Sports Holidays

December 5, 2021 by nflinlondon

December is here, which means you wasted another year without realising it.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone here.

As you look for things to do to entertain yourselves during the month of December, why not pop down to either the Sports Bar & Grill Old Street or Clapham to settle in for your Sports Holidays?

The announcement of Omicron has spread quickly around the globe, as men-children around the world held out hopes that someone Omicron was a Transformer here to save us.

Doom and gloom can take a vacation this holiday season, so make sure that you book a table so that you can settle in for a dark month of sport.

NFL Sundays

Sunday Fundays at the Sports B&G got even better, with a wicked lineup of NFL games every Sunday.

The calendar Gods are rewarding NFL fans this season with not only games on Christmas, but on Boxing Day as well.

NFL Sundays fall on the 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th of December, giving fans four full Sundays of NFL, plus a wicked week 17 line-up on January 2nd.
(still technically the holidays!)

The best way to enjoy the games is to make a booking, and let the lovely team know which games you are looking for!

Boxing Day

Boxing Day hold particular sporting significance in the UK, dating back hundreds of years.

Ever since a little underdog named Jimmy ‘Jesus’ the Saviour fought Kris Kringle on the snowy mounds on Mistletoe Lane, Boxing Day has been synonymous with action.

The Premier League might rule the roost on Boxing Day, but once those games are over, the NFL takes over in epic fashion.
The Sports Bar will be very BUSY on Boxing Day, so please make a booking so that we can get your table sorted before the NFL kicks off.

NCAA Football

Both Clapham and Old Street will endeavour to show as much college football as they can, but they are limited by what is shown on the UK sports networks.

Luckily, BT Sport ESPN have upped their game as of late, adding more college games to the fold every weekend.

If the college games air on a UK sports network, they will be happy to throw the games on for you.

Be sure to check the TV schedules for all the days that you’re looking for.

Get in touch with the team if you would like to book a big group in.

Playoffs

The Sports Bar and Grill(s) will be working to show as many NFL playoff games as possible.

With the time changes and schedule upheavals, we will keep you in the loop as to all of the updates and games as we know them.

Make sure you keep us in mind for the SuperBowl as well!

Alabama Champ

January 12, 2021 by nflinlondon

Another NCAA Football season is done and dusted as Nick Sabin and the Alabama Crimson Tide rolled over a shocked Ohio State, making Alabama Champ.
Alabama Champ actually sounds like a new strain of CBD or a 500lb jelly wrestler, but that’s aside the point.

Alabama never really looked back in this game, smacking Ohio State in the mouth 52-24. It’s the 14th consecutive victory for Bama, as they rolled onto an undefeated season during the year of Covid. Sure, and asterix could be placed the 2020 season as not all of the teams had a fair shot at the title, although to be honest…that is America.

DeVonta Smith was an absolute monster in this game, hauling in 3 TDs, and 12 catches for 215 yards. The Heisman Trophy winner was on fine form for the final match, thoroughly impressing all of the scouts and NFL teams who now have a draft conundrum ahead of them. Smith wasn’t really focused in many top 5 predictions, but you have to imagine that the Miami Dolphins who draft 3rd, would be interested in pairing this speedy youngster with Tua.

The NFL Draft is only 4 months away, and we’ll see what the league thinks of the speedster, as well as his Ohio State QB counterpoint Justin Fields. Fields was overmatched by a stiff Bama D in this game, but that shouldn’t affect his overall NFL stock.

This was a tough game for any of us to watch in the UK given the time difference, so here are the highlights for your consideration.

Sports Saturday

October 12, 2019 by nflinlondon

What a sucky rainy day in London.
Are you just going to sit inside, or are you planning on going out and watching some sports?
Good call.

The Princess Alexandra will be one of the FEW places in London showing all of these games with sound.
Head to Crouch End, only 20 minutes from Central London to a cosy British pub, with loads of TVs and sight-lines.

5pm
Michigan #16 vs Illinois
Let’s kick it off with some college ball, as Illinois host Michigan in a great Saturday match-up.
Order some wings and a frosty pint, then sit by the fire and watch the games on massive screens.

South Carolina vs Georgia #3
It’s the battle of the south, as #3 ranked Georgia hopes to put out the fire of those pesky gamecocks. Grab a burger for this one, because it’s going to melt in your mouth.

9pm

Alabama #1 vs Texas A&M #24
Hoo doggy, this game is going to be all kinds of fun! Let’s see what Tricky Nick Saban has in store for A&M. This game kicks off at 9pm and will finish by 1am closing time.

MLB-Cardinals vs Nationals
October is here, and so are baseball playoffs. It’s the NLCS match-up of the ages, as St. Louis and Washington battle it out to see who gets to lose to the Yankees.
A great game for more wings!

See you tonight!

NCAA Saturday

October 10, 2019 by nflinlondon

You ready for come NCAA football?
With no football (soccer) and rugby being chased away by a typhoon-the NCAA football will be in full force this weekend.

So where do you watch it on a Saturday in London?
Well-not many, if any places will play it-as they will be dealing with loads of drunks and coked out DJs on iMacs.

But there is a place in North London where you can watch Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Alabama.
That place is the Princess Alex in Crouch End.

It’s open until 1am on Saturday-so pop in for a few beers, grab some wings and enjoy the games in style in front of their massive projector.

Saturday is Football day as well!

NCAA-Week 1

August 30, 2019 by nflinlondon

The NCAA is finally here, and what a way to kick it off with some picks.
Our sharpie Wade takes a stab at some of the things you might want to look at when college football starts off the season.
First off-Wade doesn’t think that Clemson is going to boot GT all over the field all day.
First week back can be jittery-but 37 its is just too dear.
Spartans by 23.5 over Tulsa? Don’t think so.
Michigan St always has a bit of cobwebs coming out the gate, so fade them.
Lastly take the Beavers to cover by more than 2 over Oklahoma St.
Feisty Oregon might have a team together this year, & this game will see how this offence can finally pull it together.
