Holy schmoly, another NFL London game with Jags and Bills plus our Week 5 Picks podcast?
Did Christmas come early?

With the NFL giving us another great game between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, the guys look at all the other games that are popping this weekend, with a full slate of top notch games following the 2:30 game.

London Game Notes

Hope everyone heading to the game has a great time, and the weather looks so good, global warming is okay for a weekend such as this.

There is no transit strike on for Sunday (hooray), so folks should have an easy-peasy journey to the game.

Arsenal is playing Manchester City at 4:30pm on Sunday, which means that north London is going to be a pickle to get around post game.
The match should finish after 6pm, so expect a double flush of fans looking to hit the rails post game.

Week 5 Picks

You’ll get most of the fun bag shenanigans on the podcast, but for the folks looking for a few hot tips as the turtle head rises from the steam-shute, we got you covered.

Here are a few of the games that the guys think might be some traction action.

-2 Titans (2-2) vs Colts (202) +43

This is a hot steaming pile of nothing game, that even the flies don’t want to be a part of, but one of these teams has to come to London next weekend.

The Titans have no O-line and the D secondary is giving up big yards, so how are they going to stop the Colts with a running QB?

The Colts too have a slew of injuries that beset both sides of the ball, but Jonathan Taylor is back? Is that good?

Both guys think that this is a stinker, but has some fantasy gold in the nuggets of dung.

Ryan likes the Titans to rise above the Indianapolis team at home, and Derek Henry a win.

Wade smells the rot on the glove, but likes the tandem of Richardson and Pittman to put up the points.

Texans (2-2) vs -2 Falcons (2-2) +41.5

CJ Stroud and the Texans have been causing enough fire to justify a smokehouse BBQ session, as the D has also responded by keeping games tight with tough opponents.
Nothing to lose, but something to prove.

Atlanta is coming home after a sad sack loss to the Jags in London that made many of the players question why they even got a stupid passport in the first place
The Falcons and the Ridder scheme isn’t working, so how do they get off the run?

Ryan likes the Texans to win here, as his habit of betting on the Falcons in the past brought him nothing but trouble.

Wade is taking the Falcons at home only because the Texans aren’t very good against an inside run unit that can gash them for yards.

Week 4 Picks

Welcome to London NFL fans, as we discuss the Falcons Jaguars game in our Week 4 Picks podcast.

Wade and Ryan are excited to see the first NFL game of the European leg, and as the Ryder Cup has show us so far that Europe has its own winning ways.

A train and tube strike is threatening to chunk away a good selection of fans for this game sadly, so hopefully many of these late tickets will get scooped up.
All in all, it looks to be another consistent NFL London game, with low scoring and wide jersey dispersion.
The amazing UK fans more than make up for it all, and it will truly be a fun experience.

Falcons (2-1) vs -3 Jaguars (1-2)  +43

It’s the first of the 2023 London NFL games as the Atlanta Falcons visit the home town Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley stadium.
Despite the fact that London has no signs that the NFL is in town, apparently this game is still going ahead.
Atlanta has looked limp in their run only offence, with Desmond Ridder either not living up to his potential, or not having as much as everyone thought.
Jacksonville has a had a struggling start to the season, no thanks to their offensive line which has seen Trevor Lawrence harassed more than he’s ever been.
Ryan thinks that this game will be another London stinker, with low points and even lower intensity.
Wade is also calling for a terribly low scoring game, as teams historically take time to adjust to being in the GMT.

Dolphins (3-0) vs -2.5 Bills (2-1)  +53.5

Miami shocked the shakes out of the league last week by pounding the poor Broncos with 70 points, as they continue to load up on points. But they still haven’t face a really tough D up to this point.
Buffalo are favoured by 2.5 points against Miami? Many fans think this is an insult, given the Bills struggling in their first 2 games.
Ryan is big on his Bills, and likes the boys in Western New York to choke out the Dolphins with their fast front D.
Wade agrees with Ryan, and thinks that Miami will get a touch welcome from the Bills, who will finally give Tua that threat to his MMA training.

Rams (1-2) vs -1 Colts (2-1)  +46.5

Los Angeles Rams took a tough loss to the Bengals in week 3, losing a few more defensive players in the process. Matt Stafford is playing with renewed confidence, thanks to some speedy new receivers who have stepped up.
The Colts are 2-1 with our Jonathan Taylor, and Matt Ryan. The last name isn’t as surprising, but the play of Anthony Richardson is. Back from injury, Richardson could thrive in fantasy points against an LA  team playing with only 4 days rest.
Ryan likes the Rams to take out the Colts here, with Matt Stafford finding some holes in this Indianapolis home team.
Wade likes Richardson to use his legs and find Pittman for a few scores, as he likes the Colts to dominate the poor, tired Rams.

Wembley NFL Sunday

If you’re headed to the Jaguars vs Falcons, we have some tips for your Wembley NFL Sunday!

A few tips ahead of the game on Sunday:

  • forecast is sunny and 22c (75f)
  • rail strikes on the weekend will effect travel to the stadium
  • Wembley isn’t really a London ‘destination’ before and after the game-that doesn’t mean it’s dead!

Getting There

Wembley stadium is in the northwest of the city, and is well served by tube, car, taxi and helicopter if you fancy it.

If you’re coming from London, just head north on either the Jubilee (grey) or Metropolitan Lines (burgundy) to Wembley Park station.
There is also a train that goes from Marylebone station, but it might be a little delayed with the hangovers from the Saturday strikes.
Be prepared for reduced services, even though technically all lines are open on Sunday.

Uber or Bolt is also a good option to the stadium, and if you can locate a sneaky side street, you can also get picked up there for a quick scoot away from Wembley and away from the crowds.

Leaving the stadium beware! The queue to Wembley Park station can get HUGE after the game, and you could expect to be in line for over 30 minutes. Also don’t touch the police horses, they don’t like that.

Either have an exit strategy, or find a nice little pub to wait it out before or after the game.

Pubs

Wembley has changed since the original NFL days, when the only place to party before the game was an Indian buffet restaurant, or a Curry’s parking lot.

Now there are loads of bland chain restaurants to fill the student filled condos, these are adequate to wait it out for over priced drinks and to meet friends.

Here are a list of pubs to consider before and after the game if you’re looking to carry on with your NFL party.

The Green Man

The ‘go to’ pub for most NFL fans, this iconic pub on the hill is spacious, ruckus and boasts a website from the 90s’.

The Green Man also shows Sky Sports, so you can pop in after the game and catch some of the 6pm action.

It gets very busy, so if you’re planning to go, go early. It will be the home location for the Falcons fans, so make sure you check where the Jags going unless you want to smell like beer.

Station 31

How about an Indian restaurant with a whole bunch of TVs that show Sky Sports?

Then head on down to Section 31, not too far from the stadium and a warm and vibrant location to hit after the game.

If you have a big group, make sure to book ahead so that you can get great viewing seats.

Corner House

This small Irish pub near the stadium is a prime choice for many fans who want a pint of real ale, some crisps and sports on the telly.

If you need a friendly little local joint to warm you up, or to have a pint and a piss, this will do you proud.

Stadium Sports Bar

Does what it says on the tin, the Stadium Sports Bar is located in the heart of it all, and is easy to spot with its big red sign.

Cold beer, warm food, and an easy walk to and from the stadium. What else can you ask for?

The bar has enough TVs with Sky Sports to give you your NFL fix before and after the game, so it’s worth having a look, or make a booking so that you have a table for after the game.

The Wembley Tavern

Just down the road from the stadium is The Wembley Tavern, a cool local sports bar with its own big personality.

The Tavern has plenty of TVs, great food from their own kitchen, and best of all, it’s open until 1am on Sundays.

After Game-Enfield is our look at what to do in the neighbouring Enfield, just a scoot from the game. Those of you attending the London games might be wondering, what’s going on once my game is finished at 6pm?
Well, we have some options for you in this post, as we look at things to do around Enfield.
Wait, where?

Location

A little north-west of the stadium sits the community of Enfield, an up and coming little nugget of party on the tip of London.

Conveniently located about 15 minutes from Tottenham stadium, the town of Enfield has a thriving nightlife and sports bars for anyone who is looking to head on the town after one of the Sunday contests.

Here are a few places to look at to watch the games afterwards.
And don’t worry, they are all VERY close to the stadium, even quicker in a taxi.

O’Neills Enfield

You can always trust an O’Neills to deliver standard quality across all of its locations.
The Enfield location is popular with youngsters in the area, and boasts loads of TV showing sport on Sundays.

The Cricketers

The Cricketers is another Enfield Sports bar that will have NFL showing on Sky Sports after the game.

The Taps Bar

Another sports bar showing NFL on Sunday is The Taps Irish Bar in Enfield that is centrally located, and bound to have a fun, lively atmosphere.

There are also plenty of kebab shops and a McD’s a football’s throw away, meaning you can soak up the sadness if your team losses on a Sunday.

The Three Wishes-Winchmore Hill

A gem of an Irish pub located on Green Lanes in Winchmore Hill, this recently renovated pub has over 15 TVs with Sky Sports and more.

Sundays are traditional Irish ones with live music during the afternoon, and some of the cheapest pints in North London.

The Stag

Looking for a late night bar AND a hotel, then check out the Stag in Enfield.

This cosy hotel also has a sought after bar, and garden which host live music, quiz and sport.

The Salisbury Arms-Winchmore Hill

Located near Winchmore Hill train station is the massive Salisbury Arms, which boasts a patio that holds over 200 and has plenty of TVs for outdoor sports action.

Sunday roasts and Sky Sports are on tap at this traditional British pub, which has just been renovated, and has loads of TVs to catch the games and RedZone on.

The Wonder

A bit outside Enfield proper, this is more of a country pub that has plenty of space and TVs to catch the games.

A traditional Sunday pub, The Wonder is a lively place for locals to meet, and centrally located enough for any groups looking to meet up prior to or after the game.

Other areas

Other neighbourhoods close to Enfield and Tottenham Stadium in the area that you might want to consider are Winchmore Hill, Palmers Green, and Wood Green.

Finsbury Park is also a more lively area for night life, and some sports bars, as well as being conveniently located on the Victoria and Piccadilly Lines, making transit to the stadium quite easy by bus.

Always good to call ahead to some of these pubs too if you have a large group.
Given that it isn’t central London, many of these pub landlords will be happy to throw on the games for you in a prime spot.
It will also help them prepare for staff, if 200 of you decide to descend  on them for a night of NFL fun!

Week 2 Picks

There are loads of intriguing games lined up for Week 2 in the NFL, but we’ve selected a few of the games that we think could have top betting value.
Why choose some loser games that no one wants to be on?
Here are some of the intriguing games that the boys look at for their Week 2 Picks.

-1 Packers (1-0) vs Falcons (1-0)  +40.5

Green Bay led a Week 1 smackdown of the stunned Bears, opening up a second half hole of 28 mistake points that allowed the Packers to easily dominate a Chicago team with horrible defence.
With a few key players missing, will Jordan Love and the Pack be able to lead another dominant performance.
The Falcons got the W, but there are still loads of questions around Ridder being able to spread the ball around. Bijan had a fantastic rookie performance in Week 1, but now he faces a stunt Green Bay D that shut down the Bears all day.
Ryan likes the Packers to continue their winning ways, with a strong performance over the Falcons. He’s not betting the birds again.
Wade likes the Falcons for the upset here, as he thinks that the offence of Atlanta has a few choice more weapons. Has nothing to do with the fact he’s a Bears fan.

-1.5 Colts (0-1)  vs Texans (0-1)  +40

What a trash bag fest this game is, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t some points and cash to be made.
The Colts are lacking the running power of Jonathan Taylor, but had a nice surprising performance from Anthony Richardson, who ended up getting injured late in the game.
The Ravens were held in check by the Houston D, until Lamar does what he does and opened the game up. Still, there was a lot of promise in that game, when many thought they would get destroyed.
Ryan likes the Colts here to hold off Houston, and expects a bad game, and a sloppy win.
Wade thinks that it will be sweaty down in Texas, but that humidity will help them and their D throttle the Colts for the upset.

Bears (0-1) vs -2.5 Bucs (1-0)  +42

The Chicago Bears were an absolute joke in Week 1, and it looked like they hadn’t even had a preseason with the lacklustre job put in by the squad.
The D was bad, Fields looked lost, there was no running game, and Chase Claypool can suck a duck.
Baker Mayfield and the pissed off Tampa wide receivers were able to channel their focus to slip apart the Vikings last week, to give them some motivation in the NFC South.
Still loads of questions across the team, but they showed dominant and integrated form to make the Vikings look stupid.
Ryan likes the Bucs and Baker to keep it winning on the strength of their D. Tampa Bay beat the stuffing out of Chicago last year, so what’s to say that they won’t do it again.
Wade is calling for a Bears upset here, believing that all signs point to an upset. Eberflus is back on D calling, and the Bucs just aren’t that good.
