Watching the Super Bowl ads, one would think that crypto runs the world, or at least is in the pockets of every major actor.
Big celebs hocking digital currency after a pandemic shows us just how broke ass some famous people must be.
Looking at you Larry David…

Flores

Brian Flores blew up the league when he pointed out the obvious and ignored signs of racism in the league.
Despite everyone thinking that Flores would never coach again, the Steelers did a turn and hired him as the defensive co-ordinator.
The lawsuit against the league still goes ahead, but well done on Pittsburgh for taking a chance on a guy who definitely deserves a job in the league.

London Games

We have NFL games in London scheduled for 2022! Hooray all around.
While we don’t know the exact dates, and teams that will be popping over the pond, we do have a better idea of who will be coming over to entertain English crowds.
One NFL game is confirmed in Munich, as the rumour mill is churning out that the game could be a contest between the New England Patriots, and the Chicago Bears.
Watch this space for more news on the NFL in Germany.
As for the London games, we know that there will be two games at Tottenham, and another at Wembley.
The Wembley game will feature the Jacksonville Jaguars, and a yet to be named NFC team.
The New Orleans Saints have also tipped their hand that they will also be popping over to Blighty this season, using their London visit to oblige the league, and satisfy that they don’t need to return for at least 8 years.
Who will the other teams be? We will make our guesses throughout the season.

Super Thanks

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to our fantastic Super Bowl parties on Sunday.
Everything was full and fun, and good times were reported by all.
We look forward to promoting more great games for you in 2022!

Conference Picks

January 30, 2022 by nflinlondon

And then there were 4…teams left in the NFL.

The Bengals, Chiefs, Rams and 49ers all remain, and one of them will be the next Super Bowl champion. Who will it be?

Wade & Ryan break down all of the yimmer-yammer of the league, and compile it in our nice Conference Champs podcast.

Among some of the other things that the guys discuss in this episode.

NFLinLondon · Conference Preview-ep 187

Divisional Games

What a great weekend of football it was last week, with some truly incredible games.

The Bengals were able to choke out a number one seed, and set the hearts of fans a flutter with the solid play of Joe Burrow.

Green Bay saw green again, once again choking in an important match. San Fran seems to have the Packers number, and called it in once again.

TB12 still has that comeback kid mentality, unfortunately it didn’t help him in the end against Cooper Kupp and Matt Stafford.

The Bills lost in a heart-breaker, but what a game it was, and one of the best games we have seen in a long time.

Big Ben

Big Ben Roethlisberger is punching his card and heading out the door, as the Steelers QB hobbles off to the sunset.

After a season of tossing milk jugs across the field, BB finally swallowed the hard pill and limps his way to the HOF.

Rumour has it a statue in his honour was erected and put in a women’s toilet.

Jason Bell

Meet Jason Bell this Sunday at the Sports Bar and Grill Old Street!

Jason will be hosting a Q&A from 7pm, and tickets are only £5, so get them here while you can.

Super Memes

February 12, 2021 by nflinlondon

What a heck of a SuperBowl! Sure, it wasn’t that great if you hated Tom Brady, or if you were a Patrick Mahomes fan, but what a game! Ready for some Super Memes?

Every Monday morning QB went through the motions of what ‘went wrong’ for the Chiefs, and how they were able to get blown out so much.
The answer to this is defence and coaching-something that the Chiefs were unable to counter with.

Of course the best way to enjoy the aftermath of the SuperBowl is to reflect on all of the memes that were flying around afterwards.  Bless all of you out there who take the time and energy to make these little creative nuggets.

In keeping with this, we offer you some of the best memes we have found since the Super Bowl.
Enjoy!

SuperBowl 55 Preview

February 4, 2021 by nflinlondon

And then there was one game to define it all.
One final match for the 2020 season, before we all slug back to hibernate for another 7 months of no NFL.
It’s the Tampa Bay Bucs vs the Kansas City Chiefs, as we bring you our SuperBowl 55 Preview podcast.

Wade McElwain & Ryan Cull are ready for Sunday, as they break down all of the factors that will come into play for SuperBowl 55 in Tampa.
Who do they think will win the big game? You’ll have to read further.

The guys touch on all kinds of fun in this podcast, among some of the issues they discuss in detail includes:

TB12

Sure, he makes half the SuperBowls of his career, but is he really that good? Brady has thrown a bunch of INTs throughout the playoffs, and it’s hard not to think he won’t be tossing one away in this game. Where Brady shines is under pressure, and leading an underdog charge.
Tommy boy knows how to manage the clock and the big stage.

Mahomes

Patrick has surely accomplished a lot for a young man his age. He shows a certain poise and commands the pocket expertly as he moves down the field. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his issues however. If the Bucs put enough pressure on him, he might throw an errant pick down the field. Or he might find a seam and run for 40 yards on you. That’s why he’s so fun to watch.

Chiefs O-Line

You’re going to need to protect Patrick Mahomes from one of the fastest D’s in the league. The Bucs were able to get to him in week 12, and it should be eve easier if 3 of the starters are out.
Mahomes is a phenom anyway you slice it, but if you can get to him early and often, it will mean he has to take deep shots down the field.

RBs

Both of these teams will have all of their backs healthy and ready for the big game. With such a high powered passing attack on both sides, the running game could be overlooked. This would be a mistake, as both teams will want to ‘ground and pound’ to soften the defensive line up a bit.
Where this will get interesting is how often these RBs are used in play action and as receivers.

Gronk

Gronk is always on Tommy’s mind when it comes to the SuperBowl. In the previous Patriots games, Rob was a big factor finding open field and busting a few big gains and even a TD against the Rams.
Betting that Gronk gets a TD is a solid prop bet, and it may have something to do with TB12 helping his buddy’s get their post season bonuses.

Home Field

It may not feel like much, but home field does play a huge factor in Sundays outcome. Knowing every facet of a stadium, how the wind rolls in, where your family are sitting, and how close the toilet is, all help a player out mentally to calm down.

So with all of that in consideration, the guys have made this Super Bowl 55 predictions.

Ryan

Ryan likes the kid Mahomes in this one, as the Chiefs just have too many tools to be stopped. He likes both teams to hit the over here, but Kansas City will just be too much for the Bucs to handle.
Chiefs 31 Bucs 27

Wade

Wade is going with defence, home field advantage, and experience, which is why he likes Tampa Bay to win this at home. Defences win big games, and this will be the one where the better one steps up. The Chiefs might build a lead, but TB12 and co. will work to erase and overcome just like in Super Bowls of past.
Bucs 28 Chiefs 24

That’s it for the final prediction of this NFL 2020/21 season.
Huge thanks to the NFL for making it all feel ‘normal’ again. What are we going to do without you?
Thanks for listening, please share and we will continue to make more during the offseason.
