SuperBowl 55 Preview

February 4, 2021 by nflinlondon

And then there was one game to define it all.
One final match for the 2020 season, before we all slug back to hibernate for another 7 months of no NFL.
It’s the Tampa Bay Bucs vs the Kansas City Chiefs, as we bring you our SuperBowl 55 Preview podcast.

Wade McElwain & Ryan Cull are ready for Sunday, as they break down all of the factors that will come into play for SuperBowl 55 in Tampa.
Who do they think will win the big game? You’ll have to read further.

The guys touch on all kinds of fun in this podcast, among some of the issues they discuss in detail includes:

TB12

Sure, he makes half the SuperBowls of his career, but is he really that good? Brady has thrown a bunch of INTs throughout the playoffs, and it’s hard not to think he won’t be tossing one away in this game. Where Brady shines is under pressure, and leading an underdog charge.
Tommy boy knows how to manage the clock and the big stage.

Mahomes

Patrick has surely accomplished a lot for a young man his age. He shows a certain poise and commands the pocket expertly as he moves down the field. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his issues however. If the Bucs put enough pressure on him, he might throw an errant pick down the field. Or he might find a seam and run for 40 yards on you. That’s why he’s so fun to watch.

Chiefs O-Line

You’re going to need to protect Patrick Mahomes from one of the fastest D’s in the league. The Bucs were able to get to him in week 12, and it should be eve easier if 3 of the starters are out.
Mahomes is a phenom anyway you slice it, but if you can get to him early and often, it will mean he has to take deep shots down the field.

RBs

Both of these teams will have all of their backs healthy and ready for the big game. With such a high powered passing attack on both sides, the running game could be overlooked. This would be a mistake, as both teams will want to ‘ground and pound’ to soften the defensive line up a bit.
Where this will get interesting is how often these RBs are used in play action and as receivers.

Gronk

Gronk is always on Tommy’s mind when it comes to the SuperBowl. In the previous Patriots games, Rob was a big factor finding open field and busting a few big gains and even a TD against the Rams.
Betting that Gronk gets a TD is a solid prop bet, and it may have something to do with TB12 helping his buddy’s get their post season bonuses.

Home Field

It may not feel like much, but home field does play a huge factor in Sundays outcome. Knowing every facet of a stadium, how the wind rolls in, where your family are sitting, and how close the toilet is, all help a player out mentally to calm down.

So with all of that in consideration, the guys have made this Super Bowl 55 predictions.

Ryan

Ryan likes the kid Mahomes in this one, as the Chiefs just have too many tools to be stopped. He likes both teams to hit the over here, but Kansas City will just be too much for the Bucs to handle.
Chiefs 31 Bucs 27

Wade

Wade is going with defence, home field advantage, and experience, which is why he likes Tampa Bay to win this at home. Defences win big games, and this will be the one where the better one steps up. The Chiefs might build a lead, but TB12 and co. will work to erase and overcome just like in Super Bowls of past.
Bucs 28 Chiefs 24

That’s it for the final prediction of this NFL 2020/21 season.
Huge thanks to the NFL for making it all feel ‘normal’ again. What are we going to do without you?
Thanks for listening, please share and we will continue to make more during the offseason.

Ryan & Romo

January 14, 2021 by nflinlondon

It’s time for a little ‘throwback Thursday’ as we take a trip back to 2014 during one of the NFL in London games in a little video we call ‘Ryan & Romo.’

Tony Romo was not only a pretty good QB, but we know now that Tony is probably one of the best former player/ commentators in the game. Tony is so good, coaches actually get mad at him the next day for exposing their plays through his nonchalant style of examining play style.

In November 2014, NFL in London was invited by the NFLUK to attend one of the London training camps. (we miss these!). Tony Romo made the trip to London, but it was doubtful if he would play given he had been injured for 2 weeks prior. Coincidentally, the Cowboys had also lost 2 games in a row, so Jason Garrett was keen to get Romo back in for the London game.

Our guy Ryan Cull was determined to get Romo to laugh, and wanted to wait to ask the perfect question. After all, Wade had just got a big chuckle out of Jerry Jones, which led Jones on a strange dovetail story about Elizabeth Taylor (which was awesome).
As you can tell by the footage, both of them had a good time with the question.

Some of the players interviewed by our team have been absolute gems, while a few of them have left a permanent stain on our psyche’s.

As for the game, the Cowboys would go on to snap their two game losing streak and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-17 in an uneven affair on November 9, 2014.
Tony Romo did indeed play in this game, going 20/27 with 246 yards and 3 whopping TDs. Two of these TDs went to Dez Bryant, who also had one heck of a game. DeMarco Murray (remember him) also had a TD in this game.
83600 London fans had a great time at the game (and an even better time with us all afterwards).

We really miss hosting these parties for you guys, as well as getting together with players and fans alike to celebrate all of us in the UK who love this sport.
Hopefully, we will all be together again soon.

Do you have any footage or great interviews from you fave NFL in London moments? Get in touch and fell free to reach out and we can help share them. We’re always looking for writers as well so get in touch.

Romo’s Impressions

December 10, 2020 by nflinlondon

Who knew that Tony Romo was good at impressions? It’s time for Romo’s Impressions! Talk show mouth Jimmy Kimmel had Tony on this week, and asked him if he could do some impressions of famous QBs.
Now, obviously this is a party trick that Tony likes to roll out to impress the babes and buds in the room, but it’s actually pretty funny.

Everyone thinks that they can easily transition from athlete to sportscaster, but it is actually Tony Romo that has set the template for all others to follow.
Not only does he have a nice voice that bounces of the nasal whine of Jim Nantz, Tony actually knows stuff about football!

Please enjoy this video before ABC forces us to take the sucker down.

Haskin Robbins

March 7, 2020 by nflinlondon

What happens when you get ‘paid’? What kinds of things would you buy.
If you’re an NFL player who signs a ridiculous contract, pretty much anything you want.
Because the best budget comes from youth!
Just kidding, young people make horrible decisions.

In this video, Dwayne Haskins freaks down how he spent all of his money.
The biggest thing he wasted his cake on was a $250k Bentley.
Remember when Bentley’s were only driven by rich, old people?
Not anymore!
Seriously, paying cash for a car that price? That is just crazy!
Couldn’t you lease it? What about a Toyota? Or just really nice Ubers?

Someone needs to help these kids with their cash!

TNF-Chiefs vs Broncos

October 17, 2019 by nflinlondon

Ruh roh ‘Raggy, the Chiefs have lost 2 in a row, will they lose again?
Let’s jump in the Mystery Machine & figure out how this game is going to hurt the Chiefs.

The Chiefs have shown their weaknesses, & the heat they brought last year is now more of a simmer.
His ankle looks to be weak, and his O-line has been replaced to the point they don’t have the full ability to protect him.
Remember when he would juke, junk, and then left side toss a ball for a gain of 8?
That doesn’t happen anymore.
Austerity is here.

The Broncos are at home, which only matters because of the thin air, that is also packed with weed smoke.
(most of the crowd are on edibles)
But, the Broncos can defend at home, and their D looks much improved and focused, with Von Miller packing on the pressure.
Win this game, and the Broncos are in the hunt.
Lose it, and Denver might start looking to sell the parts.

Denver needs to run the ball.
The Chiefs have struggled here, and Phillip Lindsay should tear through the Chiefs D like a Japanese wall.

Denver has the aggression and home stance, and the Chiefs just lost at home 4 days earlier.
Will their new QB rally them to victory?
Probably not.
The Chiefs should take an early lead, but the second half will be all horsey.
Watch the Broncos tighten the D, switch more to the running game, and check down each drive to punts.

Chiefs might win, but the Broncos should cover.
