2020 London NFL

Week 11 Picks

November 21, 2021 by nflinlondon

It’s tips ahoy NFL fans, as Wade and Ryan make their picks for Sunday.

In our Week 11 Picks, the guys try to help you find some betting value in your Sunday Funday of action.

While we don’t have any betting partners here in the UK, we do recommend you look around at some of the betting sites and offers.
Many UK betting sites aren’t very NFL savvy, so you will have to dumb down your knowledge to use them.

Clapham

What are you doing Sunday? Need a place to watch the games? Then pop into the Sports Bar and Grill Clapham, right on the high street and near the Clapham Junction station.

The SB&G-C (as we like to shorten it to) has all the NFL games you need, plus Redzone, cold beer and even hotter wings.

Book a table to avoid missing out on a table with your own TV!

Ryan’s Picks

Like a true junkie, Ryan is still coming down from his Falcons fix a few weeks ago. He’s been clean over a week now, and Thursday’s beat down by the Patriots D settled his favour on them.

This week, Ryan is big on Baltimore -5 to beat down the Bears. Despite Lamar maybe not playing, he likes the overall game of the Ravens to squish down the Bears at home.

He likes the Vikes +1 to give the Packers a home stun, taking a victory over their NFC opponents. Is this the time that the tools of Minnesota shines?

Russell Wilson & the Seahawks +2.5 should be cooking Sunday according to Ryan’s pick, as he likes them to fight off the feisty Cardinals in a drizzly home cover.

Lastly Ryan is puffy on Big Ben and the Steelers +6 to gouge out a tight match against the Chargers, keeping them within the -6 spread.

If you want Ryan’s picks, take Ravens, Vikings, Seahawks, & Steelers. A £10 wager will win you £151.20.

Wade’s Picks

Bears +5 are fighting the Ravens this Sunday at Soldier Field, but Wade is full on Beatdown mode for this one, despite losing Khalil Mack.
Wade thinks that the Bears will easily cover, and possibly win against a limp squad lacking Lamar Jackson.

Washington FT +3 has its hands full with Superman on Sunday, but let’s see how super he is.
WFT might be tuckered after an emotional savaging of the Bucs last week, or they might be even more inspired to be better than their 3 wins.
Wade thinks the Panthers will stumble at home.

The Chiefs are back, but so are the Cowboys +2.5…and Dallas just has a better team.
Perhaps Patrick Mahomes will have another stellar day, or more likely, we will see the Chiefs of the early part of the season.
Dallas can run relentlessly over Kansas City, and they will most likely do that.

Put your hands up for Detroit +13. No, seriously guys, please. Detroit could really use it.
Fresh off a tough tie against the Steelers, the Lions lose Jared Goff in a 13 point underdog game to the Browns. The same Cleveland team that got dick punched by the Patriots last week.
Detroit will lose, but not by that much. They have a heck of a running game, and nothing to lose.

If you want to roll with Wade, take the Bears, Washington, Cowboys, & Lions. A £10 wager will hit you back with £162.10

That’s it for the Week 11 tips. Let us know how you make out.

Thanksgiving

We will be hosting Thanksgiving this week at the Sports Bar & Grill Old Street, and Clapham.

Please book a table to make sure that you don’t miss out. Here’s a link to the event.

Week 5 Preview

October 9, 2021 by nflinlondon

Welcome to London NFL!
We couldn’t be happier to have you, as the Atlanta Falcons and NY Jets touch down in the capital for a Sunday Funday match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Who’s going to win? What else is there to do in London? Who wins all the games Sunday?
All these questions answered and are, in this punchy podcast we call the Week 5 Preview.

NFLinLondon · Week 5 Preview-Ep 161

London Game

The Jets and Falcons will face off at 2:30pm GMT (that’s 6:30am in California!), in an epic showdown at Tottenham stadium in north London.

Make sure that you double check all the rules, travel schedule and that you have your tickets before going!

If you show up with no vaccinations, carrying a garbage bag of your stuff, chances are you’re not going to have the best day.
Remember there are other people who also want to watch the game, so think about those people around you as well!

London Parties

We are throwing pre and after parties at the Sports Bar & Grill Clapham, Old Street, as well as the Princess Alex in Crouch End.

Clapham and the Alex will be open until 1am, while Old Street will keep the party rocking until 4am.

Book your table now from our events page.

Jets (1-3) vs Falcons (2-2)  +46

Yes, we have never had a set of winning teams play in a London game, but who cares? We have actual games here, so stop yer bitching.

Fortunately for the Jets, they finally won a game, after an inspired victory over the Titans. These emotions should carry them high into the sky for their flight across the pond.

Matt Ryan and the Falcons have another season of woe ahead of them, as the injury bug made an early visit to the team this season.
Kyle Pitts has yet to emerge as the big catch sensation that Atlanta envisioned, being needed more to shore up that patchy O line instead.

Ryan admitted on the podcast that he was ‘done’ betting on the Falcons, which leaves him no choice to bet on the Jets. He thinks that they will put out some inspiring play en route to a tight, tight victory.

Wade is big on Atlanta, as they seem to be the marginally better of the two struggling teams.
New York may have blown their celebration load last week, toasting their meagre victory like it would be their only win of the season. Experience wins in this low scoring game.

Ryan- Jets 24 Falcons 23
Wade- Falcons 24 Jets 20

Other games that the guys look at in this podcast.

Broncos (3-1) vs Steelers (1-3) -1  +40.5

The air is starting to leak out of Big Ben, as the Steelers slip further away from salvaging a rough season.
Their O line is atrocious, giving no one zero time to do anything.

Denver has quietly jumped to a 3-1 record off the back of an inspired defence, and mobile Teddy Bridgewater.
With Teddy down, it’s time for old man Drew Lock to return to face a patchy Pittsburgh D.

Ryan thinks that this is an easy, AFC get right game for the Steelers, as they stave off the bucking Broncos at home.

Wade doesn’t think that the fall from grace is down yet, with another batch of odd losses in the Pittsburgh future.
Drew Lock will be able to dink and dunk to get some plays off, while the running game will give the Steelers constant problems.

Ryan-Steelers 17 Broncos 13
Wade- Broncos 21 Steelers 18

If you want to hear the rest of our picks, listen to the whole podcast, you never know what tickles your fancy here.

Sports Bar & Grill Clapham is showing the Wilder vs Fury fight on Saturday night if you’re looking for a place to watch it.

Hope to see you Sunday night at one of our 3 fabulous NFL parties in London.

Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy the game!

2021 Win Picks

August 15, 2021 by nflinlondon

NFL Training Camp is officially here, which means we finally get a chance to see these teams in action, kitted out with all their new players.
With the season almost upon us, it’s time to take a look at some of the pundits predictions, as we offer up our 2021 Win Picks.

With an extra week of games at play, all the records are either set to shatter, or just get an asterix for all eternity.

Looking at the 2021 NFL regular season win total odds, a few glaring things stick out.
Vegas is hot on some of the returning teams, while sluggish on some of the mediocre teams that showed promise at the end of the season.

Here are some of our picks for win totals in the 2021 season.

Indianapolis Colts (UNDER 9 wins)

In the snap heard round the world, Carson Wentz went down again in a rather predicable scenario for the Colts.
Despite starting strong under Rivers last season, the Colts faded away like ripped jeans, and impressive efforts from the likes of Jonathan Taylor were quickly forgotten.
Indianapolis hasn’t made that many changes to think that they will be that much better this year compared to their division rivals.
Heck, they may even lose to the Texans this year.

Carolina Panthers (OVER 7.5 wins)

The Panthers had a rough season of injuries last season (like most teams), but it was the loss of Christian McCaffrey that really sent the Panthers into tumble mode.
CMac is back, as well as a young studly from the Jets named Sam Darnold.
With fewer ghosts in Carolina, Darnold has the chance to connect with some very speedy receivers, and a comfortable O line to develop under.
Carolina is in a tough division, but they are also the most likely to be ignored by the big boys, given them a fighting chance.
Panthers will win over 8 games.

Las Vegas Raiders (OVER 7)

Can you still feel the NFL Las Vegas?
No? Well thank COVID for that.
The Las Vegas Raiders opened last season to a brand new stadium…with no fans.
Jon Gruden and the boys struggled in almost every capacity, except determination.
There were bright moments in Josh Jacobs, Derek Carr, and anytime that Darren Waller touched the ball, something magical happened.
The bright lights of Las Vegas are back, and so are the fans.
The Raiders are in a tough division, but they have the best home field advantage ever.
Too many visiting teams are going to get sucked into the seedy elements of Las Vegas on a Saturday night that makes them slow poke their Sunday.
Raiders win OVER 7 games.

Seattle Seahawks (UNDER 10 Wins)

Even with an extra week this season, it still is going to be tough for the Seahawks to eek out 10 wins.
The Seahawks haven’t really had a distinct running back in recent years, and Wilson is falling apart as fast as his O line.
Seattle’s D was also a mess last season, as they failed to stop even the worst opponents.
Pete Carroll is the oldest coach in the NFL, and a highly respected leader…but times change.
Seattle seems to have lost its fierceness, turning as damp and cold as the city itself.
Seahawks WON’T win 10 games.

There will be a lot of other factors at play this season.

COVID has the ability to come back harder & faster than a Tom Brady led Patriots.

Lockdown has led to a radical increase in fan violence at games since we have returned.
Every league has seen a shocking amount of fisticuffs, and even Week 1 of preseason NFL had several fights.  Do we really need THESE fans back?

It’s exciting to have the NFL back in any capacity, and extra week of games makes it all the more sweeter.

The Picks Six-Week 15

December 19, 2020 by nflinlondon

Welcome to another edition of the Picks Six! We’re about to get rolling on Week 15, as the climax of the NFL regular season rolls on. However, to be honest, I would be completely doing this wrong if I didn’t talk about the absolute masterpiece that was last week’s Monday Night Football. I didn’t get to sleep until gone 5am in London, but it was 100% worth it. What a game. I need to thank both the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns for that absolute rollercoaster ride. It was fantastic to see both Lamar (cramps aside) and Baker both looking back to their best, and whilst it was hard on the Browns not to win that game after such a stellar comeback, you have to respect the Ravens’ ability to withstand that and keep their playoff hopes alive. Let’s hope we get another game of that quality somewhere in this week 15 slate.

This week, I love, and I mean LOVE, like looooooooooove, this slate of games. I think there are numerous teams who should have way bigger margins of victory, and I am very happy to take those favourites. Let’s have a look!

1st and Goal from the 1yd Line

This is my nailed on – has to happen – pick of the week.

I’m trying not to just pick on the hapless Jets this week (it feels too easy at this point), so we’ll look beyond the obvious LA Rams pick, and trek to the AFC South for our winner.

The Tennessee Titans are on the verge of claiming a second straight AFC South crown, but with the Indianapolis Colts breathing down their neck, they can

scarcely afford a slip up. Luckily for Mike Vrabel, he’s got Tractorcito and THIS – mid-December NFL Football – is #TractorcitoSzn. Derrick Henry looks unstoppable right now, seemingly rushing for 150-250 yards and 1-2 TDs every single week. The man is a machine, and correctly getting plaudits that are even suggesting he should be in the MVP conversation. I don’t think there’s any chance he can win it, because Mahomes and Rodgers are who they are, but King Henry deserves his respect, and I think he – and the underrated Ryan Tannehill – can take the struggling Detroit Lions to the cleaners this week. The line is Titans -11.0, which is a lot to cover, but I do expect Tennessee to take control early and feed Derrick Henry down the stretch. They need it way more, and the Lions are in absolute disarray.

Titans to win.

45yd Field Goal

This is my toss up, but likely winner. Odds around evens.

Chiefs -3.0

This line makes no sense to me. Yeah, fine, Drew Brees is back. Yes, I get it, the Saints defense is very good. BUT COME ON. This is Andy Reid’s Chiefs offense. Patrick Mahomes’ offense. The Legion of Zoom and Travis Kelce. I can’t grasp how the chiefs aren’t favoured by more. It’s the game of the week – without question – and I just can’t see a way that KC don’t continue their charge towards the #1 seed in the AFC. I’m taking the Chiefs.

TD Treble

Mark Andrews – Lamar looked electric on Monday running the ball, but when he needed a big play, he still looked more often than not towards his big Tight End. Andrews is an exceptional receiver and I think he’ll have a good chance of finding the endzone.

Rashard Higgins – Higgins has become Baker’s favourite endzone target, as we saw on Monday night. The Browns must win against the Giants and I think they’ll have to throw a couple times – despite the bad weather – as the Giants seek to stop the run.

Justin Jefferson – This is the risky one, because I’m trusting Kirk Cousins against the Bears defense, but Jefferson has been so electric this year – surely offensive rookie of the year?! – that I think he has enough to find the endzone this week. Chicago are on the brink of official elimination and I’m sure Minnesota would love to finalise that this week.

£10 on this treble pays about £130 depending on your bookmaker. At this price, I think this treble is well worth it.

If you don’t like the above options, I think Travis Kelce & Cam Akers are equally good options, but with considerably shorter odds.

The Overs

This week’s totals are a bit tricky. As much as I think there are numerous games that are very straightforward in terms of their outcome, there are a number here where I have no idea how many points will be scored. I’d say these two are the best of a bad bunch.

Over 52.0 – Chiefs @ Saints – Brees is back, so even though Michael Thomas is out, the Saints should be able to get some points on the board. And they’ll need to, because Patrick Mahomes is 31-1 against teams who score less than 28 points… The Saints defense is no doubt an impressive crew, but nobody is better than the Chiefs offense. I think they Chiefs win this game and score a lot of points whilst doing it.

Over 48.5 – Buccaneers @ Falcons – This one is weird because of how streaky the Falcons are… some weeks, they look like a team stacked with first round talents, and some weeks they look like the New York Jets. Makes no sense. Similarly, some weeks the Bucs look unplayable, and some weeks they look anaemic. But both offenses are explosive enough that I think this line should be a little bit higher, and as such will take the over.

The Parlay

Not a great Paay last week, as the Bears decided to remember how to play offense, and the horrible Broncos and Washington teams disgustingly stole another win each. The good news? I might have mentioned this before… but I LOVE the board.

Bills -5.0 – I cannot fathom why Buffalo are not larger favourites here. Is it because it’s IN Denver and the altitude could play a part? Maybe. But still. This Bills team are

Packers -8.0 – Aaron Rodgers wants a bye. Aaron Rodgers needs a bye. The Packers won’t let him down.

Titans -11.0 – See above. #TractorcitoSzn. It’s a big line, but they should run all over Detroit.

Dolphins -1.5 – You either believe that the Dolphins are for real, or you don’t. This game is everything to Miami. If Brian Flores’ upstarts are going to sneak into the playoffs, they’re going to need either the Ravens to lose (unlikely), or to win out themselves. That starts here. The Patriots ran all over the Fins in week 1, but this is a different Dolphins team. The 2nd ranked defense in the league is raring to go, and it’s a revenge game for so many former New England employees who have sensibly moved southeast to a nicer climate. I think now is the time for the Dolphins to finally slam the door shut on the Patriots dynasty, and start building their credentials to challenge the Bills for AFC East supremacy. They have to win on Sunday.

Browns -6.0 – Baker is cooking. You all saw that on Monday Night. I’m a big believer in Stefanski and this offense. Yep, the defense needs work, but the Browns rushing attack can control this clock and grind down the (actually quite good) Giants D. Colt McCoy cannot win this game. Browns.

£10 on this five-fold returns about £250 depending on your bookmaker.

(If you’re reading this after the two Saturday games have happened, I’d suggest adding Ravens -13.0 & Chiefs -3.0 in place of the Bills and Packers)

The Full English (Season Record: 74-35)

9-6 again last week; a number of ridiculous upsets in my opinion. Washington continue to steal wins at an alarming and outrageous rate. Here’s hoping that ceases this week. We’re still above 67% picking for the season – not bad at all – so let’s keep it rolling with this weekend’s slate.

Bills @ Broncos – Bills

Panthers @ Packers – Packers

Bears @ Vikings – Vikings (Sorry Mitch)

Lions @ Titans – Titans

Texans @ Colts – Colts (I still don’t trust the Colts, but hard to believe in the Texans right now)

Jaguars @ Ravens – Ravens

Patriots @ Dolphins – Dolphins

Seahawks @ Washington – Seahawks (Washington are frauds, Haskins is starting, Seattle need to win… it’s clear for me)

49ers @ Cowboys – 49ers (This is maybe the tightest game of the week. Complete toss up for me. The Niners defense should be good enough to stifle Andy Dalton, but their offense is bad… hard to say, but I’m going 49ers, led by their defense)

Buccaneers @ Falcons – Buccaneers

Jets @ Rams – Rams

Eagles @ Cardinals – Cardinals (Hurts did great last week, by Kyler and the Cards need this for the playoff push)

Chiefs @ Saints – Chiefs

Browns @ Giants – Browns

Steelers @ Bengals – Steelers

Week 16

Next week is Fantasy Football championship week so here’s hoping my three semi final teams are still alive and playing for the money…

We get Christmas Day football, a Boxing Day triple-header, and a Sunday slate including Seahawks vs Rams & Packers vs Titans. Tasty! I hope you’re all staying safe amongst this insanity of a festive period. Whichever Tier you’re in, stay safe this Christmas. As ever, I’m @CallumJDSquires on Twitter and Instagram if you wanna hear more from me. Have a great week.

Callum Squires is a safe distanced friend of NFL in London and a great Dolphins fan.

Ravens vs Steelers

December 2, 2020 by nflinlondon

It’s week 12 on a Wednesday, as we update our previous pick on this weird and wild game, as the Ravens visit the Steelers on a midweek night.
Obviously it’s a bonus to get another NFL game, especially one that airs in primetime UK time. Too bad this one will be a beating.

Ravens (6-4) vs Steelers (10-0)
Steelers -10 +42

The Covid fairy has kissed a bunch of Ravens, meaning they will barely be fielding a team at all. RG3 gets his comeback comeback in primetime, let’s see what he can do with a box of broken toys. Baltimore has to feel gutted going into this one, reeling from losses and infected with Covid to the point of throwing this one. At least they have a QB.
The Steelers must be laughing, they’re the China in this whole thing. Not sure if they started it, but they sure are enjoying the ride. Pittsburgh has benefitted from a healthy team and easy schedule. Sure they’re good, but not a perfect team good. I guess that’s the way the NFL Gods shuffle it.
Both Ryan & Wade like Pittsburgh in a romp here. They’re too strong & healthy that they might even give Rudolph a go if this one starts to coast.
Ryan- Steelers 27 Ravens 13
Wade- Steelers 33 Ravens 18

Enjoy the game, we will have another podcast up this week as well.
