London to do (Oct 14-17)

October 13, 2021 by nflinlondon

What a week it was in the NFL, as London once again hosted a game at Tottenham Stadium.

The Falcons flew supreme in this match, over powering the struggling New York Jets in a tight affair in North London.

Afterwards, we hosted 3 parties across the city for hundred of NFL fans around the world!
What an epic night!

Ready to do it all again?

It’s the battle of Florida in North London, as the Miami Dolphins take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at White Hart Lane on Sunday October 17th.

You ready to do this all again?

To help you figure out what to do, what’s on, and where to do on your trip to London this week, we’re here to help you out with all the advice that you need, in our London to do (Oct 14-17) tip sheet.

And of course, once again we hope to see you this Sunday at either the Sports Bar and Grill Clapham, Old Street or the Princess Alexandra in Crouch End.

Getting to the Stadium

After talking to loads of people last week, it became evident that there are some better ways to get to the stadium that others.

Getting close’ish, then taking a bus seems to have worked well for many people.

Seven Sisters tube can get nutty, so consider the overground (White Hart Lane) or even walking from the Wood Green area, which has ample parking on Sundays.

Thursday

Welcome to London! Are you drunk yet/

Lockdown has changed the working habits of many Londoners, with Thursday being the

optimal day to ‘work from the office’ as they can socialise, hit the bars, and get Friday to sleep in a bit.

With that in mind, hit some of the lovely bars in areas like Old Street, Kings Cross, Angel, Hoxton and Shoreditch.

Frieze

Get your art on by hitting the Frieze London, a chance to catch art and artists you might never had heard of.
A great way to ease your way by hitting a gallery and satisfying your eyes.

https://www.frieze.com/fairs/frieze-london

Noche Tardiva at Amazonico

Hit the jungle with some great drum and bass, jungle music, and Amazonian cocktails until the wee hours. Dance the night away in central London to rocking beats, and more in this forest themed bar.

Downstairs at the Kingshead Comedy

One of the oldest running comedy nights in the WORLD, this new act night is one of the hottest tickets in town, with big telly stars popping in to do guest sets.
Located in leafy Crouch End, this comedy club hosts shows all weekend.
Book here:

Friday

Wendy’s

Missing a taste of America? We have Wendy’s!
They are slowly opening up across the UK, but if you are looking for a quick fix, head to Stratford, in London’s east end.

Grab a bacon double cheeseburger and wash it down with a frosty as you get your America on!

Here is the address:
52 Broadway, London E15 1XE

BackYard Comedy Club

East is the beast when it comes to live entertainment in the capital, and this comedy club is one to check out!
Head to the hip Bethnal Green hood for a weekend of great comedy shows at the Backyard Comedy club. You never know who might pop in.
Booking ahead is recommended as tickets sell out quickly.

Dave Chappelle

If you’re lucky enough to have scored tickets to this show, good on you!
While many people across the pond are trying to cancel Dave, many in the UK simply just want a chance to see him.

This tour was originally rescheduled from the COVID days.

Saturday

Football

The Premier League is back, which means that the pubs will be packed with punters looking to catch up on some footie.

If you find yourself in London and you’re looking to catch a game, there are two London derby’s on to look at.

Watford will be playing host to Liverpool Sat Oct 16th at 12:30pm. Watford is in the north west of the city, & can easily be accessed by the TFL.

Brentford celebrates their promotion to the PL by hosting Chelsea this weekend, in what looms as a ‘Ted Lasso’ type match of epic proportions.

NCAA Football

If you’re looking to watch college football in the UK, be aware that nobody really cares about it here.
A pub will never switch off a footie game to watch American college kids, so it’s good to find a location that shows this type of stuff.

The Sports Bar and Grill Clapham and Old Street will show the games that air on BT Sport/ ESPN.
They will be showing Kentucky vs Georgia on Saturday at 5pm, so that should keep you busy for a few hours.

Bloomsbury Festival

Bloomsbury is a weird area of London that has a high density of businesses and residents, giving it a very unique vibe, and worth a walk around.

The Bloomsbury Festival will be blasting lights, and action all weekend as you can explore the area, as well as hit some of the green restaurants in the area.

Check it out here.
https://bloomsburyfestival.org.uk/2021-events/

Sunday

It’s gameday!
Remember that the game kicks off at 2:30pm GMT (9:30am EST), so make sure that you plan your journey there accordingly.

Sunday’s are notoriously slow in the UK for travel (replacement buses everywhere), so give yourself a bit more time to get around.

Double check your route using CityMapper so that you know exactly what your options are for getting to and from the game.

PreGame

Looking to soak up the beer in advance by filling up?
Head to the Sports Bar and Grill Old Street, Clapham or the Princess Alexandra in Crouch End for breakfast, or beers prior to kick off.

The forecast for Sunday is calling for rain, so make sure that you bring an easy jacket/ jumper to throw on, as bringing umbrellas is a pain in the butt.

All 3 pubs will be showing the NFL game between the Dolphins and Jaguars, but book ahead if you want to make sure that you get a seat.

The Princess Alexandra is a direct bus ride to the stadium, and there is plenty of parking in Crouch End around Priory Park if you’re looking for a direct route/ option to the game.

Gametime

Miami Dolphins vs Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Stadium at 2:30pm GMT, so give yourself a bit of time to get to the stadium and go through the security protocols.

Check ahead with the stadium to make sure that you don’t bring TOO MUCH.

The forecast for Sunday October 17th is mostly cloudy, with a 40% chance of rain, and a high of 17c (64F).

After Parties

London is NOT a late night city, so make sure you plan ahead if you want to avoid going from closed door to closed door in shady parts of London you don’t know.

Sports Bar Clapham

South London will be full tilt with action, as the SB&G Clapham will host south London’s most epic after party.

With ALL of the NFL games on plus Redzone, the bar will be open late to make sure that you and yours can watch all of the NFL games.

Loads of TVs, cold beer and hot wings will make this your best Sunday Funday option south of the Thames.

https://www.sportsbarandgrill.co.uk/clapham/party-booking

Sports Bar Old Street

The OG of sports bars, this Old Street location will be open until 4am Monday, so that you can get your NFL on for the big game.

With over 50+ TVs and room for 300 people, this bar will get packed quickly, so make sure you book ahead first.

We will be accepting people on the door, although there will be a cover charge and seating isn’t guaranteed.
The pub has a late license until 4am, so you can stay for as long as your coherent, and be back in bed late if you want to avoid the rush.

Book here now!

https://www.sportsbarandgrill.co.uk/oldstreet/party-booking

Princess Alexandra

Jump on the W3 bus near the pub, and you’re dropped off directly in front of White Hart Lane.

An easy 15 minute journey will see you avoiding the direct traffic and at the stadium every 10 minutes.

To get out of the stadium, just grab another W3 bus just across the road, and you’re back at the pub in time for the 6pm kickoffs.

Areas to Avoid

Leicester Square

After hearing the horror stories from fans from week 1, we can only caution you about going to Leicester Square at night.

Many fans want to crush down there after the games, only to find that the area is dead, and the only places that are open are packed and crazy expensive.

Wembley

Did you book a hotel near Wembley instead of Tottenham? It’s a lot better than it use to be!

Not much going on unless you’re a student or work around the stadium.
Luckily you are now closer to central London than you were a few years ago.

Tottenham

10 years ago, venturing outside to the side streets of Wembley would be lunacy.
Today the stadium is safely surrounded by a skyline of condos, busy franchises, and a bustling new community.

Tottenham is Wembley 10 years ago.
The area is still very rough on the surrounding streets, and gentrification has yet to take hold , allowing Tottenham to maintain a tough, local vibe.
White Hart Lane is a notoriously rough area, and even less desirable at night.

Get to the game and get out while the sun is still out, the Spurs vampires await.

That’s it for this write up of what to do in London, have fun, enjoy the game and stay safe.

See you Sunday at one of our NFL in London events!

Week 15 Draftkings

December 20, 2020 by nflinlondon

Has somebody thought of throwing a challenge flag for the 2020 NFL season? As the world descends into further madness, we thought we would add a little joy to your Sunday with our Week 15 Draftkings picks.
If you haven’t been playing along with us this season, there is still time to play along for FREE or in PAID contests.
For many NFL fans, your fantasy season is over, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t play along with our Draftkings daily contests.
We have loads of fun trash-talking each other, and once all this virus nonsense is behind us-we look forward to meeting up with all of you in person again.

Until then, here are some of the top tips you might want to look at for Week 15 in the NFL.

QBs

Jared Goff $6300

Remember the fantasy adage for 2020…’Who are the Jets playing’? Well, this week it is the LA Rams, who have started to push the pedal down for the playoffs. It looks like the Jets are going to throw up a donut in the win column this year, and it’s kind of fun to watch Adam Gase implode. The Rams need to continue to win BIG in the rest of the regular season games, so it’s possible that LA beats the hell out of the Jets before halftime. Regardless, Goff will be a good value for the amount of points he will put up today.

Mitchell Trubisky $5300

Mitch was riding the pines for a good chunk of the season, until Nick Foles became ‘Nick Fails’ and put the nail in his own Bears coffin. Trubisky is auditioning for next season, so it’s no wonder that he is pulling out all the stops to stay in the NFL and avoid being a Walmart greeter.
In the past 2 games Mitch has looked great, moving the ball down the field easily with a balanced running and passing game. The Vikings have a weak secondary that Allen Robinson will find plenty of holes in.

RBs

Derek Henry $9500

Bling, bling baby! If you want to blow your wad this Sunday look no further than Derek Henry. The priciest of the bunch, it’s always hard to justify spending so much on one guy, when savvy bettors know that you can find value in the mid-tier players. With Henry playing a weakened Lions squad, you can easily see the Titans just letting Henry cook.

Cam Akers $6600

He’s back, he’s healthy, he’s scoring, and he’s playing the Jets. Akers has been a light in a running darkness for the Rams, so this game should be a good one to get his confidence up. If the Rams ramp up a big lead, they will rely on Akers to get the first downs.

WRs

DJ Chark $5000

Clark is healthy and ready to disrupt this week, as the Jags take on the Ravens in a big match. A few months ago the Ravens D brought with it fear and uncertainty, but seeing what the Browns did against them last week has dispelled that notion. Baltimore can be beat, and a stealthy WR will cause problems for them when he gets behind the lines. He’s averaging 11.9 fppg, which is a good deal for $5000.

Cooper Kupp $7000

Kupp is also playing the Jets, and has been finding big holes and gains all season. Kupp plays by his own tune, which is why he is found open so often as defences just don’t factor in t contain him. Kupp looks to have another big game against a horrendous Jets team.

Russell Gage $4700

With Julio Jones out, Gage is a great value play for Matt Ryan to hit on Sunday. Averaging 10.4 fppg, Gage has the wheels and hands to find some gaps in the Bucs D. It’s always good to see what value players you can get for under 5k, and Gage certainly dings that.

TE

Tyler Higbee $3800

Another Ram? Yep. Highbee has had an impressive year so far, and it should get even better on Sunday when he rips apart the Jets in the redzone. He’s too big and strong for the Jets to handle when they’re busy trying to cover Keenan Allen.

DEF

Bears $3200

The Bears play the Vikings on Sunday, but this game will be different than the one that was played a few weeks ago. The Bears are more invigorated from the desperate play of Mitch, and the D has responded by playing lights out football. They rattled Deshaun Watson relentlessly in week 14, and they should be ripped to take the head off of Cousins in this divisional match.

DraftKings Week 4

October 2, 2020 by nflinlondon

Week 4 of the NFL is here, and it’s time to get your DraftKings picks ready so that you can either win big, or just play for free. Make sure you join our DraftKings League. It’s free to join, and we have a mix of contests there for you to enjoy. Add more Funday to your Sunday by playing along with our gang.

Injuries were the star of the NFL in week 3, with loads of teams getting handbagged and some serious ouchies that have taken some players out of the season. If there was a way to bet on ACL Injuries, you could make some serious cash…all while being a sick mofo.

When you’re looking at who to target for Week 4 it’s always good to look at who the worst teams are, and who they are playing. Chances are that team is going to give up a bucket load of points.
You should also look at pairing a good QB with a WR, as those combinations are going to increase your point value.
Let’s take a look at some of the key players to target in week 4.

QB

Russell Wilson $7800

The best QB in the league is playing one of the worst teams in the league, which smells plenty of points to go around. RW has as many TDs as all the QBs in the NFC East, which gives you an idea of how good he is. $7800 isn’t that bad considering he got 5 TDs last week. Miami will struggle to contain him, and the only downside is they might rest Wilson if they go up by 40 points.

Nick Foles $5700

Big Dick Nick might be facing one of the top D’s in the league, but this is Foles dang it. Yes, the Colts looked great…against the Jets last week, but this is a whole different story. Foles has better pocket awareness that Trubisky, so he will look to hit some medium yardage passes to break up their zone. Good value at $5700.

RB

Joe Mixon $5800

Mixon has had a less than stellar start for the Bengals, no thanks to the porous O line. Luckily he is facing the Jaguars this week who are very weak against the run. Look for Burrow to establish Mixon as the secondary of the Jags might give him some trouble. Mixon should score at least 1 TD.

Myles Gaskin $5000

A Miami player against the Seahawks? Yep. The secondary of the Hawks will be focused on picking off Fitzmagic, which should open some opportunities for Gaskin who already has 152 yards this year. He’s a great value at $5000 as the Dolphins have no choice but to use him.

WR

DK Metcalf $6800

Metcalf has to be kicking himself after letting the ball get smacked out of his hands in the end zone last week.
DK is a huge, fast receiver who will give Miami plenty of problems on Sunday. The Dolphins will most likely smother Tyler Lockett, giving Metcalf plenty of opportunities.

Andy Isabella $4500

Who? That’s right, Andy had 2 TDs last week to increase his performance heading into week 4. Chances are Hopkins will be getting double coverage, which means this speedster will find himself open at many times.
He’s a good deal at $4500, and perfect if you’re trying to save some space.

TE

Jimmy Graham $3800

Is Jimmy back? It sure seems so, as both Foles and Trubisky were able to find the big man last week against the Falcons. He’s a veteran, so you know that Foles is going to find him on short yardage and redzone situations.

Darren Waller $5200

More on the pricey side, Waller will factor heavily as the Raiders figure out ways to beat the Bills. He’s a big dude with big hands, let’s just hope he can stay healthy.

DEF

LA Rams $3900

The Rams are playing the Giants, which is all you need to really know. Aaron Donald will make a mess out of poor Daniel Jones, and it’s likely that Jones will have another no good, truly bad day.

Hit up our DraftKings League and join for free. You can also win cash in some of our Sunday games.

Week 14 Review

December 11, 2019 by nflinlondon

The podcast review show is up, as Wade & Ryan look back at a shaky betting week in the NFL. Both guys went 8-6-2 for the week, which is good-but not great.
As we mentioned before, the last 3 weeks can have some unpredictable scores.

Some of the games the guys touch in on the podcast include:

Broncos 38 Texans 24

Way to go Drew Lock and the Broncos for making a season out of it. They exploded on the Texans who had no answer to the relentless onslaught of the Broncos deep ball. The Texans were totally outclassed, outgunned and out played in this game. It really puts their playoff chances in doubt, when it’s shown they can be beat by countless deep ball chances.

49ers 48 Saints 46

Once in a few years, a game comes along that delivers a great NFL product. This was the game. An endless back & forth of scoring by two great offences and defenses. Brees & Jimmy G each punched each other with scores upon scores, until the 49ers rallied late to score. Both teams played like they are both destined to play again with greater stakes at risk.

Redskins 15 Packers 20

The Packers won. But did they really? They put up some quick points, only to just sit on their lead. The Redskins made this a contest, and you wonder what the Packers will do when they face a team that can score back. The Redskins made some great little plays, and their D was able to adjust to Rodgers in the second half. Closer than the 13 point line suggests.

Chiefs 23 Patriots 16

The Patriots lost..again. This was a tight match that saw Tom Brady’s throwing options as pretty much zero. Mahomes looked ok, but not daunting enough to win a big playoff game. The Patriots will need to rebound if they want to win it all, but if anyone can do it, it’s them. The Chiefs might find themselves in the same early exit fate as they did last year. A win, but was it enough?

Make sure you listen to our podcast, get in touch and subscribe and follow our every move.

Join our DraftKings fantasy league, and take advantage of our latest BetRegal offers.

Week 10 Review

November 13, 2019 by nflinlondon

Week 10 is done and dusted, and we have learned a lot from the games & upsets that shook our hearts in the NFL.
The Saints took a mushroom stamp to the cheek, the Bills tossed salad on their winning ways, and the Bears struggled to find ways to move the ball.
Which teams look solid going forward?

Wade & Ryan break down all of the games, as well as live stream this podcast on Facebook.

They go over some of the big games and surmise what went wrong, what went right, and how it will determine their forward fate.
Some of the games they discuss include:

Chiefs vs Titans

Ouch. Ryan Tannehill made you look stupid, and that hardly ever happens. Mahomes reverted to his Kermit self and was a total Muppet in this game, as the Titans D clamped down. Henry looked phenomenal for a guy you would normally keep on your fantasy bench.
What will the Chiefs do going forward?

Bills vs Browns

The Browns needed a win, and got it-but did it in a ramrod fashion. How many times do you need to be inside the 10…and still not score? The Bills looked like they were calling it in, already planning their Sunday night wing plans.
The Browns won, but are still hopeless.
Coaching does matter huh?

Falcons vs Saints

Matty Ice is on fire! Too bad the Saints looked like they were soaked in accelerants. The Saints had room to lose, but not by this bad and this much. They actually made the Falcons look good, which is a bad thing to do.
Brees and Payton need to get this offence humming again and score at will.
If they don’t learn from this game, it’s trouble.

Ravens vs Bengals

Watching the Bengals, is like watching a documentary on killing tigers, then harvesting their organs as entrees at Chinese weddings. It is sad, and you wonder what actual real good comes out of it.
The Ravens and LJ were riding high after smacking the school bully the previous week.
That bully will be back though, and daddy has some plans.

Lions vs Bears

The Lions were down the incredible Matt Stafford, and still managed to make a game out of it. Depleted and broken, they were close to stabbing the Bears in the eye. Mitch Trubisky looked like his usual self in the first half, then came alive in the second half to shred some points.
He still is Mitch though, and committing to him going forward is an issue.
