Head Gase

October 24, 2020 by nflinlondon

Adam Gase still has a job, which might be one of the more messed up things to happen in 2020. The Jets are the worst team in the NFL, which makes Gase the de facto worst coach in the NFL, so why is this happening?
Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why:

Woody Johnson

Ambassador Johnson is a busy man. The Jets owner is not only an Ambassador to the UK, but also the scion to the Johnson & Johnson empire. Johnson has been busy working as a British interpreter to Donal Trump, as well as helping the US navigate the upcoming Brexit.
Johnson was supposed to devolve all Jets activities, but you have to wonder if his touch is missing on the team.
It’s like having your neighbours train your puppy. It might be convenient now, but what kind of dog are you going to get?
In the case of the Jets, a bad dog. A very bad dog.

Sam Darnold

Gase chose a solid rookie QB in Sam Darnold, now we can all watch as Gase slowly crumbles the young mans career. Darnold is getting absolutely smoked with no O-line to protect him, and he is aging far too fast in NFL years. Giving Darnold to Gase was like giving a Fabrege Egg to a toddler. He’s just going to smash it up, then ask for a new one.

Player Vacation

The Jets are jettisoning players like someone threw a grenade in their fuselage. They have lost talent on every side of the ball, and it will take years to recover the amount of guys who had fled the sinking Jet. In doesn’t instils much confidence in fans when no one wants to play for your team, as well as thinking that you have the worst playable field in the league. Until Gase leaves, this haemorrhaging will continue to bleed New York of talent.

Play Calling

Someone needs to take Gase off the play calling role. He has too many fingers in too many pockets, which ultimately leads to step in and take the reigns away from him. The Jets plain old suck across everything, so it might make sense for him to take a step back and let someone else tank the team.

Adam Gase will probably make it until the end of the NFL season. The Jets are unlikely to fire the idiot, which means that they will be looking to destroy a new QB next year. Stay in school Trevor Lawrence.

TNF-Broncos vs Jets

October 1, 2020 by nflinlondon

If you thought the US Presidential debate was a shit show, wait til you get a load of what’s on Turds-Day night as the NY Jets host the Denver Broncos.
Both teams are 0-3 in what might be known as the ‘Tank for Trevor Bowl’.

Both teams are a mess right now, with injuries riddling so bad, they would likely lose to a CFL team.
The Broncos have tried this season, but losing key players in a difficult division will most likely doom their season.
The Jets have to worry about Adam Gase, as he has a herpes like affect on the whole New York franchise.

Broncos (0-3) vs Jets (0-3)
Jets -1 +40.5

Broncos

Brett Rypien will be making his first NFL start in a ‘what the hell’ kind of decision to start the week. The nephew of the great Canadian QB Mark Rypien will have one of the easiest starts to his career, facing a Jets team that gives up more than an meth head in a police confession.
Rypien took over for Driskell last week in their beating by the Bucs, so he has at least some experience facing a tough D.
Not sure how tough this Jets defence will be in comparison.

Jets

Pack your bags Adam, you are the weakest link. Goodbye. This could be the last game for the head coach as fans are calling for him to be beheaded, fed to dogs, then the remains dumped in the East River.
If this is the last game for Gase, you can imagine that he will want to do everything in his power to put on a good showing at home.
Le’Veon Bell has been a ghost this season, and you wonder if it’s to get out of New York, or just to slink his career off to the shadows.
With the kind of money he’s been paid, you would think he would show a bit more gumption.

Prediction

Thursday night games are always a bit of letdown, as teams are coming off of a short week only to jump in the saddle again. Covid 19 has made TNF even worse, as players are having to go through even more testing, made even worse by the Titans spreading germs all over the league.
The Broncos don’t have a lot of pressure here. Sure, they’re 0-3, but there’s not a lot you can do with a third string QB and loads of your D aching on the sidelines.
All of the pressure is on the Jets to succeed, which given the track record of their head coach could be a bridge too far.
This game will be low scoring, no caring, and be uglier than Joe Biden throwing hate on primetime TV.
The line was originally -3 for the Broncos which made me want to pick the Jets to cover, but I think that the 24 year old Rypien will be looking to prove his name in this one.

AFC East Prediction

September 1, 2019 by nflinlondon

Can we really choose anyone else in this division other than the New England Patriots?
How did they get even stronger this year when Tom Brady is at least 109 years old!
Wade & Ryan both take a stab at how they think this division will end up, and it’s pretty predictable.
UNLESS Tom Brady is somehow mangled on the field this season, the Patriots should comfortably cruise on through unscathed to the post-season.
Wade sees the Patriots going all the way to the big game, while Ryan thinks that they will have some problems in the AFC battle in January.

Buffalo present an interesting dilemma, as they have a huge talent of running backs to choose from, as well as a plucky running QB in Josh Allen.
Will their defense be able to stifle the opposition again this year? Have they strengthened their line by shovelling snow in the offseason?
Buffalo could well be a 500 team again this year, causing problems and turmoil to all teams in this division.

The New York Jets are interesting as you have a team whose coach has essentially run rough-shot over the whole team. He is not a huge fan of Le’veon Bell, so it will be interesting to see how they respond to him.
Will their QB-Sam Darnold continue to impress with his play, or will he switch back to erratic?
There is a ton of pressure on the Jets to succeed this year, sadly it doesn’t see like Wade or Ryan think that will happen.

Lastly the lowly Dolphins of Miami, where the hurricanes seem to intensify every year.
The fact that Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to secure the starting job says a lot about how this team will progress.
Miami traditionally starts off modestly ok, then quickly turns as Florida can turn into ‘Florida Man’…
(Have you tried Googling that followed by your birthday?)

Suffice to say, this is another Patriots year.
Even without Gronk.
