Week 5 Picks

October 7, 2023 by nflinlondon

Holy schmoly, another NFL London game with Jags and Bills plus our Week 5 Picks podcast?
Did Christmas come early?

With the NFL giving us another great game between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, the guys look at all the other games that are popping this weekend, with a full slate of top notch games following the 2:30 game.

To listen to the podcast, just have a click here, and let all your NFL picks get suitably questioned by the half-assed analysis of Ryan and Wade.

NFLinLondon · Week 5 Picks-268

London Game Notes

Hope everyone heading to the game has a great time, and the weather looks so good, global warming is okay for a weekend such as this.

There is no transit strike on for Sunday (hooray), so folks should have an easy-peasy journey to the game.

Arsenal is playing Manchester City at 4:30pm on Sunday, which means that north London is going to be a pickle to get around post game.
The match should finish after 6pm, so expect a double flush of fans looking to hit the rails post game.

Week 5 Picks

You’ll get most of the fun bag shenanigans on the podcast, but for the folks looking for a few hot tips as the turtle head rises from the steam-shute, we got you covered.

Here are a few of the games that the guys think might be some traction action.

-2 Titans (2-2) vs Colts (202) +43

This is a hot steaming pile of nothing game, that even the flies don’t want to be a part of, but one of these teams has to come to London next weekend.

The Titans have no O-line and the D secondary is giving up big yards, so how are they going to stop the Colts with a running QB?

The Colts too have a slew of injuries that beset both sides of the ball, but Jonathan Taylor is back? Is that good?

Both guys think that this is a stinker, but has some fantasy gold in the nuggets of dung.

Ryan likes the Titans to rise above the Indianapolis team at home, and Derek Henry a win.

Wade smells the rot on the glove, but likes the tandem of Richardson and Pittman to put up the points.

Ryan-Titans 24 Colts 21
Wade-Colts 20 Titans 18

Texans (2-2) vs -2 Falcons (2-2) +41.5

CJ Stroud and the Texans have been causing enough fire to justify a smokehouse BBQ session, as the D has also responded by keeping games tight with tough opponents.
Nothing to lose, but something to prove.

Atlanta is coming home after a sad sack loss to the Jags in London that made many of the players question why they even got a stupid passport in the first place
The Falcons and the Ridder scheme isn’t working, so how do they get off the run?

Ryan likes the Texans to win here, as his habit of betting on the Falcons in the past brought him nothing but trouble.

Wade is taking the Falcons at home only because the Texans aren’t very good against an inside run unit that can gash them for yards.

Ryan-Texans 21 Falcons 17
Wade-Falcons 23 Texans 19

That’s it for our Week 5 Picks podcast, make sure that you listen to the whole thing on all of the good audio channels aside from ours.

Hope everyone enjoys your Week 5 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Stadium, and please do make sure to send us photos of all the fun you’re having.

Week 2 Picks

September 16, 2023 by nflinlondon

Another one done and dusted, but it all starts up again, as the boys deliver their Week 2 Picks Podcast.

So many crazy storylines settling down from week 1!
Aaron Rodgers might never play again.
The Ravens are already injured up the wazoo!
And the Bengals lost badly.

What kind of picks do Ryan and Wade have lined up for their Week 1 Picks?
You can find out all about it, by clicking on the podcast right here.

Week 2 Picks

There are loads of intriguing games lined up for Week 2 in the NFL, but we’ve selected a few of the games that we think could have top betting value.
Why choose some loser games that no one wants to be on?
Here are some of the intriguing games that the boys look at for their Week 2 Picks.

-1 Packers (1-0) vs Falcons (1-0)  +40.5

Green Bay led a Week 1 smackdown of the stunned Bears, opening up a second half hole of 28 mistake points that allowed the Packers to easily dominate a Chicago team with horrible defence.
With a few key players missing, will Jordan Love and the Pack be able to lead another dominant performance.
The Falcons got the W, but there are still loads of questions around Ridder being able to spread the ball around. Bijan had a fantastic rookie performance in Week 1, but now he faces a stunt Green Bay D that shut down the Bears all day.
Ryan likes the Packers to continue their winning ways, with a strong performance over the Falcons. He’s not betting the birds again.
Wade likes the Falcons for the upset here, as he thinks that the offence of Atlanta has a few choice more weapons. Has nothing to do with the fact he’s a Bears fan.
Ryan-Packers 23 Falcons 17
Wade-Falcons 24 Packers 20

-1.5 Colts (0-1)  vs Texans (0-1)  +40

What a trash bag fest this game is, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t some points and cash to be made.
The Colts are lacking the running power of Jonathan Taylor, but had a nice surprising performance from Anthony Richardson, who ended up getting injured late in the game.
The Ravens were held in check by the Houston D, until Lamar does what he does and opened the game up. Still, there was a lot of promise in that game, when many thought they would get destroyed.
Ryan likes the Colts here to hold off Houston, and expects a bad game, and a sloppy win.
Wade thinks that it will be sweaty down in Texas, but that humidity will help them and their D throttle the Colts for the upset.
Ryan-Colts 21 Texans 17
Wade-Texans 18 Colts 14

Bears (0-1) vs -2.5 Bucs (1-0)  +42

The Chicago Bears were an absolute joke in Week 1, and it looked like they hadn’t even had a preseason with the lacklustre job put in by the squad.
The D was bad, Fields looked lost, there was no running game, and Chase Claypool can suck a duck.
Baker Mayfield and the pissed off Tampa wide receivers were able to channel their focus to slip apart the Vikings last week, to give them some motivation in the NFC South.
Still loads of questions across the team, but they showed dominant and integrated form to make the Vikings look stupid.
Ryan likes the Bucs and Baker to keep it winning on the strength of their D. Tampa Bay beat the stuffing out of Chicago last year, so what’s to say that they won’t do it again.
Wade is calling for a Bears upset here, believing that all signs point to an upset. Eberflus is back on D calling, and the Bucs just aren’t that good.
Ryan-Bucs 24 Bears 20
Wade-Bears 24 Bucs 20
Those are just some of our Week 2 picks, make sure that you listen to the whole podcast to get the full value of Wade and Ryan’s insight.
Remember the World Rugby Cup is on this weekend too, and all games on Sunday conflict with NFL.
In case you choose to go to a bar, and they don’t show it
Enjoy Week 2 everyone, thanks for listening.

AFC West Peek

August 28, 2023 by nflinlondon

The preseason is finally done, as the boys take a look at the AFC West Peek in a hot new podcast.

The Chiefs look to rule the roost for yet another year, with their eyes on repeating as Super Bowl champs, but does anyone in this division look to stop them?
Wade and Ryan discuss it all in the latest podcast, if you want to have a listen, just click right here!

NFLinLondon · AFC West Peek-Ep 256
Among some of the other stuff that the guys discuss in this episode.

Trey Lanced

Talk about a butt-fumble, as the San Francisco 49ers traded away their ‘precious’ Trey Lance, in a deal that makes them look like total schmucks.
After tossing out first round drafts like candy to acquire Lance, they leveraged part of their future, and gave Miami plenty of weapons in whimpering trade with the Cowboys to put Lance out to pasture.
San Fran has been in the playoffs since acquiring Trey, yet he had zero impact on the team, nor on their wins.
The fact that they moved heaven and earth to acquire the 3rd ranked Lance, to then just dump him off to Jerry must sting the young man quite a bit.
All he has to do know is wait for Dak to go down.

Jacobing

Josh Jacobs finally gets paid, as the Las Vegas Raiders finally shifted some cash in the cushions to pay the man to a 1 year deal for close to $12 million.
As running backs around the league look for leverage in a age of RB-Hate, Josh is able to return to the Vegas fold, and put up some of the only yards that Jimmy G’s arm can’t reach.
Too bad the Raiders O-line is going to make it difficult for Jimmy and Josh.

Rodgers That

Aaron Rodgers did the impossible, and played in a preseason game this week for the first time in years.
Head coach Saleh wanted to get Aaron used to playing in his new home, and he quickly declared that the Jets are ‘ready to go.’
Too bad commercial directors didn’t get Rodgers to ‘warm up’ for some of the horrible commercials he’s been in, which is why he was probably cut from being the State Farm spokesman.
Want that Rodgers rate? Your screwed now cheesehead.

Jimmy G

Jimmy Graham was arrested a few weeks ago for appearing to be intoxicated in public, which later was determined to be a medical episode for the Saints TE.
Many fans were surprised to hear that Jimmy STILL plays for the Saints, after they brought the 36 year-old back to New Orleans for one last time.
Thankfully Jimmy has recovered, and the Saints must be happy with an ESPN prediction that gives them a 60%+ chance of making the playoffs this year.
Likely?

AFC West Peek

Wade and Ryan are also back with another prediction of an AFC Division, this time they turn their gaze to the West.
Mahomes and Reid have been a powerful tandem in the West, and with another Super Bowl ring on their fat fingers, it seems likely that they will once again look to dominate the division.
But what about the other teams that are looking to slug their way to the playoffs?
The Raiders are going to struggle this season, with the often-injured Jimmy G sure to only make 50% of the games this season.
Add to that problems on both sides of the line, and Vegas could find themselves ‘tanking for Caleb’ as the season wears on.
Russell Wilson will need some new recipes this season if he wants to feed hungry Broncos fans.
Sean Payton is going to have to turn this ship around, but can Russ even cook anymore, or has the hunger strike hit home?
The Chargers of LA are hoping that their recent signing of QB stud Justin Herbert will finally put them on track to start making repeat playoff appearances.
There’s a lot of age on that team, and it will be curious if Herbert can rally them for one last ride.

Bear Down

July 24, 2023 by nflinlondon

We swapped out one Ryan for another, on this special Bear Down podcast!

Bear Down

Usually our podcast is bolstered by a Bills and a Bears fan, but with Ryan Cull still on vacay with the fam-jam, we’ve brought in our friend, and Bears fan Ryan Andrews on this one. It feels all NFC North!

To listen to the latest edition of the podcast, just click here and let your worries wash away in this engaging new edition.

Among some of the things Ryan and Wade talk about in this one includes:

Where the Bears

With two Bears fans on, the big elephant in the room needs to be addressed: ‘Are the Bears going to stay in Chicago proper?’

Ryan is from Illinois, so he has his own thoughts on Soldier Field, as well as the potential of moving the team up to Arlington Heights where they are looking for some state help in financing.

How long will it take to put this whole thing together anyhow?

Offseason Idiocy

As far as off-season arrests have been, this has been one of the quieter years than past. Have young NFL players stopped doing stupid things? Have mobile phones made it tougher to be clean in the offseason? Or are young players finally fearful of losing a career path?
Kinda, sorta.

Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison pulled a bonehead move this week, when he was caught speeding over 140 mph in a 50 zone. Not so bright. Luckily, no one was injured, but still a stupid move for someone trying to make a team impact this season. Hopefully the veterans in the locker room are relentless to Jordan.

Topping this stunt isn’t hard if you’re Jaguars player Chris Claybrooks, who has been arrested on domestic violence charges for the second time in four months.
It’s doubtful that Jacksonville will want to hang on to this liability with anger management issues.
Hopefully he can get the help he needs, but it won’t be in the NFL.

Comm and Go

Dan Synder is finally out, as the Washington Commanders sale has finally been approved to billionaire Josh Harris.
Most in the league are happy to see Snyder go, after tanking a venerable franchise through shadiness and a ‘hands on’ approach to coaching, despite having no training there.

For many fans, comes the real question. ‘are you going to change the team name again?’
While some harken for a return to the classic ‘Washington Football Team’, others are pushing for a name that addresses reparations (a buzzword in America these days).

However it goes, Washington still has a lot of rebuilding to do. With one of the worst stadiums in the NFL, declining numbers, and the lack of a real fan draw could see them fall back into a purgatory of trying to fight the NFC East, while battling themselves.

Giant Fail?

The NY Giants are currently dealing with the Saquon situation which is quickly spiralling out of control.

To mitigate the damage, and offer a little roster hope, the Giants signed Cole ‘anti-vax’ Beasley, and often cut running back James Robinson.
Robinson was the belle of the Jaguars ball only a few years ago, that has seen him slip and slide around the AFC East.
As for Beasley, he’s just there to slop up from the injuries.

Madden 24

Madden is back, so warm up you thumbs and prepare to get whooped online by some 10 year old in his basement.

Of course the big thing about Madden these days is ego, as players toss the toys from the pram as soon as they don’t secure that sweet 99 rating.

The new Madden has been released, and only a few are elite members of that 99 club. So congrats Patrick Mahomes, and Justin Jefferson, you deserve it.

We’ll also have more NFL fantasy news coming up in the next few weeks, so watch this space!

Barrel Scraping

July 5, 2023 by nflinlondon

July is the last month of ‘NO NFL’ until March 2024! All this and more silly news in our latest Barrel Scraping podcast from Wade and Ryan.

Slow News

It’s July, so we’re all hoping for any little nugget of NFL news, from trades, moves to arrests, and even more off-season arrests. More on that later.

We’re always trying to put together a little feast of a podcast for you every episode, and since this is episode 250 of our NFL in London podcast, we tried not to disappoint here.

Here’s a link to the podcast so that you can listen in yourselves.

NFLinLondon · Barrel Scraping-Ep 250
Among some of the other news that the guys talk about in this podcast includes:

USFL Finale

Did anyone watch the thrilling finale of the USFL this year? Us neither.
But it did turn into a big thrill for the Birmingham Stallions, who notched up back-to-back championships in their trophy hoist.
Given the amount of teams in the USFL (8), it’s not that hard to repeat as you would think.
Congrats to QB Alex McGough, who will once again find himself in the gauntlet of NFL tryouts before returning to the USFL next season.

The Match

‘The Match’ is a US tv series in which pro athletes  & celebs battle each other in a novelty golf-off.
Usually it features some big veterans or top talkers, but this year we got Kelce, Mahomes, and a couple of NBA jerks.
Not as thrilling in this 12 hole round, but at least it featured some modicum of NFL, so always worth watching if not just for Patrick’s Kermit like peeping throughout.

Swimming with Chiefs

Brittney Mahomes was also in hot water this week, after she posted pictures of herself on Insta swimming with dolphins in the tropics.
Animal lovers know that captive dolphins are a touchy issue, especially for someone who needs to display a bit of social foresight.
Worst of all were the rumours that Jackson Mahomes sexually assaulted the dolphin later.

Super Soaker

The Super Bowl still has some lingering blame as to the field conditions, and the NFL is finally ready to pass judgment.
It was the Eagles fault, they should have changed shoes.
While we can all remember how wet and wild the conditions were, with the Philly D struggling to gain traction on the soggy turf. But should they have changed shoes?
It’s all he said, they said at this point.
You lost.

ESPN on Fire

Sorry, they have been firing. Loads of top talent at the House of Mouse are gone, which won’t mean much for UK NFL fans who rarely see these pundits. For US viewers it’s signs of the times that they are moving on from pricey veterans, and throwing cash at new talent, as well as Pat McAfee.
Maybe he can finally afford to buy a shirt.

Jonesy

Jerry Jones is also dipping his story into the media, after reportedly seeking upwards of $50 million for the rights to his video life story.
Word on the media streets is that Netflix has snapped it up, and will look to rebound from all the horrible woke shows they invested in, and get back to the most watched program on the planet.
Even if it is Jerry Jones.
Think how much the Tom Brady story would get.

Kap’r

Colin Kaepernick wants to let us all know that he is still ready to get that NFL call, at the ripe young age of 35. Despite not playing in a decade, and living more off the meme’s of life, Colin is ready to give it another shot.
How about we team him up with Antonio Brown and make a new reality series? ‘AB & KP on the Road’. We’d all watch it.
Good news for Colin ahead is that he will be the ‘face’ of a new 7 on 7  NFL game coming to most devices this fall. He can finally play again, if only in a Meta way.

London Games

We will have more news on our London game party tickets as well soon.
Watch this space.
We will also be looking for people to join a Fantasy League this year with us! Get in touch if you want to play.
