London-Late

October 6, 2019 by nflinlondon

Welcome to London! The city that sleeps…a lot.
Unlike other global centres of culture, London is a city that shuts down early.
Many local councils are more concerned with noise than fun, so as a consequence many late night activities have been hurled to the hounds.
If you are looking to find late activity-you will need to be in the know.
Luckily, we are in the know.

If you’re looking to watch late night NFL with sound, you are going to be SOL in most cases.
While some Casino’s in central London might show them, they will be packed with drunks and pickpockets, and you will probably not get any sound.
There are a few places however that might fit the bill.

Palm Beach Casino
A truly classy casino in central London with a very wicked sports bar.
The casino is open 24 hours, so you can watch all of the NFL games here on multiple screens.
Savour some great cocktails from talented mixologists, or just drink beer.
Right in the heart of London, so you can get back to your hotel with ease.

Aspers Casino-Stratford
Asper’s casino is quite a huge casino located in Stratford, so it works if you’re staying in that area of the city. A relatively new casino, their sports offering isn’t up to speed yet-so you might struggle to see the game. If you’re dressed in NFL gear-you might also get stopped at the door, so make sure you are well behaved. Open 24hrs.

Roadtrip-Shoreditch
Looking for some late night NFL watching in Shoreditch? Roadtrip is a place to go, as it is right near Old Street station and all of Shoreditch. They show NFL on Sundays, and because they close at 1am-you should be able to watch the full Packers v Cowboys game
The kitchen is open, but given that most meals are either fried or microwaved, you might want to pop across the road to the kebab shop.

Bar Italia Soho
This historic London venue is a great place to unwind, grab some food and drink and soak up the history of Soho. It is usually open until 5am on a Sunday, and the kitchen is full of great options to soak up your beer ravaged belly.
Soho can be quite sketchy at night, especially around the ATMs-so have a friend spot you if you head out single.

Duck and Waffle
Mmmm, who’s hungry for food and a heck of a view? Duck and Waffle near Liverpool street station is 40 floors up, and serves food 24 hours a day. You might want to make a reservation if there’s a bunch of you-but on a Sunday you should be set for a great feast. Enjoy the soaring views of London as the sun rises and all those losers have to go to work, while you get to nurse a hangover.

Aces and Eights
Love a bit of Rock n’ Roll? Aces and Eights in Tufnell Park is a funky bar that specialises in comedy, music and performance. Luckily, they are also open until 1am on a Sunday.
The bar is also located fairly close to the stadium, so if you grab a taxi after the game, you can enjoy at least 4 hours of solid boozing.

Dalston Superstore
A hip and cool bar in the hippest area of London-Dalston. This boozer is open until 2:30am on Sundays, and has loads of great cocktails and live entertainment. Sunday’s offer female DJs and is a trans night, so you can mix and mingle with a progressive London Sunday.

Slim Jim’s Liquorstore
Do you like American rock’n’roll? Then you should hit Slim Jim’s after the game. This boozer between Highbury and Islington & Angel is notoriously skinny as a bar, but goes back deep. (Insert rock n roll cliche here). It’s open until 1am on Sundays-and you can get there directly from the stadium via the Victoria tube line.

Princess Alexandra
That’s the party we’re throwing. Head to Crouch End from the stadium by taxi, and you’re there in under 15 minutes. 30 minutes by bus. We have a late license, so we will be open until 4am.
Late buses can get you back to central London.

London-Travel

September 28, 2019 by nflinlondon

If you’ve never been to London before, it can seem a bit daunting to get around.
When you come from North America, the first thing you notice is that the cars drive on the other side-and crossing the street involves second guessing your inherent nature.

Londoners move across the city like cockroaches on a buttered floor, get in their way, or God forbid-stand on the left side of the escalator, and you will get a simmering look of disdain like no other.

We have a few tips to help you get around.

Apps
Unless you’re Amish-you probably have a smart phone or someone in your group does.
This is good.
You should download a London Tube Map, Citymapper, and if you have Uber in your local city-use that as well. (it works over here).
Citymapper will help you plan how long it takes to get to places and back. You can add in your destination/ hotel etc as a homebase to make getting around easier.
The Tube map is necessary for getting around this crazy city.
As you can see from the image above-sometimes it’s easier to walk, especially if you’re in Central London.

Tottenham/ White Hart Lane
If you’re heading to one of the NFL games at Tottenham Stadium (aka White Hart Lane) you will be heading to North-East London.
While this might have been a butt-ache several years ago, recent new travel lines and station have made this easier to get to.
White Hart Lane station is on the Overground (orange lines on map) north of Liverpool street station.
Luckily there are also loads of London trains that also head north in that direction.
You can pretty much reach the stadium from Finsbury Park, Liverpool Street, and anywhere on the Victoria Line.
Just note that on Sundays the tube runs like an old dog, so you might have delays, closures and early closings.
The tube usually stops running at midnight, so have your Uber ready in case you need to go somewhere.

Enjoy London and have a safe trip.

Thomas Cook NFL

September 24, 2019 by nflinlondon

As many people know, travel agent Thomas Cook has gone and busted a nut, leaving many people left in the lurch.
This is incredibly bad news for NFL fans planning on coming to London for the 2019 games.

Firstly WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.
We are NFL in London, a promoter of NFL fun and good times.
We are gutted by everyone who is struggling to get to London for the games, but please don’t get mad at us.
We can barely afford to fly anywhere.

If you have been left in the lurch, we recommend that you contact your bank, tour provider or whomever your tickets are with.
Hopefully Thomas Cook has paid these folks, and you are in the clear.
If you haven’t, contact your bank and see what they can do.

While many folks are also trying to blame the NFLUK, they are in the same, unenviable position.
These are partners of theirs, and they would have no idea that this was afoot.
Please be nice and patient to them as well.

Good luck to everyone involved, and hopefully you can make the games with no issues.

See you for the games!

Belushi’s Hammersmith

September 15, 2019 by nflinlondon

Are you ready for some NFL?
Then head down to Belushi’s Hammersmith for a great night of NFL games.

This Belushi’s isn’t like any of them you have seen before, it’s been totally renovated and ready for your experience.

Conveniently located near most major tube lines, the bar is right across from both Hammersmith locations, which means there is no excuse for getting lost!
Loads of great beers on tap, amazing wings, plus over 25+ tvs and a massive projector to watch all of the games.

Best of all-it’s open until 1am-so you won’t have to worry about getting booted out of your game before its over.

Belushi’s will be blasting all of the Sky games, plus Redzone starting at 6pm.
*there might be annoying soccer on-be patient til it’s over.

Want to watch your own game?
No problem! Bring in a tablet or computer and stream right onto Gamepass and you are ready to go!

Belushi’s also has stadium seating, so that you can get right into the experience of levels, all while cheering on the game with your friends.

Cheap beer, great food, and a hostel located upstairs in case you and the gang decide that you want to crash over for the evening.

Wade & Ryan will be there this Sunday!
Come say hi!

Ryan: Texans 35-Jags 20 Wade Texans 31-Jags 10

Vikings vs Packers (-2.5) +44.5

Wade: Packers 30-Vikings 20 Ryan: Packers 27-Vikings 24

49ers vs Bengals (-1) +44.5
Roar kitty.
The Bengals are loose like a midwest heroin mom after chardonnay o’clock.
