2022 Broncos Wembley

Decision Appeal

August 7, 2022 by nflinlondon

It’s August NFL fans! Which means that it’s okay to start talking about football all day every day!

Wade & Ryan are back at the mike, and ready to dose out a healthy heaping of NFL banter, in this Decision Appeal podcast.

NFLinLondon · Decision Appeal-Ep 203

With the regular season only a month away, there are plenty of things to discuss in this episode, including:

Watson Appeal

Not even Gomer Pyle would be ‘surprised, surprised’ to find out that Roger Goodell and the league would appeal the 6 game suspension doled out to Deshaun last week.

Players and fans took to social media to compare the unfair punishment levied on Watson, and how other NFL players fared for weed, abuse, and drunk driving.

Whatever the result, this DW sitch ain’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Whether Watson plays, is suspended, or is dragged into the streets and beaten with a switch-fans just want to watch football.

Save the drama for another channel.

Breaking Brady

Miami was also hit by the long arm of the NFL, as it smacked the Dolphins for decades of douchery when it comes to their hiring practices.

From secretly approaching Tommy Boy and Sean Payton, (but not throwing games)-the Dolphins lose Draft picks over the next two years.

Fortunately for Miami, two years is too far for Tua to throw.

Broken Brady

Bad news for the Bucs, as TB12 has already started to leak weapons before the season has even started.

Centre Ryan Jensen is out for the season, and Bucs beast Tristan Wirfs has also experienced injuries to kick off training camp.

Like last season, there will be a lot of ‘bondo’ players brought in to patch up the holes for attrition.

The real question is, which teams injuries will take them out of the post season before they even have a chance to qualify?

Deebo

Deebo Samuel can finally relax, after having been paid by the 49ers for his ridiculous efforts at multiple roles last season.

Fantasy owners were equally pumped and fearful each week, as DS became the heart of your team, but could also leave you in ruins if he got smoke out.

Deebo will take home $71.55m over 3 years, with $58.1m guaranteed. Even better are the bonuses he will make for getting over 380 rushing yards ($650k), 3 rushing TDs ($150k).

Deebo should be able to do all that by week 3!

Bucking Broncos

Bad news for the Broncos, as they have already lost speedster Tim Patrick and RB Danarea Crockett for the season to ACL tears.

Patrick was a surprising uptick in the second half of fantasy last year, given plenty of points to players whose teams were riddled by injuries.

It would have been nice to see Russ cook with Patrick, but as it seems now, he’ll have to stay on the warming tray on the sidelines until 2023.

Fantasy Party

Have you hosted your NFL fantasy party already? Are you insane?

We have already seen plenty of keeners on social media, putting up pics of their ‘epic’ NFL Fantasy Draft.

Dudes, it’s August. There’s plenty of shit show to come, and you risk have a totally ruinous league by drafting too early.

Injuries, firings, more injuries, and depth rosters still have to be adjusted, not to mention that the preseason hasn’t even been played yet.

You could draft a whole team in August, only to find out that most of your squad was either hurt, benched or traded before the opening kickoff.

It’s good that you’re a keener, just be careful that your gusto doesn’t get you going too quickly.

Fantasy Pools

Are you interested in joining Fantasy Pools this year?

We’re looking at hosting a Weekly Pick’Em, and a Survivor Pool this year for our fans.

Would you be interested?

We will roll out more news on this in the next few weeks, so watch this space!

August Headlines

August 2, 2022 by nflinlondon

It’s official, there will be NFL games played this month.
Sure, they will be preseason, but football is back baby!

It wouldn’t be an off-season, without a bit of drama-and boy did the 2022 soft months provide a lot of entertainment!

Let’s take a look at some of the big news in our August Headlines!

Deshaun

The league has finally laid down it’s iron-fist ruling in the NFL vs Deshaun Watson, and the league has ruled…6 games!

Six? Only six Why not more? What not less? What about Calvin Ridley? What if he blew pot smoke in their faces instead? Would be get a season?

The judge ruled that Watson wasn’t violent, but did still must miss 6 games in penance for his groping actions.

It’s been a long road for Watson, the League, fans and of course all of the women who have made the accusations.
Let’s not forget it all started with Watson demanding a trade from the Texans, and the owner and many fans reminding Deshaun not to ‘mess with Texas’.

You wrestle the bull, you get the horns.

No one will be happy with this outcome because it’s been such a stain over the past year.

Hopefully we can all get on with some football, and the Browns can get back doing what they do best…disappoint their fans.

London Tickets

Tickets for the London games went on sale and flew off the digital shelves.

Did you get tickets, or were you beaten to the punch by digital ticket touts?

While we have heard some truly horrific ticketing stories, experience teaches us it all works out in the end.

With a few months to go until the London games, there will likely be more tickets released, as well as circumstances in which fans can’t make it, making their tickets available.

Be patient, watch the Facebook pages and fan groups, and don’t buy from scalpers. You will definitely be sad if you do.

Fantasy 2022

It’s time for another NFL Fantasy season, which means it’s time to start doing your research.

Some fans like to do their NFL Fantasy Draft now, which makes you quite the silly sausage.

Sure, it’s exciting to be able to start making up your line-ups, but preseason hasn’t even begin yet!
There is still plenty of time for injuries, insight and idiocy to see players burn and turn themselves out of the season before it even begins.

Be patient young grasshopper, the season is long.

Buc’ing Knee

Sad news for the TB Bucs, as starting centre for Ryan Jensen blew out his knee in epic preseason form, making Tommy B vulnerable to start the 2022 season.

As mentioned above (preseason injuries) can wreck havoc on a lockeroom, as the guys you thought would be your pillars, are instead relegated to the bench.

Robert Hainsey will try to jump into the role despite only being in his second year.

Will the Bucs be using bondo and duct tape to make a 2023 playoff run?

It’s starting to look that way.

Pay Deebo

Despite being used in a utility role by the 49ers last season, Deebo wasn’t paid for his jack of all trades-ness.

After complaining to San Fran that he wanted to get paid, and not crippled-they 49ers threw a load of cash at Deebo in a 3 year deal with $58 mil guaranteed and up to $73m in specialness.

Injuries forced San Fran to use Deebo in a more ‘help us’ role last season as the team got snaked by injuries, will they be looking to use him in this capacity this year?

Not if they want to keep him alive.

There’s lots of cash being thrown around the league at speedsters teams hope will lead their teams. Is Deebo going to be too much cash to splash?

Boz Man

Chris Boswell put it through the uprights this week, inking a massive 4 year, $20.5m deal that will see him guaranteed $12.5m, and tying him with Justin Tucker as the highest paid kicker in the NFL.

It’s a far cry from 2015, when Boswell had already been cut by the Steelers three times, and was slotted as fourth on Pittsburgh’s kicking roster.

The 31 year old Boswell has ‘no pressure’ on him this year.

Would you rather have Boswell or Tucker on your fantasy team?
Exactly.

Watch this space, as we will have some NFL Fantasy news for you to make your season fun!

London Tickets

July 27, 2022 by nflinlondon

Tickets for the 2022 London NFL games are on sale and flying off the digital shelves, did you get any London tickets?
No, huh?

First off, we want to assure our dear readers that we have nothing to do with the NFL London tickets, games, or general sadness that you feel when you realise you might not go to the games this year.
We throw NFL events, viewing parties, betting pools, and in general-oodles of fun for all NFL fans in the UK.
We have nothing to do with the league…
Please don’t get mad at us…

That being said, it seems that frustration was the word of the day for NFL fans in the UK, as thousands of fans took to social media to express their outrage at not being able to secure tickets.

You only have to pop onto social media to see the vented anger in play, as it emerged that despite being told there would be no queue until 9:30am, that many were already told that there were 170,000 people ahead of them in line for tickets.
Eeks.

Ticketmaster

Often touted as the ‘devil of tickets’, Ticketmaster once again was the target of wrath for many NFL UK fans looking to secure tickets.

With the moral turpitude of Jeffrey Epstein, Ticketmaster has long drawn ire from sports fans who tire of the constant BS from a company often with its head up its own ass of incompetence.

Ticketmaster had also assured fans that tickets would not be appearing on secondary and tertiary ticket sites, only for those very tickets to pop up throughout the afternoon on various nefarious ticketing sites.

Will I Get Tickets?

As the old expression goes, ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’, pointing to the fact that if you really want to go to the games this year, you will!
(The power of positive thinking!)

The NFLUK has been running these games for a few decades now, and given how well they have gone-there’s a great confidence that they will continue to pull them off.
So why worry?

Having witnessed ticket frenzy for the past 20 years, there are plenty of ways to secure tickets over the next few months if you use the right channels.
Keep an eye on social media, follow the fan groups for all of the teams that are visiting, and keep checking this site.

There is a Facebook Group that focuses on NFL tickets for the 2022 games, and is well vetted to eliminate scalpers and salty ticket touts.
You can find it here.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/nflfansukbuyandsell

As far as getting tickets, we will let you know as we do.

Travel Hell

Making things worse for the NFL games in the UK for 2022 is the ripe-ass travel hell that seems to be slapping its way across the world.

Cancelled flights, lost baggage, a war in Eastern Europe, and monkeypox are all adding to the eye-watering shit show that has been the past 18 months.

Just remember that none of that crap matters, this is the NFL we’re talking about!
Think ahead to get ahead!

Book your tickets now, and plan on just bringing a carry on with you to the UK.

Unlike US ‘Goodwill’ stores, our charity shops have great clothes, at great prices, and doesn’t fuel a corrupt organisation where the CEO makes more than the president of the country.

Once you’re in the UK just find a local Wetherspoons to be your home for a fortnight, it’s open early and you can start drinking at 7am.

It Will be Fine

Yes, things seem dire and daft now, but wait a few months to let the air clear.

More tickets will go on sale, people will need to sell their tickets, and it’s always on TV.
Don’t freak out just yet, the games aren’t until October.

We will also be throwing some great events around the games, so watch this space for more info!

Half Bakered

July 8, 2022 by nflinlondon

We’re into the first week of July, which means the preseason is only weeks away as we get set to kick of the 2022 NFL season.

With all the hoopla and huzzah, Wade and Ryan take some time in this podcast to look at some of the lingering NFL news prior to the start of the season, with this Half Bakered Podcast.

Here’s the link to get your weekend sorted.

NFLinLondon · Half Bakered-Ep 201

Among some of the things the guys talk about in this episode includes:

Baker Boy

Baker Mayfield is officially a Carolina Panther. Or is he?
Further to a medical test, BM could be shooting his load down the coast this season to help the woeful Panthers move on from Darnold Time.

With all the drama coming out of Cleveland, it’s nice to see some sort of finality come to the situation for Mayfield, who has been trending dirty water in the wake of the Deshaun Watson trade.

Whether Watson plays this season is up to the football Gods (or Goodell)-but the way it’s looking, he’ll be riding the pine, while Baker has a chance to start and finish the season.

It could be the Jacoby Brissett show now in Cleveland, as Baker can finally go off to his own pizza oven and get baked.

Jimmy G

Now that Baker has finally found his new forever home, the lens of focus hits over to Jimmy Garoppolo and his perfect jaw.

With Baker shuffling off to Carolina, the only real places to fall for Jimmy G are the Seahawks, and the Seahawks.

Given the divisional double tap, it’s highly unlikely that San Fran would want to allow him to come back and torch them twice.

Jimmy might be best to wait until week 4, when many of the teams will have already lost their starting QB to injury  or jail.

That’s Jimmy’s perfect sweet spot-sliding into the DMs.

Nice Tat Bro

A few weeks have gone by without anyone mentioning Aaron Rodgers, so he did something about that…he got a tattoo!

True to Rodgers form, the tat is cryptic, mysterious, and way to expensive for regular chums like us to afford.

Aaron went all witchy with this one, incorporating lions, the all seeing eye, and only black and white bro.

If only the tattoo could run a 4 second 40, then it might have a chance to really impress the fans this season.

Bear Up and Down

The rumours are swirling that the Chicago Bears are teasing the city that they are indeed ready to pack up and move for 2026.

With a big ass facility in Arlington Heights, the Bears could benefit from creating a whole new world around the team, adding shopping, hotels, bars and a home for Aaron Rodgers to own the team.

The city of Chicago came back this week with a plan-put a dome on it!

Mayor Lori is proposing taking the NFL’s smallest stadium (61,500) and raise the roof, adding a dome and another 15000 seats.

Sure it would take away from being an outdoor stadium in one of the coldest NFL cities, and erase the gorgeous views of Lake Michigan…but Soldier Field!

The Bears have the city over a barrel right now…finally someone they can dominate!

Lion Bite

Who has the most expensive NFL offence heading into this season?
Nope-not them.
It’s the Detroit Lions. Wait, what?

Yep, the Detroit Lions have the highest pad roster this season, with a whopping $123m in salaries spread across the Goff.

Ranked by CBS sports as the ‘5th worst team in the NFL’, the Lions are ready to change their fate in 2023, by not becoming the worst team in the league (again).

No matter how much money they spend, they will never be the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And that’s a good thing.

London Games

We will be announcing some parties and social fun stuff planned for the next season in the next month.

If you’re a bar or pub in the UK looking to hist NFL parties and viewing events this season, make sure that you get in touch.

July News

July 2, 2022 by nflinlondon

Well NFL fans, this is the last month until March 2023 that we will have ZERO NFL action. That means the NFL is only a few weeks away!
Getting excited yet?

To kick off all that is July, we offer up some til bits of NFL-July news to get you through the weekend.

Among some of the things we are paying attention to this week.

London Games

Tickets have already gone on sale for the London games, and given the frustration we have seen and heard online, most of the tickets seemed to have already been scooped up.

The Tottenham games have gone fast, nit not to worry-there always seem to be a stream of tickets that come out and become available to fans who are regular season ticket holders.

New season ticket holders got a chance to snag tickets on June 30th, while anyone looking to grab single tickets for Tottenham stadium will have to wait until Tuesday July 26th.

We will let you know about tickets as we hear about them, and remember to not buy tickets from scalpers, or you could be in for a nightmare.

Deshaun Deshaun

The drama in Ohio continues to thunder on, as the wet spots of Watson’s legacy continue to seep through onto the massage table.

With more accusations (and dismissals) the headaches for the Browns should be over soon-as it looks like the NFL is targeting Watson to miss the whole season.

This could be a real pain in the butt for the Browns, who have pissed off Baker Mayfield to an almighty ‘Karen’ status.

Remember a few years ago when Cleveland was touted as one of the top faves in the AFC? Oh how the mighty have been rubbed and tugged down.

Bonilla Bonanza

All NFL players (& other athletes) must love July 1st-aka Bobby Bonilla Day.

If you’re not aware, MLB player Bobby Bonilla and his savvy agent signed a deal to pay off the $5.9 million owed to Bonilla in instalments tagged with interest.
The NY Mets had wanted him to retire, but he said ‘no dice-pay me bitches.’

Despite only owing Bobby close to $6 million, the Mets have now paid Bonilla $14.3m, with another $15.5m owed over 15 more years.

In the end Bonilla will rake in close to $30m since 2000.

Happy July indeed!

Big T

Sad news from the world of the NFL, as former Colts & Ravens player Tony Siragusa aka ‘The Goose’ died at the age of 55.

Siragusa was not only a big personality on the field, but off as well-participating in many NFL sideline antics for TV, as well as hosting some notable TV series as well.

Big T also ‘made it’, when he appeared as Frank Cortese on the HBO series ‘The Sopranos.’

Jaylon

More sad news from Baltimore, as another Raven is to be seen nevermore.

Ravens OLB Jaylon Ferguson died of an accidental drug overdose.

‘Sack Daddy’ as he was known in college fell victim to the scary, and increasingly tragic fentanyl/cocaine overdose.

Experts are warning for a onslaught on fentanyl deaths in the future, as most cocaine on the west coast of America is thought to contain some traces of the drug.

Sadly, these kind of horrific deaths are going to become more popular with the inclusion of this drug in the mix.

Ferguson was only 26 ,and leaves behind 3 kids.

Cube It

Rapper/ Actor/ Advocate-Ice Cube is partnering with the NFL to promote and develop more initiatives for the NFL to invest in black owned businesses across America.

NFL VP of Operations head Troy Vincent has been working with the Cube to help invest NFL funding into local and national business of colour that could use a step up.

About damn time.

Make sure that you watch this space for all the NFL in London news, plus some great new betting options to hit later this year!
